Pros: SO EASY TO USE! STYLE IS TOP NOTCH! CLEANS IN SILENCE! Cons: nONE
Fisher & Paykel DD602, the dishDRAWER that turns your kitchen into the most stylish look imaginable, while it cleans your dishes using less energy, less detergent, and is the most silent dishwasher on the market!
Pros: Convenience, style, effective washing, quiet, flexible, on and convenience, convenience, convenience. Cons: None. Zero.
I've read some of the reviews about people not liking these, and I can't understand their dissatisfaction..... We installed a pair of these (over/under) in conjunction with a remodel 12 months ago. Our other appliances in this remodel: Thermador 48" ...
Pros:Very convenient, saves splashed clothing, guilt-free small loads Cons: Not for houses with small children, things can go wrong, Requires a TRAINED installer!
I figure people in the market for a higher-end dishwasher will be evaluating Bosch, Miele, Asko, and Fisher-Paykel. The F&P is the most expensive of the three, by a bit, but worth every single penny!
Pros: Easy Loading/unloading, low water use, energy saving, delayed programming, QUIET Cons: Expensive
When my husband & I were looking for appliances for our new home I was very focused on a dishwasher that used less soap, less water and could be programmed to delayed start. I looked at Bosch and Kitchenaide, and the Fisher Pykel dish drawers. The...
Pros: stylish appearance Cons: poor performance, frequent repairs, cost, no food disposer, can't accommodate some taller dishes
The Dishdrawer looks great, but that's not the sole reason to purchase a dishwasher. Other than its looks, I can't think of one reason why anyone should buy this machine. Before we demanded that it be removed by the manufacturer, my husband and I used...
Pros: Small loads are easy, quiet, pretty Cons: Unsanitary, bad fit & finish, watch video to operate
As household member in charge of dishes, my husband bought a Fisher-Paykel dishdrawer just before our first child arrived. Our previous, 10-year-old dishwasher was fairly noisy and had begun to leak. My husband liked F-P's quiet performance, two-drawer...
Pros: Advanced Technology cleans dishes with 4 gallons of water. Cons: There is a right way and a wrong way to load this dishwasher.
Some expect a dishwasher to wash all traces of an entire birthday cake down to clog their plumbing no matter how drunk they were while loading it. Those units consume about 14 gallons of water per cycle on average. Its in your owners manual.
...
Pros: Efficient, guilt free 1/2 loads, quiet, roomy, great dishes when loaded correctly.Functional. Cons: Had problems within 1st 9 months of owning. Getting service difficult.
Well thought out for space. The racks are easy to add or remove. It is so roomy that I can fit even my stove cartridges for cleaning in one drawer and oven components in the other. It does a good job cleaning and drying when loaded as instructed in the...
We have an old (1720) house with a foundation built on rock, so many kitchen appliances didn't fit under our counters. The dishdrawer seemed like the perfect solution to our problem. We balked at the price, but the stylish look and the ecologically...
Pros: Great looks.
Convenience of two dishwashers.
Quiet operation Cons: Temperamental if improperly loaded or if dishes not rinsed properly
High maintenance
With all that implies... First, it looks great! It cleans well, and is extremely quiet. I recommend using Cascade Complete powder detergent. Do not use liquid detergents. Now for the bad. This dishwasher is like a late 60's Jaguar E-Type with ...
Pros: Economical,Pots and dishes at the same time. Wine glass rack.Easy reach. Cons: none
I have had my double dish drawer for over 3 yrs. I have had one service call at about 1 year because something got stuck but if I had bothered to take the racks and motor out and run a wire through the tube I could have fixed it myself in about 5 ...
Last year we completely remodeled our kitchen and replaced all of the appliances. Our prior appliances were top of the line: Maytag, Sub-Zero, etc., in keeping with our high standards and expectations. We liked the F&P's looks and were intrigued by...
