Pros: One of the very best breweries in America Cons: Kalamazoo is more than five miles from my home
The recent road trip to Chicago featured a lot of activity and travel. The "official" purpose of the trip was to see the Cubs play a game at Wrigley Field. But somehow you had to know that a few brewpubs would work their way into the agenda. ...
Pros: Great atmosphere, even better beer. Cons: Not for everyone.
Kalamazoo Brewing Company, makers of the many fine varieties of Bell's beer, also has a brewpub located in the brewery itself, known formally as Bell's Eccentric Cafe, but known throughout the beer world simply as Bell's. Kalamazoo Brewing Company ...
Pros: Great Beer, Great Atmosphere, Great People Cons: Can't get a "fix" in California
It's a wonder that anyone graduates in this college town that boasts Kalamazoo College (GO HORNETS) and Western Michigan University. With a local pub/micro brewery like Bell's around, it's hard not to justify an all-night study break.
Pros: Very tasty Cons: A little expensive (but worth it)
Bell's, located in Kalamazoo, MI, is one of the few breweries I've found that has always been, and remains, true to it's craft. Since microbrews have become "fashionable," small breweries have been popping up all over the country, and Michigan...
Pros: great beer, nice atmosphere Cons: where is kalamazoo?
This is the brewery that got me into microbrews. Bell's Amber Ale was their 1st beer I had and was amazed at how much better than the big commercial breweries' beer this beer was. Well that was years ago and I now sample whatever micros I can. But Bell's...
Kalamazoo Brewing also known as Bell's Brewing is the absolute best brewery i know of in America. They make the beers only one way, and that way is HUGE. These are strong flavored beers for the advanced beer drinker. All beers are unfiltered and bottle...
Pros: Great beer, atmosphere Cons: There is only one
What would summer be without a trip to the Bells brewery? What could possibly be better than sitting in the outdoor beer garden sipping on the summers first batch of Oberon? I can't think of many beer related activities that can surpass the pleasure of...
If there ever was a small town brewery that was going to make headlines in the world of beers, Bell's (Kalamazoo Brewing) would be it. Larry Bell who is the owner has really turned Kalamazoo into a beer haven. His facilities for taste testing are cozy...
I am a student at Michigan State University. I am also in a fraternity. The first time that I ever tried Bell's Beer was at my house. I loved the first time that I ever tried it. The dark ale is almost 8% alcohol but it does not taste like it is. ...
Pros: Consecrator Doppelbock, Amber Ale, Kalamazoo Stout, Oberon, Winter White, Pale ale, etc... Cons: They close
The best beer you will find. Even if you think you don't like dark beer you will like this, but start off with the current seasonal beer. They have a taste for everyone; Oberon for the summers, Winter white for the winter, and Amber Ale and Kalamazoo stout for all the year through. But by far THE best beer I've had is the Bell's Consecrator Doppelbock that is brewed for fat tuesday and can only be found in late Feb. to early Mar. It is fermented with a Bohemian lager yeast. Reddish brown in color, with a mild hop profile, Consecrator is a well balanced, full bodied beer with hints of caramel and molasses in its smooth, malty finish. AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa, THE BEST!! I didn't use to like dark beer but boy that has changed. If you ever get to Kalamazoo Michigan and you like good beer then Bells Pub is a must.
