Pros: Possibly cheaper rates Cons: Invasion of privacy
I have hear that Progressive Insurance Company is testing an auto insurance policy in TX called the Autograph Policy. This policy supposedly rates you on where, when, and how often you drive your vehicle. This is quite contrary to auto policies offered...

Pros: Fast and easy Cons: They do not send your policy in the mail
I have seen those commercials as you all have on TV that say you can now buy your policy online. Seems great, you can do it when you have time, take time to decided what you want and not have to call those numbers that I hate. I prefer to do everything...

Pros: They do save you money Cons: The are a pain in the butt to deal with after they sign you up
Well, I have Progressive as the Insurance Company for our 1999 Dodge Ram Full Sized Pickup Truck. They are saving me about $900 a year which I am greatful for because my Husband is a student and only works part time.
I agree with you about how...

Best and most affordable!
by thypentacle ,Aug 27 '06
Pros: Great service. Good price. Easy policy management via the website. Cons: NONE
Had them for three years now and have to say that the service is flawless so far.
As for price, they were the cheapest in the country for me when I signed on and the "6 months at a time" pay option saves me money. (They beat Geico by $300 bucks on the 6 month option!)
You also get a safe driver discount if you are not involved in an accident, which is great incentive to keep them as your provider if you're a good defensive driver, and... it saves you even more money!
Customer service seemed pretty fast the few times I needed them and the website is very handy to pay your bill, change your policy, report claims, and about anything else you would need to do. A+ Progressive!

THE ULTIMATE INSURANCE LET DOWN
by megan29720 ,May 24 '05
Pros: There aren't any Cons: Progressive won't pay us what we deserve and are entitled to
We had progressive car insurance for about 4 years, and paid them twice a year $1,080.00 for two cars. In March of 2005 we bought a 2005 Honda Civic VP. A couple of weeks ago it was totalled. We paid $15,175.00 for that car. Progressive would only pay us $12,630.00 and it had 4K miles on it. The adjuster claims he called two honda dealers and said the kelly blue book value of that car was 13,000.00. I would like for progressive to tell us those dealers because If I can find a car just like mine for 13,000.00 I'd buy it on the spot! Progressive has royally done us in. We've lost around 5,000.00 thanks to them. We still owe honda money for that car and still have to buy another one. If you have progressive I suggest you make a change quickly.

Not so good for paying claims
by padre3210 ,Nov 07 '06
Pros: They DID pay for the car. Cons: They do not pay documented expenses. You may have to sue.
My spouse was in an accident where the other driver was cited. The car was totalled. There were over $10,000 in medical expenses. Progressive offered us $8500!! No pay for missed work, and 3/4 of the medical only!! We were forced to get an attorney, and still they wouldn't move. We had to file suit against the driver, at which point the offer was raised, enough to cover the medical, but not enough to cover the medical, days off AND the attorney's fees. If you want your claim to not be paid,, and you like being sued personally, use Progressive! THIS is why they may be cheaper. This happened a year and a half ago, and we have had to pay many of the expenses ourselves as we were being hounded by the various caregivers. The case is still pending!

You get what you pay for...
by rogue5777 ,Sep 17 '08
Pros: fast claim response Cons: They don't pay their claims fully (see above).
MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE - Progressive WILL NOT pay the full amount of the claim. You will end up paying any remaining repair bill required out of pocket to get you vehicle back into "pre-collision" condition. I took my bike to a reputable shop I trusted to do a good job, and charged standard labor rates, and factory prices on parts. Progressive informed my shop that THEY decided that the repair was only valued at approx. 50% of the actual repair costs, and would pay only that amount. I guess my option in the future would be to take my bike to a cheapo shop who would cut corners to make it worth their while to do the repair at Progressive's pay rate. ....not the way I want my bike repaired. Fortunately, my repair was minor. My buddy had to get a lawyer and sue progressive to get them to pay the hospital bills related to a more serious bike accident. Not inflated pain-and-suffering costs, just the actual hospital bills. AVOID PROGRESSIVE AT ALL COSTS

Wouldn't Recommend Them
by progressivesuc ,Mar 02 '08
Pros: None Cons: Bad service, won't give you what your car's worth
I made a claim with Progressive and got the worst service of my life. The guy even yelled at me. I complained to his supervisor, but he didn't care at all. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone- they're not that cheap and they make money by insuring anybody and then ripping their customers off. Now, it's well over a month since my accident, and I have yet to receive a check.