Pros: Stylish, energy efficient, quiet, flexible Cons: none
We recently had a two drawer Fisher & Paykel unit installed and have not been disappointed. We had an excellent salesman who pointed out many of the benefits of this product, and he proved to be correct. The unit looks quite stylish in our kitchen. The...
I have experience with both the previous model DD602I and the newer DD603I. Fisher & Paykel have done an excellent job with the new model DD603. When I purchased the first model DD602I dishdrawers my house was under construction. I used them for a short...
Pros: Cleans dishes well, quiet, practical for the kosher kitchen Cons: Broke early, long time delay for repair, service people lack familiarity with unit
Our model broke less than 1 month after we bought it. In the middle of the night, while the unit was doing a timer wash, I woke to hear it beeping incessantly, indicating a error fault which was unclear as to the cause by the instructions. The only way...
Pros: Stylish, good warranty Cons: Expensive, needs the warranty, doesn't clean or dry well, prone to breakdowns.
I loved the design of this dishwasher. I read the reviews and saw that some people had trouble with it. I also saw that some people loved it. I took a chance on it. We have struggled with it for about 4 years and are giving up. It is underpowered. If you ...
Pros: I suppose the double drawers can be useful. Cons: Unreliable and expensive to repair all the time. Mediocre performance doesn't match price.
On the whole this has been a highly frustrating product, with many major annoyances; when forking out large wads of money for a 'premium' brand like Fisher and Paykel, one would hope to be ensured of a pleasant owning experience. In fact, this is one of ...
Pros: Easy to Use, 2 Dishwashers in one, creates more drawer space Cons: More difficult than average dishwashers to install - marginally
Just a great idea, 2 dishwashers in one, no need to continue stack and unstack, we use one for dirty and one for clean, then we rotate, saves arguments over who is stacking and unstacking, simple to use, cleans dishes well and was quieter than our old...
Pros: No bending over for dishware. Very easy to use. Quiet. Thorough. Cons: None
We live "off the grid" using solar panels for our source of electricity and catchment water, well, for our water. So the Fisher & Paykel energy efficient DishDrawer is perfect for us. It cleans and dries beautifully and we have only used the "fast"...
Pros: none Cons: Cannot be fixed if ANYTHING goes wrong - you're screwed
Approximately 3 months after we purchased the dishdrawer - it stopped working properly. When the top drawer washed, the bottom one filled with dirty water, when the bottom drawer washed, the top one filled with dirty water. Called Fisher/Paykel - used ...
Pros: Very streamline and attractive. Uses minimal soap and water. Easy to operate. Quiet. Cons: Some large pans and tall utensils do not fit.
Even after both of my DishDrawers were struck by lightening and had to be replaced (after being used only 10 days) I would still recommend these beauties. I have a single dishdrawer on either side of the sink. Design options are endless!! This set up...
Pros: Appearance-asthetically it fit very well in my remodeled kitchen and small loads are possible. Cons: It does not clean the dishes, platters do not fit in either of the drawers
I would NEVER, EVER purchase this product again. It does not clean the dishes. I have had this dishwasher for 2 1/2 years, had 5 service calls and the dishes still do not come out clean. The servicemen have come to "fix" it but cannot give me an ...
Pros: Appearance! Cons: Quality, Sevice and functionality. Please read my letter to F&P and judge for yourself!
To Whom it may concern,I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank you for refusing to stand behind your sub-standard, inferior product (dishdrawer DD602). It has given me the time to research your company and uncover just how ...
Pros: Low energy use, easy to load and unload, looks great Cons: A little bit of a learning curve, leaks if overloaded, no disposer
A lot of the complaints here are about leaks. We had a leak the first few months after buying it. These could probably be avoided. The technician came out, got everything dried out on the unit and then gave me the best advice for this machine, ...
When this machine is working, it washes dishes quite well. You have to get used to the idea that it is really two small dishwashers packaged together, and pay attention to loading effectively. Noise level is good, but not as good as Bosch.
