Moving with ABF U-Pack Moving
by ranchlandnm ,Jan 17 '06
Pros: courteous, responsible, prompt, reasonably priced, convenient ramp for loading and unloading
Cons: packing, loading and unloading
ABF U-Pack Moving was recommended to us by a friend who had successfully used it before. She helped us get a quote over the internet for the move.

The woman I talked to at the toll-free number when I called to make the reservation was very courteous, friendly and helpful. She told me how to make the reservation over the internet and informed me of the special discount that was in place at the time.

The truck was delivered on time and the driver had to make it down a steep, winding driveway, which he did with no problem.

The trailer was picked up on schedule and arrived at our new house earlier than estimated.

Everyone associated with the experience was friendly and easy to work with. If we ever have to move again, we will certainly use ABF and we recommend it to anyone.

Great experience! Definitely recommend
by jennydub ,Jul 06 '06
Pros: Friendly customer service and drivers, cost, tracking
Cons: Not being called when driver was on the way.
I recently relocated from California to Florida. After comparing the cost of renting a truck (and the gas, and the hotels, and driving 2500 miles) to the cost of a door to door container, there was no contest. My container was dropped off for loading in the window specified. Dispatch called me the next day to see how loading was going and to verify that the container could be picked up. I was able to track where my container was using the website. Dispatch at my new location called to arrange the drop off date and time. That went smoothly as well. The only complaint would be I was asked at both locations if I would like to be called before the driver showed up and I indicated yes. Neither driver called.

ABF relocubes great and convenient, I loved it
by benedikta ,Apr 29 '07
Pros: Two days for loading and unloading, cheap, no need to drive a truck
Cons: Have to be time flexible
We were moving from KY to CO with four children and two cars. The relocubes were great. We had officially two days but in reality three days to load and four days to unload. Weekends don't count so if you need more time, have them deliver it on Friday. The cubes were clean. I packed very carefully and didn't have a single thing broken.
One has to be flexible with time - when they bring it for you to load and unload. Keep the necessary things with you when you move.
We had to buy two locks for each cube and also a dolly but the great thing is that the cubes are on the level of the ground. They also fit in a parking lot so it was easy in an apartment complex.
The customer service was very nice and helpful.

Price, convenience, and great customer service
by dreamer73 ,Sep 05 '07
Pros: convenient, relaxed cross country move, cheaper than U-Haul, great customer service, faster delivery than others
Cons: the price seems high until you compare to others, then it's more reasonable
I had a fabulous experience with ABF U-Pack. At first the price seems high until you consider the actual gas mileage and gas costs of moving using U-Haul. Note this means you take a little bit less for the same price with U-Haul. Talk to the ABF people to get exactly the best setup and price that works for you. The freedom of not having to drive a U-Haul cross country was worth it's weight in gold. All the customer service I received, even at the warehouse, was friendly and accomodating. When I thought I wanted to go with another company, I found out the other company couldn't get the storage unit to me as soon as I needed it. ABF delivered in a few days earlier and made everything work out. I can usually find something that needs improvement from a company, but in this case I had absolutely nothing but a wonderful experience.

ABF U Pack was late and rude.
by sam_a101 ,Aug 14 '09
Pros: None
Cons: Overpriced.  They lied.  Where late on delivery.  Rude employees.
The people at ABF where unable to meet the delivery date they promised even though they charged us extra to set a window for pickup and delivery.  Then they didnt even bother to call us to say that they would not be dropping off the trailer as scheduled.  When we called them after waiting 4 hours they where rude and refused to set a new time for dropping off our belongings, or give a refund.  I would not recommend using this service to anyone.  Door-To-Door is only slightly more money and their service is undeniably better.

ABF U-Pack was a pleasant experience !!
by dorglet ,Dec 14 '04
Pros: Saved us many dollars over using an U-haul truck or moving company.
Cons: You have to find your own help to unload
A new update on our second experience with this company. The trailer was new and clean. We watched their video and packed everything well and every piece of my antique glassware arrived in perfect condition. The ramp that they include with the trailer is very sturdy and in new condition. We read about the insurance and were aware that there wasn't a lot of insurance coverage but felt that we could pack well enough to compensate for that. I THINK THE BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT WE DID WAS TO INVEST IN MOVING STRAPS !! These went from side to side of the trailer and enable us to secure our load every few feet and nothing was able to move, even if the bulkhead had failed. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO PREVENT SHIFTING OR MOVEMENT.
MOVE ONE:
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Truck was going to be an hour late and they called to let me know. Trailer was clean & in good condition. We moved from NY to Florida and nothing got broke or damaged. Everything was just as promised and their instructional CD made it so easy to operate the bulkhead etc.

Easy and inexpensive alternate to U-Haul moving
by mvedovato ,Dec 21 '07
Pros: Inexpensive, convenient
Cons: You pack and unpack yourself. Needs to be packed well.
I have moved many times before but till now never used U-Pack. I used a U-Pack trailer to pack from San Diego, CA to Oxford, AL. And I must say that this was the easiest move I have ever done. The shipment went just as scheduled and the customer service was excellent. I compared quite a few moving options before deciding on U-pack. I found that you were very economical, price competitive, efficient and convenient with excellent customer service.

The receiving terminal in Birmingham, particularly Curtis Harper and the rest there, were especially courteous and helpful in making sure my transfer went as easily as possible. He was very accommodating and made arrangements to drop off then pick up the trailer at times that fit my tight schedule. I cannot emphasis enough the great service I got from ABF and they will handle all my moves from now on. As well as the moves of all my friends and family who will need to you in the future because I will always recommend U-pack to everybody from here on forward.

