Pros: Good looks, quieter than other dishwashers, water savings Cons: Expensive to install, long wash cycles, unreliable, EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, BROKE IN 5 YEARS!
This model is sleek, attractive and all of the buttons are flush with the unit. The inside is also stainless steel and larger than my old dishwasher. But I was disappointed to find I could not load my top rack with dinner plates as was suggested in ...

Prelude My mom purchased a new dishwasher about 3 years ago to this day. I was very excited about this purchase. I am a teenage male but this new addition to our family hopefully would make my chores easier and the TV more audible. You see, our ...
Pros: Quiet, good-looking, cleans and dries well. Cons: Expensive, fingerprinting, can wet floor when opened mid-cycle, not great capacity, odd smell when new.
Any dishwasher will clean the dishes; you pay Bosch bucks for quiet and looks. So how does it do?
Quiet: It's not "so quiet you have to put your ear against it". It is, however, quiet enough that you mostly forget it's on, even in the same...
Pros: No rinsing, dishes some out great Very quiet Cons: none
I've had my dishwasher for almost 2 years. We run 4-5 loads a week. And it still looks and acts brand new.
Worth every penny.

Pros: Quiet, extra space, environmental, good looks Cons: filter needs changing
My fiancee and I bought the Bosch 53 series dishwasher to replace an old Maytag model that died. We did a moderate amount of research on the purchase. But we're very glad we ultimately went with Bosch. Here were our pros and cons:
Pros: Quite operation, when operating and not broken down. Cons: Read my review. They are German engineering at its worst.
I have had a Bosch dishwasher for 7 years. I bought the dishwasher, which was at a premium price, over other brands, thinking that German engineering would be good. After three years and just out of warranty, the printed circuit board burnt out, the ...
Pros: Stainless interior. Racks, baskets have held up well. Quiet. Cons: Control Panel repair/replacement cost.
I wasn't thrilled with the Bosch to start with. Hubby said, "Buy a Bosch," so I did. Actually, I looked at a Kenmore model that had all the same features as the Bosch did and was a couple hundred cheaper....BUT I bought the Bosch. The appearance is ...
Pros: Quiet, efficient cycles. Quick/Econo cycle does a good job.
Cons: Leaks.
We were generally happy with this machine, until we discovered that it had a small leak at the front of the machine (door gasket). This was after about 18 months and only running it about 30 times, but it had been going on for a while since there was a ...
Pros: CLEANS VERY QUIETLY Cons: Costly unless you value clean dishes done quietly.
After doing hours of online research and hours in the stores, we chose the Bosch SHU 53 series dishwasher. Reviews here on EPINIONS.com sure helped us to make our decision. We replaced our top of the line Kenmore with the Bosch and prayed that we did...
Pros: Uses little water or electricity. Cons: Had two product failures in three years.
Bought unit expecting German reliability and solid engineering. After three years of ownership, I must admit I wasted my money. I have experienced two product failures that were not covered by the flimsy warranty.
Pros: Quiet, cleans well, uses less water Cons: Expensive repairs, Warranty very limited, short life span
In 1998 our 10 year old inexpensive Frigidaire dishwasher was leaking. We bought a Bosch 5300 series on the recommendation of friends who also owned one and were happy with theirs. For 3 years, I was very pleased with the quietness and cleaning...
Pros: Nice look, quiet, easy to use, easy to clean. Cons: Absurd attitude from Bosch, not as sturdy as Miele
Even a brand new one won't work. I bought Bosch because of the brand name (I own several Bosch powertools) and it's kind of standard d/w in most houses. However, due to the delay on the remodeling project, the unit (in its original box) was sitting in ...
Pros: Very quiet, low water consumption, cleans extreemly well, good choice of cycles. Cons: Cost, smudges on stainless, holds only small amount of rinse agent, no active dry cycle.
I purchased my Bosch dishwasher based on reviews and reports available at the timeI was looking. Most of my decision was based on the stainless features, cycle types, quietness, cleaning ability and overall reputation of quality. At over $900 for a...
Pros: QUIET, cleans well, good looking Cons: long cycle time
We had a 1987 GE 2800 (top of the line then, with a solid state control panel. Well, the control panel died. The result was: no lights, but the heater came on permanently.
It's quiet and looks great.... by spyc ,Nov 15 '03
Pros: It looks good and is quiet. Cons: Expensive and might look for a replacement if Bosch doesn't rectify the problems.
