Pros: Large company; Agents in every state Cons: Unethical practices; Excessive coverages
Home ownership is a major responsibility and among the items a homeowner needs to purchase, one of the most critical is homeowners insurance. I have tried several different insurance brands, mostly with a good level of satisfaction. But there will always ...
Pros: Large company, good record of customer satisfaction, helpful agents Cons: None
Most of us hate writing checks to pay the premiums for insurance of any kind. The reason most likely has something to do with the fact that we're shelling out all this money for something we hope we'll never have to use. The fact is, if I don't...
Pros: Excellent Customer Service Cons: Limited Policy Offerings, Cannot Compete With "Favored" Rates
I believe in full disclosure, so let me start off by saying that I am not a Nationwide customer. Now, you might think it a little odd that a non-customer would write a review in praise of a company, but in this case I feel that it is totally...
Pros: Issued credit refund fast. Cons: Wasn't on "our" side.
After hearing all the "bad" stories about insurance companies, my girlfriend and I were cautious with which company to trust for our new home. Being new to home ownership, we asked people for their advice on lenders, real estate agencies, etc. After ...

Pros: Smiling faces...sometimes... pretend to be your friend.... Cons: Read your policy and have an attorney check it before you sign !!!
Nationwide Insurance is one of the top providers in the country and generally has had a good reputation for customer service. I, my sister, and my mom are in the process of looking for other homeowner providers. Here's why.
Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Inexperienced, ignorant agents; unfair policies
I have had homeowners, auto and boat insurance with Nationwide for 14 years, and have never had a claim until recently. We purchased an ATV a couple of years ago, and when we looked into insuring it, we were told that it was covered as utility ...
Pros: personal service, reasonable pricing, discounts Cons: none at this time
I have had a Nationwide Homeowner policy for approximately 11 years. During most of that time it has been a tenant policy. However, I am not treated any differently than a home owner. When I call my agent, I feel like I am talking to a friend. He...
For 19 years I have had Nationwide CAR insurance, and I can say they have been great. When I first bought a house, I had State Farm, and as a young man, didn't realize Nationwide even had Home Insurance.
As a homeowner, with an expensive antique furniture collection, I have spent some time researching insurance companies. I have met with quite a few insurance reps and have considered many companies. The reason I decided on Nationwide was simple. Their...
Pros: Most CSR's were nice and professional. Cons: Communication is poor between CSR's
As a rule of thumb, I typically do not have insurance with the big 3 insurers, Allstate, State Farm, or Nationwide, mostly because it is my opinion that they use cheap tactics to keep from paying on fair claims. I prefer to find insurance myself and get ...

Pros: got our cancellation refund check back quickly Cons: cancelled our policy without trying to work anything out with us.
I purchased an older house (built in 1983) and secured homeowner's insurance from Nationwide for a December 1, 2003 closing. On January 5, 2004 safe and sound in my new home, I received a letter that my insurance was being cancelled because of prior claims on the home. I promptly called the agent who sold the policy to me, who did nothing to help me negotiate with the company. She even claimed that she pulled the damaging CLUE report on the home and that nothing came up when she sold me the policy. She offered to quote me with another company but just told me that I would probably have to go with the high-risk insurance pool.
Never actually got to use the policy since it only lasted a month in a half. I guess my review is of the lack of communication between their salesperson's and underwriters.
They should not be able to sell a policy and then take it back based on information they could have discovered before selling the policy.
How were we supposed to know that the previous owners had filed these claims?
Pros: Nothing Cons: Terrible customer service and everything else
Nationwide has been using the slow rolling tactic down here on the gulf coast. Adjusters can`t make their appointments and when you get one they lose your paperwork and have to send another adjuster. They hope that you get tired, desperate, and settle for less in the end. I`m a 20 year home and auto customer but that makes no difference. If you have major damage, you better hire a public adjuster to represent you for 10% of the claim. If you don`t then nationwide will beat you out of 30 to 50% of the claim. I can tell to they are not "on your side". 4 months after the storm and still nothing.