A Hassle Free Move
by lbtr ,Jun 10 '08
Pros: Hassle-Free moving, professional and accommodating drivers, worked with our time-frame.
Cons: Bulkhead doors were difficult to use. However, I understand new ones are on order.
We moved from Arizona to Indiana with a large dog. The thought of driving a U-Haul and our car across country was not something we wanted to do. We found U-Pack Moving and it was a wonderful experience. The drivers were very nice and professional. They cared about our move and it showed in everything they did. They were on-time with dropping off and picking up the trailer and couldn't have been more accommodating to our time-frame.

We were able to take our time driving 1760 miles with our dog. It was hassle-free and a pleasant experience. We would definitely use this service again.

The best part of a long-distance move
by goingcoastal ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: LOW cost; punctual, great communication, easy to work with; NOT DRIVING THE TRUCK!
Cons: Estimated delivery on other end was days off (early);Ramp availability questionable
ABF was the easiest part of my move from Minnesota back home to Oregon. The cost was just a little over U-HAUL and roughly the same as my Penske quote, and I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE! Customer service and drivers were a pleasure to work with and reliable, although the contract driver (not ABF) who brought the trailer from the ABF port to my final destination called at 4:30 a.m. to tell me he was on his way with my load.

Getting a ramp was sketchy on both ends and loading the truck would be impossible without one.

Overall, I would recommend ABF to anyone willing to do the packing, loading, and unloading themselves. The cost is fair and the company is reliable.

HOUSTON, TX to BROOKLYN, NY
by elaineb6538 ,Jun 21 '06
Pros: VERY REASONABLY PRICED, EASY TO USE WEB-SITE, COURTEOUS,PROMPT,VERY PROFESSIONAL ALL AROUND
Cons: NONE
I just wanted to compliment ABF U-Pack for the wonderful moving experience we just had with your company. First of all the move cost exactly half of what other movers had quoted me and also cost less than half of the famous U-Haul Pods. I found you on moving.com and from the first contact on we had nothing but courteous and professional help with getting my son's belongings from Houston, TX to Brooklyn, NY. We opted for the pack it ourselves and then delivering it to the Houston Terminal. The entire process was painless and everyone on both ends of the move were courteous and wonderfully nice. The on-line tracking system worked like a charm and everything arrived safe and sound in the time promised. We were thoroughly impressed at the ease and efficiency of the system and would like to commend the company. Too often people are quick to criticize, but never take the time to compliment. I wanted you to know just how pleased we were and would not hesitate to use you again should the need arise. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks again!!

Outstanding
by brasspig ,Jun 19 '08
Pros: Friendly, Professional, Reliable, Dependable, Affordable, Convenient, Cater to needs of the customer
Cons: We had some broken items - totally our fault for not packing well.
ABF U-Pack was wonderful. First of all, the drivers and everyone I talked to on the phone were very friendly and eager to help. The move was smooth, relatively cheap compared to other methods. Upon delivery of our items, the driver was so kind as to help us unload. I wouldn't say you should expect this of your driver, but this was a HUGE plus. He was so great to help, so professional, and so fun to work with. Yes, I did say 'fun.'

U-Pack was indeed a pleasure!

I HIGHLY recommend them!

Baton Rouge, La to Olympia, WA
by br2wa ,Jul 03 '06
Pros: Scale 1-10 I would give a 15!!! Saved money!
Cons: None.Do as they say and you'll have a perfect moving experience!
Professional in every aspect. On time. Friendly and helpful employees. There for us anytime we had a question. Their free DVD on moving tips is the funniest and most well put together we've seen!! A must for beginner movers.
We used 12 feet of space. Did as they said. Pack tight and up,up,up! We saved over $3000. by using ABF! Amazing!! We recommend them to everyone we speak to. Just in case they are moving or know someone that is. All of our belongings were in great condition upon arrival. I would recommend using more tarps though. Cover the top of your stuff from the front all the way back. We had a little carbon on our boxes that were up front in the trailer.

Inexpensive, courteous & helpful
by mpadmaja16 ,Jun 09 '08
Pros: Punctual.Good Service.Good email advice before the move. Courteous Crew/Drivers.
Cons: So far so good.. no problems yet.
I am one of the poor souls that could not find a sponsor for my move from Chicago to California. So i decided to do it under my own steam. I did some research online, and u-pack seemed to be the cheapest and best option available for the money i was willing to spend. One advice is to have the truck delivered on Thursday or Friday, so you can have till Monday to Load/Un-Load items. It definitely helped me. The truck was delivered on time according to the schedule.
I invited about a dozen of my friends over to help me pack and load it on the truck. The truck has been picked up on time according to the schedule as well.
I will keep you posted on the rest of the move.

ABF Upack is AWESOME!
by dansie ,Aug 30 '08
Pros: Great service, fast shipment, great price. Highly recommended.
Cons: None
I can't even begin to say how awesome the whole entire process of working with ABF Upack. I reserved two relocation cubes for July, but had to change our moving date to August. I called and was able to get the same quote for August. The customer service reps that I spoke to both times were extremely nice and helpful! I never had to wait more than 5 mins to speak to anyone. The people at each terminal were also great. The reloc. cubed arrived before the estimated date and was I able to scheduled a deliver time so that I could hire people from emove.com to help me unload.

I moved fron Northern CA to Southern Arizona. Cost $1200 for one cube. Compared to similar moveable storage containers, ABF was almost half the cost! Also when you factor in the cost of gas ($4.00 a gallon) and the size of the truck, I found the cost to be substantially lower than renting a truck and moving myself.

I give them my highest my recommendation.