...just wish it would operate better. The long cycle can take hours and I MEAN HOURS. It doesn't dry that well unless it has plenty of drying agent. It only likes one kind of detergent. The others leave cloudy dishes and huge spots and not like those little ones you see on TV. Also as a log home builder, and I built my own cabinets, this thing is slightly taller than all dishwashers I have installed and may interfere with door opening and closing function. I had to sand the bull nose cultured marble counter top back a little to allow door to work correctly. Contacted Bosch about the detergent door operation. Their reply didn't help and suggested I call a repair technician. It's less than four years old and for the price this thing should have less maintenance involved.
Pros: Quiet Cons: Pre-heater broke twice now (error code 2H)
I have not had good luck with this Bosch dishwasher, and from searching a few forums I've found other have had similar problems. I've had the "2H" error code twice now. The first time it happened a month after the warranty expired and cost about $225 to fix. Now I've got the same error code. I'm told it's the pre-heater that gets the water up to the proper cleaning temperature you need to get your dishes truly clean. It is a quiet dishwasher but I'm into it for $450 in repairs and I expect a lot more from a brand that costs this much. Totally dissatisfied customer.
Pros: Quiet operation. Cons: Disposable, short term dishwasher.
Paid eight hundred for our built in Bosch dishwasher in 2004. As soon as the warranty ran out so did the pump which drives the washer arms. It costs $465 to fix and Bosch has no interest in helping. We only use our machine half of each year as we are away each winter. Bosch has built a lot of expensive junk and has done some clever marketing which has convinced many of us to fall into the trap. Don't do it.
Pros: Very quite when working Cons: Not made well and very unsafe.
My Bosch built in stainless steel dishwasher is only two years old. Electrical circuitry has shorted out and could have caused a fire. Plastic face panel has been painted to look like stainless steel and the paint wore off at corners almost immediately after installed. Can get no customer support from Bosch. The unit was very expensive over $1100 and didn't last two years. Besides it could have caused a fire.
wonderful german engineering by ksig219 ,Jun 15 '04
Pros: quietness and cleaning capability. Cons: racks not as deep as some american manufacturers.
had my bosch dishwasher for 2 years now and not a problem. I love the quietness and the cleaning capability. This may not be the quietest machine that bosch makes but many friends and relatives can hardly believe that it is running when it is. definately recommend this dishwasher to others. the racks may not be as deep as some other american brands but for me being a single person its fine.
Pros: Well, I guess I can say the stainless steel exterior looks nice. Cons: It doesn't work and Bosch won't stand behind their product.
Our Bosch dishwasher was purchased by the previous homeowner only three years ago. It has messed up now. It takes hours to complete the cycle and obviously isn't working correctly. I checked and this seems to be a very common problem with this particular model. I have talked to the customer service people at Bosch and they will only pay for a new circuit board - not labor. I can buy a new dishwasher for what we would spend in labor on a dishwasher that is obviously defective.
A company making high end products such as this should stand behind the products. When a large number of people have the exact same problem with the same model, obviously there is a problem with that model. Bosch should correct the problem at their expense.
Companies producing cheaper models stand behind their products better than Bosch.
Pros: Looks nice and expensive - and it is thanks to repairs! Cons: Constant expensive repairs.
When the installer came, he said "You won't be happy with this dishwasher!" He was 100% correct. This Bosch was very expensive to purchase and has been nothing but trouble. We've had one repair after another - just as predicted. "Customer Service" is not a concept Bosch embraces. This is the worst appliance we have ever owned.
Bosch SHU 5302 - Repair Regularly by rstoo ,Jul 04 '07
Pros: Quiet, attractive clean profile, stainless interior. Cons: Plastic parts seem to break down in time requiring regular repairs or replacement.
Since I just finished repairing my dishwasher again today, and while this is fresh on my mind, for the first time I thought I should share with the forum that I often seek reviews from.
I bought this for our new home about 7-8 years ago. It seems to do a good job cleaning, is attractive and very quiet. However the biggest problem is that plastic parts continue to break over time. I have had to twice replace the control module housing and once the dispenser door assembly. I did the repairs myself but if I had had to pay for a service I might instead have replaced with some other brand.
I might still consider buying another Bosch but the next model would the style with the stainless exterior door that has the control module built in to the top of the door, as I would expect this model has less plastic to break over time.
Pros: It looks nice Cons: It is noisy, doesn't clean and is in need of constant repair
I purchased my Bosch dishwasher after researching consumer reports. What a mistake. I have spent$500 on repairs. The electronic board has broken twice as well as the water valve needed to be replaced. The electronic board is now broken again but Bosch refuses to extend the warranty on this obviously faulty part. After the first year of use It became very noisy but the repairman said he can't fix it. We have to scrub and rinse everything before loading because it doesn't clean well either. I will never buy a Bosch again.