My big problem with this machine is that the design is prone to failures. The "drawer" design mandates a complicated sealing mechanism which includes a pneumatic seal around the top of the drawer. We have had three failures in 3 1/2 years of this part. As you might expect, shipping new parts from New Zealand takes more time than you want(!).
We've also had a control unit failure that resulted in major overheating of the unit, and required a major rebuild.
If your needs are such that the size and design of the unit are ideal, well then . . . . But be prepared for water leaks.
We've had our Fisher Paykel dish drawer for 4 years and have had our hardwood floors flooded at least three times. Numerous error codes, service calls, and not very clean dishes. Now the control unit has failed and is nearly $300.00 (not including installation) to replace. There are two so we figure its a matter of time before the 2nd unit fails as well. The only positive reviews must come from people who wash their dishes before they put them in the drawer or employees of the company...
I Love My Fisher & Paykel Dish Drawers! by vhiggins ,Feb 17 '05
Pros: Durable, Quiet, Economical, Beautiful....what more can I say. Cons: None.
We built our home in 2001 and installed 2 Fisher & Paykel Dish Drawers (stacked) after a recommendation from our accountant that she installed the dish drawers in her new home and loved them.
It's now 2005 and I'm still in love with my dish drawers! We are in the process of selling our home and building another new home. Everyone is awestruck over the dish drawers. They are beautiful, quiet, durable and comparable in price when in comparison to other higher-end appliances. Our kitchen is very large with Hickory cabinets, Dacor 6-burner duel fuel stainless steel range and the Fisher & Paykel stainless steel dish drawers just finish off our kitchen so well.
We will definitely install Fisher & Paykel Dish Drawers in our new home and any other home we may own in the future. Outstanding product! Extremely satisfied customer.
Pros: Good Storage Cons: Price, Performance, Reliabilty
This is the worse dishwasher I have ever owned. We moved into a home with a 1yr old DD-602 and thought, hey this looks cool. It breaks down every couple of months, I think a sesame seed got stuck in it this time;) You have to load it just right or forget it. Prewash all the dishes or else, I guess that sesame seed slipped through... Plastics come out wet, that's real handy.. I think after this latest service call it's the end of the line for this beast. I'm going to drag it to the curb and let someone else experience the misery. Then off to Sears to see if my old reliable $350 Maytag is still available.
Pros: Neat configuration - especially for small loads Cons: breaks down too often
I bought my DD-602 18 months ago. Since then, we've called the service repairmen 5 times and once again it is broken. The dishwasher is nicely configured but it's not worth the unreliability.
Pros: Looks fantastic, very very quiet Cons: Poor reliability- seems to have computer glitches
Wow- I am so discouraged with my Fisher-Paykel Dish Drawer- I thought I was getting the best dishwasher available.
My first one went on the fritz after multiple repair attempts it was replaced by the dealer. The second one worked fine for exactly 7 months and now it is inoperative. It seems difficult to get in touch with repair guys that fix it as well.
I am very sorry I strayed from my personal buy-American strategy.
Worse dishwasher (if you can call it that) we've ever had. by joycemcahren ,Jan 21 '05
Pros: They look good. Cons: Plastic parts break, it leaks, won't drain, won't lock, doesn't have a food grinder.
Being made out of the U.S. might negate the possibility of a class action suit, but if anyone would like to file one for the millions of American's who are extremely dissatisfied with this piece of junk, count us in. Unless you wash the dishes before "washing", they'll look clean coming out of the dishwasher. If you leave one spec of food, it will plug up and won't drain because it isn't equipped with a grinder that all other dishwashers have. All the dishwasher repair people admit that they have more calls on F.P. than any other make. We have given up on calling repair people because it isn't under warranty any more. When it plugs up (on the average of once or twice a week,) we have to take it apart, blow out the pipes and put it back together. There are also plastic parts that have broken inside that have had to be replaced. It also leaks. It won't lock. When we can afford it, will tear out our two drawers in the kitchen and replace them with a real dishwasher.