Too expensive and I didn't even see the comparison module
by jsjsjsjs ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: none for me, shop around at other sites Cons: Cost much more, pay 6 months together for "reduced" rate thats still double.
I went through there website, forgot to compare b/c I needed to get insured that day. So, in 6 months when was expiring I went to insure.com to compare and it cost me LESS THAN HALF (ALMOST 1/4th!!!!) for the SAME LEVELS OF COVERAGE. So, I actually added some coverage and it is still about 16 months with Liberty Mutual for the price of 6 months with Progressive.

RIP OFF
by fbntrucks ,Nov 14 '06
Pros: I cannot think of any pros for this insurance company at this moment. Cons: Too high, charged for coverage after trying to cancel.
My husband and I own 2 Peterbilt trucks. We bought insurance (paid for 2 months up front) for one of these trucks through Progressive. Before 1 month was up, we were able to get insurance for both trucks through the company we leased on to; consequently I called to cancel the insurance through Progressive and was told that we had to cancel our MC numbers, which is the operating authority for commerical hauling. At that point, I called and canceled the operating authority since we were then under another company's authority. I was never given a refund for the complete month that we did not have insurance through Progressive, and in fact was charged an additional amount. I would never recommend them for any type of insurance and will be sure to tell others how lousy I feel their "customer service" department is. They are more than willing to take your money, but canceling the insurance is next to impossible.

Great customer service and rates
by tgis ,Jul 06 '04
Pros: Rate three times cheaper than 21st century. Cons: So far, none!
After 15 years with 21st century, and a new car policy of 3 times more than the previous one, it was time to shop around. Having 2 points on a record (speeding + running on a parking lot over a rock), I knew that it won't be easy, but I gave it a try. Progressive gave me exactly the same coverage as 21st century for $245/mo, instead of $606/mo. I'm very pleased with the service so far.

Progressive Lied
by chatterk81 ,Jan 31 '07
Pros: to upset to remember any... Cons: Lied about claims, customer service said they couldn't access my information
Long story short I was in an accident, after a couple weeks of investigation and phone calls I was told I was not at fault and insurance was fine. Great. Well, two years later and shopping for homeowners, gave auto info to see if I could get a better quote only to find out my rates will be SUPER HIGH if I switch b/c I have a claim on my file. Progressive LIED, told me I was not at fault and then paid a claim in my name. This is unfair and so very unethical. I strongly advise not to switch to Progressive. Do your homework. I am now stuck with them until my claim is expired otherwise I will pay ridiculous rates with someone else. What a joke.

Always accessible
by dldstorm ,Apr 19 '04
Pros: Great Access
Fast claims response Cons: none
It's great having a company that I can call/or go online 24/7. I've always gotten an answer to my question quickly and the staff has always been professional/polite.
I love being able to go online and make payments, etc. It's been several years now and my rates have changed very little. I had another agent quote me recently and not one of the 3 companies he offered was within $100.
Claims is incredibly fast and second to none.
Highly recommend.

Progressive or Esurance
by uttersmd ,Jan 06 '06
Pros: Great Website, Cheaper than Progressive, Someone answered the phone Cons: Non yet! We shall see
I have been with Progressive for 15 years. I have also had substantial claims with them. I have only good things to say about the claim process. However my driving record has been great for years, no tickets. However my bill never decreased. I contacted Esurance today and my quote was 1/2 that of Progressive. Same Maximum Coverage, same deductible. 1/2 as much $$. Esurance has a great website, someone spoke english when I called their customer support. I signed up today. The wife will be pleased!

Horrible Service in Madison WI
by sjswe ,Jun 25 '05
Pros: None Cons: All
I have had the worst experience! A drunk driver took out my parked car. She had Progressive insurance. Progressive has done a poor job of keeping in communication with me. The day I was told my car would be ready, I finally got in touch with someone only to find out they are going to total it. I didn't hear back from Progressive for 2 weeks, so I put a contract down to buy a car. The auto body shop where Progressive took my crashed car told me they were almost done fixing my car (the car that Progressive told me was totaled). I'm on hold with their main phone switchboard right now trying to find someone to help. Tricia Lempke, Steve Hover, and Steve Koets all failed to do their jobs adequately. I wish I knew if my car is being fixed or totaled (the accident happened 4 weeks ago).
