Pros: everything improved from BG1, excellent graphics, gameplay, everything Cons: nothing other than loadtimes.
Baldur's Gate 1 was good. It wasn't perfect, due to some glitches, lack of high res mode, some plot and so forth. Apparently Black Isle has been listening to its gamers. Baldur's Gate II is a immense jump from BG1.
Pros: complex and interesting plot; great graphics, sound and character interaction; huge replayability Cons: extremely addictive!
I’ve been away from here for quite a while, so if the following jumble of words and expressions turns out to be total and utter rubbish, don’t be surprised. However, I feel that from many hours of interesting, frustrating, and ultimately wasted attempts...
Pros: Not too linear. Quests wait for you.
Lots of variations. Cons: None that I've found really
I've had this game for just over a year now and played it off and on throughout this time when not out of town on business or vacation. (Actual time spent playing probably 2-3 months worth of real time)
Pros: immersive/addictive gameplay, gigantic gaming world, limitless character development, engaging NPC interactions, imaginative storyline, infinitesimal sidequests Cons: not the best graphics, takes a while to figure out the controls
(NOTE: This is a [slightly modified] reprint of a review I wrote many months ago on this site but shortly thereafter deleted.)
Where should I begin? This game was one of the most talked-about CRPGs (computer role-playing games, for all you...
Pros: Looks like fun... Cons: Only I can't play it.
What the hell is up with Interplay? I mean, you know you're sucking wind when your stock is at $3.50 and you're hurting so badly you have to get rescued by Titus...the people that made Superman 64!
Pros: twisted and intricate plot, new enemies and character classes, great graphics and sound, new additions and modifications Cons: what the heck are ya talkin' about?
Ah, the light of day, it was nice when the sun was still out there. It used to pop up
everyday, reaching my monitor with its beams of light, telling me another real day had passed. That was until I hermetically closed the windows, locking...
Pros: Lovely graphics, improved voice acting, instantly compelling plot, faithful to AD&D rules, Interesting quests and sib-quests. Cons: Same annoying characters from BG1, Low end PII's might find the going a little slow, Pointless and out of character humour ruins atmosphere are times (but nowhere near as often or as badly as in BG1)
Over the last few years, Black Isle and Bioware have rarely been mentioned in the same breath as words such as "disappointing" or "Failure" and despite the fact that I myself was not overly impressed with...
Pros: Great puzzles, more than hack-n-slash. Cons: Gets a bit hard.
Baldur's Gate 2 is the continuing saga of roleplaying fantasy from Black Isle. Directly based on Advanced Dungeons and Dragons ( and by direct, I mean DIRECT. There is no way I feel they could make it closer to what D&D should be ), this RPG...
I love role-playing. Everything from table-top to computer, play-by-mail to gadding about in the countryside in strange clothing with rubber weapons. Having spent some time looking for a really good role-playing game that I can play on my computer, I...
Pros: Story, Gameplay, Quests Cons: Point and Click
I waited a long time to get this game even though I thoroughly enjoyed Baldurs Gate I. I needed a break and I knew if I bought this game I could pretty much forget about doing anything but playing it for several weeks. I was right.
Pros: Graphics, playability, depth of development Cons: Occasional limitations in terms of character choices
Now that I'm in my 30s, I'm supposed to have outgrown Dungeons and Dragons. Dancing swords, magical spells, the interference of petty deities in the affairs of men and all other forms of such silliness are supposed to be beneath me. According to...
Pros: Can I list them all! It's Baldur's Gate, only better! Cons: Do they have a support group for this kind of addiction?
I played the original version of Baldur's Gate with and without the expansion pack a few time through… After a time I got bored, but the timing was right and the interplay people released Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn just in time! I LOVE this...
Pros: mucho space and adventure, good story, a lot of control of everything, expansive Cons: starts a little slow, can be corny humor and suspect path finding
Most of the reviews that I've seen have appreciated the first Baldur's Gate over this sequel. In my ...
Pros: Very intricate plot combined with excellent graphics and sound. Cons: Gory, with some adult themes. May not be suitable for younger children.
Having only had the game for a couple of weeks I still believe I can give a useful and informative opinion on Baldur’s Gate II! This game will take several months to complete, but I do not think that the extra few months of playing will change any of my...
Pros: the opportunity to play this game. Cons: the difficulty level, and temporary loss of social life.
This game is easily one of THE best RPG's I have ever played. You will most likely lose A LOT of free time to this one! Black Isle has literally outdone themselves this time. I think what I liked the most was the main characters' interaction with all the...