Pros: Your friends and family think it is really clever! Cons: Maintenance and reliability is awful!
We have had this dishwasher for 6 1/2 years and have now had repair service 6 times! We are waiting for our 7th call and figure it is time to throw it out with the lousy job it does cleaning the dishes. If you have to wash the dishes first, why have a dishwasher.....? The tines have broken, the bottom washer is incredibly loud and the repair costs have us pulling our hair out. Yes, the 2 drawers make all your guests think you have a "cool" dishwasher, they just are not there when it is time to unload... Think twice before buying this one!
Pros: When it works ... quiet Cons: It doesn't work. No replacement supplied.
Describe your experience using this product.
My experience is that this product is not built to be used but to be looked at. One month after my purchase I began having problems with the product not finishing a cycle as well as having error messages. The company where I purchased the product was called and they sent a repairman. So far different repairmen have been over to my home six different times. This past week, I finally called F&P. I've requested to have my lemon replaced since it is still under warranty. So far, I have not heard back from F&P. This purchase has not been a good experience for me.
Why did you buy this product?
I bought this product because I was told it was able to do the job ... it had dual drawers ... and it was quiet.
Great functionality and bad quality by izikronen ,May 17 '04
Pros: functional and easy to use Cons: Delicate and not for long use
We leave in Israel and we acquire the double model a year ago. We enjoy very much the functionality but technicians had to fix it four times allready (In first year).
The machines work fine and clean and dry dishes quite good,Not so succefull with pans or very oily dishes.
The main problem is internal connections which become loose and then they had change the main central unit with the motor because of a small particle which damaged the pump. Now they are asking for a limited one year service a sum of 180$ a year (for now).
We recommend users to handle the item very carefully and clean in carefully if glass is broken inside.
Pros: Quiet Cons: Unreliable, poor quality, very expensive repairs
Avoid Fisher Paykel as it is a waste of money, poor service, poor quality. We have had our dishdrawer almost 4 years. The service technician (the only one who services our county)charges almost $300 for a service call and he can not keep the dishdrawer running. Hoses keep breaking and causing an F1 fault (internal flood).
We will be throwing out this piece of junk because of its poor warranty, costly + incompetent service technician, all due to its unreliability. Off to Sears we go.
Great idea, wife fell in love with it when buying for the new house. Seemed to be a bit fussy at times, sometimes unit didn't close right or didn't cycle correctly. But the convenience seemed to make it worth while. Unit was in generally "good" service for 4 years when I came home one day to find the kitchen filled with smoke and something burning. Front panel was HOT to the touch and smoke was coming out from the front panel. The controller board caught fire and melted all the adjoining plastic AND THE UNIT WAS NOT EVEN ON AT THE TIME. The designated qualified service technician called it a total loss and unrepairable. Even he said he would never buy one of these - poor reliability, short life span and high cost to repair. This was a catastrophic failure due to poor engineering or design that should not have happened under any circumstances.
Can't handle the long run, poor support by mrdull ,Aug 08 '09
Pros: Convenient loading and operation, easy installation, quiet, attractive. Cons: Very poor support, four/five service calls several months, not repaired, Not cleaning dishes.
I have a dishdrawer (double) did well for about a year, then failed badly dishdrawer & support. Touch panel quit working, they replaced module, failed again, replaced again, failed third time, lower drawer this time too, replaced the system board, now the lower drawer doesn't drain completely, and the touch module works PART TIME. Customer support has always been kind, but the unit is failing. They are just trying to keep it together until the warranty runs out. Don't pay five times as much as the conventional for the novelty of a drawer. I'm afraid of the washer and dryer now, I can't in good consience reccomend this to anyone. I really like the look, the ease of operation and the ease of installation, but I have two friends who have one also and they are starting to have little problems as well. I thought Fisher Paykel would step up and make this thing right but I really have my doubts. Loads of lip service but no real help.
