Pros: Has wheels, easy to use, has a thermostat and overheat protection Cons: High electric bill, only warms the air surrounding it
What Is A Pelonis Radiant Space Heater?
It is a radiator which has 7 oil-filled "fin" heating elements. This product offers a safe heating alternative as well as silent operation. There are two control dials, a thermostat control and a heat...
Pros: Heats my 15x20x8 sqft room with ease on all settings. Cons: Plastic cover ontop breaks easily.
Ah, my Pelonis Oil Heater. For years, in my 2,400 square foot room, I've been subject to freezing cold and steaming heat alternately, come Winter or Summer. The addition of this Oil Heater, though, finally solved my problems.
Pros: Inexpensive. Good, steady heat. Cheaper to run over long periods of time. Cons: Slow to heat up. Barely enough heat for a large room. Better for midsize rooms.
While winters are usually pretty mild in the Deep South, it still gets pretty cold occasionally. And since our little dog has to stay in a half-finished room in our basement while we're gone during the day we needed something SAFE to keep the room warm...
Pros: warms up fast, power cord stays cool Cons: clicks when the heater automatically turns on and off
I needed to warm up my room and I had a Delonghi oil heater before and really like it because it was quiet and heated up fast. I looked at some of the other review for Delonghi. Lakewood and Honeywell, but ended up buying the Pelonis because it was only...
Pros: Heats one room comfortably. Cons: Leaks oil, makes clicking sound on and off through out the night.
This unit is only 3 months old and already it is broken. It leaks a brown substance..I assume its oil..out of the base every couple of days. Causing a small stain on the carpet. Poor quality. This unit has sat undisturbed in the same spot for months...
this heater is the worst ever (and dangerous)! by waturbaybee ,Feb 03 '05
Pros: none, unless you like to pay for carpet cleaning, throwing away clothes... Cons: ruined quilts, made my cats sick, ruined possessions
I had it for a few years (bought for me at Sam's wholesale) and it only keeps the chill off a room. That is it.
I know the warranty is one year limited but it did something catastrophic yesterday.
It cracked and sprayed my bedroom with the oil.
It ruined carpet, bed, clothes, everything.
It is supposed to have a regulator if it gets too hot.
That failed and now I have lots of ruined possessions.
Pros: Cheap Cons: The quality explains why it's cheap and it's not worth the saving.
I have the oil heater for one years and a half and it started smoking with bad smell and sound so I can't use it anymore.
It is not covered under warranty anymore and it cost more to fix it at this point. Badly manufactured, horrible customer service. Left 2 messages and numerous emails and never heard back from them. Do not recommend to buy this product at all.
Even during the period of working, it wouldn't work sometimes for mysterious reasons.
then when it started working again it worked for 3 weeks straight after which it started to smell like burning wires inside..
Had to turn it off and when I opened it and look inside the wires had turned black and isolation was cracking off them.
burning wires inside and quit working (2) heaters same. by barleemar ,Nov 25 '09
Pros: The heat well when they work. Cons: Fire hazard and unsafe to leave on unattended.
I bought two of these heaters last year. Both of them burned up the temperature limiter inside. One even caused smoke and I was afraid of a fire. Contacted Pelonis customer service and they insisted on a receipt showing the unit was still in one year warranty. Otherwise each heater would cost $10.00 for the repaior parts. (Who keeps these kind of receipts for inexpensive units? Not me.) Finally they promised to send a repair part for each of them at no cost. I have not received them yet. If you have one of these I strongly advise not to leave it unattended!
Since I am not the only one experiencing this burning of the temp limiter, I believe these heaters should be subject to a recall by the government. I believe them to be a fire hazard.