Bosch is actually a Nordic word that means sh-t! by drewmo57 ,Feb 06 '07
Pros: Quiet. Cons: It broke down after 11 months. Unacceptable.
The Bosch dishwasher is quiet and it cleans as well as any other dishwasher. But it just broke down after 11 months. I paid a lot of money for something unreliable. This is not acceptable. I had a Kitchen Aid in my last house and it never gave me a moments trouble even after 11 years. When I replace this Bosch I would get a Kitchen Aid again.
Bought to replace an old, noisy Kitchenaid. Was impressed with low noise level and stainless interior. This is a good dishwasher EXCEPT the electronic control panel has broken four times in five years (microswitch relays). I won't buy another Bosch unless they correct this.
This machine is the most... by chucky_dt3000 ,Jun 15 '02
This machine is the most efficient that I have ever owned. It lives up to the advertisment of the company. All of the features do what was expected. The only down side to the machine is if you have less than 3 people in the household, or you don't cook very often, it is an overkill.
We bought this dishwasher to... by leonid_dt3000 ,Nov 21 '02
We bought this dishwasher to replace one that came with our new home. Wew've had it in service for 3 years. The performance and quietness is unbeatable.
The only glitch was a timer board that got "fried". However, electronic parts come with a 5 year warranty and all it cost was the labor for a service call (less than $100). In additiona the replacment part came with its' own warranty.
If you are considering replacing your dishwasher do not hesitate to purchase Bosch.
Great machine and very quite.... by bob01606_dt3000 ,Feb 08 '03
Great machine and very quite. In fact, the only way to know it is running is to see that the timer is on or you can hear the water draining.
The first repair occured only after 2-1/2 years. A control panel was fried. The cost of the part was covered under warranty but the labor was $160.00. For such a quality built dishwasher, you would think that they would improve on the instumentation to meet the same level of quality as the rest of the dishwasher.
Pros: Very quiet, dishes are spotless. Cons: Difficult installation
I've had this dishwasher for about 6 months now, and must say that I love, love, love it! I can't imagine a dishwasher working better than this one. This is one quiet and well engineered machine. The stainless interior and nylon coated racks say quality. It only requires the smallest amount of detergent--I probably use about a quarter of the amount I used in my old Whirlpool (which wasn't that old, by the way, when we had to send it to it's maker thanks to the homesteading prowess of a couple of rodents!) The adjustable rinse aid dispenser is equally frugal. Small adjustments after the first few loads now give me streak-free glasses. I worried a bit about the absence of a heating element for drying, but didn't need to. The dishes dry beautifully. The one downfall is that the unit was quite difficult to install. The combined peculiarities of the Bosch installation and our unique kitchen configuration meant several trips by the contractor before it was installed. I would, however, go through all the aggrivation again in a minute for this machine.
Pros: The exterior looks very hi-tech, but don't judge a book by it's cover. Cons: Started leaking 6 months after purchase, and springs a new leak about every 3 years.
We purchased the dishwasher when we remodeled our kitchen 7 yrs. ago. We spent $821 on the thing because we thought that it was superior in terms of engineering and appearance. We got bleeding edge technology. It began giving us trouble in just 6 months. The door leaked and ruined our new red oak kitchen floor. The local factory authorized repair company replaced the dispenser and door liner twice, about 3 years apart, and recommended replacing it a third time, when I said "no, I'll do it myself!" We live in a metropolitan area of 1.7 million people, so you'd think that the factory trained servicemen would have some degree of competence. I replaced the door gasket myself for less than $25, which was about $270 less than the factory repairman quoted us. It hasn't leaked in about 2 1/2 years. The only problem is that now it wont drain. We had a Kitchen Aid before, and we never had a problem with it. It was about 20 years old.
Very Unhappy with my Bosch by scampeau ,Jul 28 '04
Pros: It looks pretty and it's quiet Cons: does not clean plastic and does not evenly clean.
I just purchased the Bosch Dishwasher and I am not happy with it's performance. It does a lousy job on anything plastic. I have to basically clean ANYTHING plastic before it goes in the dishwasher. This includes hard plastic items such as the food processor bowl. Also, knives with serrated edges leave food stuck in the tines. I also have a few glasses that have a film on them after washing or leave coffee/tea stains. I never had these problems with my much less expensive Kenmore.
I would NOT recommend this dishwasher. Had service out and the service person even told me they generally have a problem with plastic. I am currently 'negotiating' with Bosch to get these problems resolved but I am not hopeful.