Floods and repairs, I give up. by bearleton ,Oct 27 '07
Pros: Neat styling, pretty quiet, when it worked right Cons: Repairs, floods, poor Lifter technology
Yesterday I ordered a new high end dishwasher. I'm giving up on my very unreliable Fisker & Paykel Dishdrawer. I've had so many floods, I've actually gotten good at troubleshooting the machine, but I've had enough. I certainly didn't get my $1,500s worth, in fact, I'll remember this as the worst high ticket purchase I've ever made. I've lost faith in the whole Dishdrawer technology, where it water seals by lifting and squeezing the drawer tight. I'm going back to the front closing drawer, eventhough the 2 separate units came in handy sometimes.
Pros: Easy to use both ergonomically and function wise. Looks great too. Cons: None at all.
Have had our dish draw for about 4 years now and have had no problems with it at all. Originally bought the one draw model to substitute the standard dishwasher and have not used the other since. Have a family of 5, with 3 late teens, and it's plenty big enough for our uses - which was one of our original concerns. My elderly mother (now 85) once put dishwashing liquid for the sink in by mistake causing suds to come out the side and stop the machine no damage resulted, and have had no problems at all. A great buy would do it again in a heart beat.
Pros: Its nice to be able to do 2 small loads Cons: hard to fit stuff in , noisy, breaks down,
We bought this pieceocrap 3 years ago and its been a pain after the first 6 months, poor design, mechanically not very good, would recommend against buying one
How anyone would NOT like this unit is beyond me. by obiwankenobe ,Oct 08 '06
Pros: Extremely quiet, washes dishes sparkling clean (using Cascade w/Jet Dry). Cons: Once in a great while, the dishes aren't completely dry. No biggie, IMO.
We built an addition and new kitchen onto our home starting about 5 years ago, installing the F/P Dish Drawer unit over three years ago. It was a long time coming, so in typically analytical style, I checked out many different makes and models; we would live with whatever we bought for next 20 years, so we were looking for the best!
This unit is the one; if you are looking for clean dishes, QUIETLY washed, and minimal, if any, maintenance, look no further. (In three years, we have never had a maintenance issue). We seldom use the second drawer so I would recommend two single drawer units over the one double drawer (to save the need to bend over further). This would get a little spendy, however, so for us, the double capacity unit was a better value.
How anyone could not like this unit is beyond me. It doesn't get any better than this, IMO -- and I'm a Realtor and see loads of absolutely gorgeous kitchens. I just wish these F/P were built in the good old US of A!
Pros: Cleans well, convenient to use, very quiet Cons: Expense of repairs makes them not even close to worth the overall cost
I've had 2 dish drawers for a little while. One started leaking water. The repair technician came in and said that 2 motors and a circuit board needed to be replaced. $350. Now that he's installed those, it still doesn't work, it needs another main circuit board now. Another $135. He looks at the other dish drawer and sees the top seal isn't closing well. He says I should change the motors in that one as well. Another $300 (until he actually repairs it and possibly finds something else. At close to $800 in repairs, I could have bought a couple of new really nice dishwashers. This is ridiculous and if I had know the expense of the repairs, I would have told the guy to just rip them out. It's a shame, because when they work, they're great.
Pros: Looks good/nice concept Cons: doesn't work--piece of junk
we've had this for many years. The first 6 months it was wonderful, did a good job. then after that it needed numerous repairs--several a year. About 2 years ago, we decided to stop fixing it at least twice a year (it's difficult to find someone to fix and it gets expensive) and kind of let it run it's course. It's at a point where it takes about a hour for a 30 min. cycle, it doesn't really clean, etc. I really want to dump this thing, but w/ the way the economy is, I will have to wait until I get some extra $. Don't by it.... A lot of people who fix appliances say it's a nightmare
