Pros: Open 7 days a week. Only day closed is Christmas day. Cons: it's only a 15 word maximum!!
Let me give you a little insight on this bank. I used to work for Woodforest National Bank. If you are approved for Totally Free Checking, and you never write a bad check. You are okay. But if you qualify for the Second Chance Checking, you are better ...
Pros: Open every day Cons: No drive thru, and they suck
OK. Like a lot of people, I opened my account at Woodforest because they are open every day, and I needed the second chance checking. Now, through nobody's fault but my own, my account information was stolen. I reported it to the bank, ...
Pros: Fast Friendly Service, Full Disclosure, Second Chance Checking Cons: None So Far - Standard Fees $30 Overdraft
Intro My wife and I recently went to our local Woodforest branch in Austin. We found the manager to be helpful and friendly, if not a bit young. She asked us several relevant questions regarding proof of address and two forms of identification ...
Pros: Hours, MasterCard, checks, online banking, good if you have bad credit Cons: Lack of ATM's
I began using Woodforest when they opened a branch near me inside a Walmart Supercenter in Charlotte about 2 and half years ago. Second Chance Checking sounded good to me since though my credit is not horrible, it is not perfect either. The monthly ...
Pros: At many Wal-Mart locations in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Cons: Above average fees, Slow tellers, not a professionally managed bank. Web site is a joke!
I noticed a sign on the counter in the bank that touted "We accept phone payments here". I asked the manager who happened to be on duty if they are an "official" payment center. She said, Yes we are." So while I was in the bank, I paid my phone bill ...
Pros: Inside most Texas Wal Marts Cons: bad customer service, rude, only looking out for themselves
I hate this bank! Sometimes I can't even deposit a check into my account because , as they say " the check is over a certain amount", and they need a manager to do an over ride. Every time this happened there was NEVER a manager there. So they have to ...
Pros: Open banking hours
Online banking service Cons: FEES, FEES, FEES, FEES, and more FEES. DO NOT BANK HERE!
At first, I banked with a larger branch, and would have never thought of banking at Woodforest until one day in Walmart in Winston-Salem, NC, I saw a sign that said open on weekends! I thought, wow! This is really nice. I went in, and set up an account, ...
Pros: totally free checking , no credit check to open checking account, deposits post FAST, Cons: branches only in TX,NC, VA,OH 'totally free' dint start til AFTER i opened an account
due to remarkable difficulty cashing my payroll check at wells fargo (the issuing bank) i wandered into the wal-mart near my job site, and asked a few questions of woodforest bank question one:if i write a check, do you charge the person i write it to ...
It is very funny to read the negative review about Woodforest wanted to make a profit on fees. Well it is a business, how do you think that any bank makes money. I work for the biggest bank in the united states and in the world. They buy small banks, ...
Pros: hours, inside WalMart Cons: NO customer service
I guess they're OK as long as you don't move away. We opened an account b/c of the hours the branch was open. Everything went OK until we moved. The nearest branch is now over 30 miles away, but I'm told I have to go there to close my account. Wachovia closed my other accounts and sent me a check with no problems whatsoever. What kind or monkey operation does Woodforest have anyway?
Pros: hours, friendly, convenience Cons: hard to find atm machines without paying additional funds
This bank is not only conveniently found in most Wal-Mart stores, they provide hours that are convenient. Not only the convenience, I have experienced excellent friendly customer service. They take time to answer all questions. Great second chance banking!
Pros: great hours, convient locations and free checking Cons: The $12.00 a year fee for debit card
I switched to Woodforest because I'm always in Wal Mart so it made sense to me. I opened my account in about 20 minutes. I have direct deposit witch also makes it easier for me. The only downside was charging me $12.00 annual fee for my debit card. You will notice things take a liitle longer to clear your account, but you can mange your account easily online. I have never bounced a check in 21 years so I dont really have to worry about fees...You have a loyal customer for life!
By far the worst bank I have ever had by shoplikecrazy ,Nov 08 '05
Pros: It was in Walmart. Cons: No drive thru. No one with authority at location. Customer service cannot help you.
All I can say is at first it seemed fine. But then when a glitch in their system caused my account to overdraft, I could not get any assistance. I spent 2 days at the branch, where the manager is out of town, or in a meeting. There are only teenagers working there, and no one has the authority to do anything to correct the problem. When I call customer care, they say they have no authority, and refer me back to the manager. I have faxed them all the paperwork they requested, and was told the problem would be corrected by the end of day, and my money would be back in my account, along with the overdraft fees. But so far all I have heard is it can't be done until the Branch Manager approves it, and she is nowhere to be found. So in the meantime, more checks are bouncing and no one can do anything. I hate this bank, and as soon as I get this straight, I am taking my money over to Wells Fargo.
Great bank. Really works with my schedule! by bbriggidym01 ,Jan 05 '08
Pros: Open every day except Christmas.
Extended deposit deadlines. Cons: They allow anyone to bank with them causing businesses to be weary of WF checks.
I've never had a problem. This bank works great with my work schedule.
Seems the negative reviews are due to people's inability to balance a check book...
Pros: Banking hours, customer service Cons: no cons here
I personally can recommend this bank to anyone!!!! I've tryed alot of banks..Big banks, little banks, credit unions none of which could compare their service to Woodforest. I have had terrible things happen to me at other banks and I was really considering giving up banking, but everyone knows how difficult things can be without a bank account. When I signed on with Woodforest(second chance banking, because of other bank problems) it didn't take long to realize that their policies are set up to help the customer. If you do use your debit card and go over your limit, the automatic overdaft protection bails you out. Also it seems with Woodforest things will pend longer which gives you time to make a deposit by their actual closing hour (not other banks close-out time) which most people aren't even off work yet.
