Pros: Pretty rolling hills, lots of trees, low cost. Cons: Short length
The previous review is for a new course opened in 2002 which serves as the home of the Baylor University golf teams. Bear Ridge was designed by Peter Jacobsen and stretches to 7478 yds from the back tees and has 5 sets of tees so it is playable for all ...
Pros: Green and lush, nice clubhouse, just right distance pars, nice bunkers Cons: Houses and developments creating hazards, check maintenance days
This course changed its name to Bear Ridge. Anyway heres my review of this course:
Its a great value, $21 weekdays, takes about 4 hrs to play, good greens and very challenging holes. Its my second favorite after Lake Waco C.C. Theres some sand bunkers but not too many, some water which is mostly out of the way, and trees- lots of trees. You can be penalized by mis-hits severly, as the trees are thick and abundant. Be sure to check when they do maintenance, as the sand and air the green regularly making it impossible to putt (ever putted a white green?) Good rolling fairways, which make this course one you need to play several times to manage you shots. Has GPS which is a definite plus also. They keep it green, not burnt as some courses are here in Texas. Houses can also be a little problem on some holes, as theres a development on part of the course and some areas "under sonstruction. All in all a great course to play multiple times, not too long but not short. Most par 4's are 250-350 yds making it easy for shorter hitters. I recommend it!
