ABF Upack is AWESOME!
by dansie ,Aug 30 '08
Pros: Great service, fast shipment, great price. Highly recommended. Cons: None
I can't even begin to say how awesome the whole entire process of working with ABF Upack. I reserved two relocation cubes for July, but had to change our moving date to August. I called and was able to get the same quote for August. The customer service reps that I spoke to both times were extremely nice and helpful! I never had to wait more than 5 mins to speak to anyone. The people at each terminal were also great. The reloc. cubed arrived before the estimated date and was I able to scheduled a deliver time so that I could hire people from emove.com to help me unload.
I moved fron Northern CA to Southern Arizona. Cost $1200 for one cube. Compared to similar moveable storage containers, ABF was almost half the cost! Also when you factor in the cost of gas ($4.00 a gallon) and the size of the truck, I found the cost to be substantially lower than renting a truck and moving myself. I give them my highest my recommendation.

The best part of a long-distance move
by goingcoastal ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: LOW cost; punctual, great communication, easy to work with; NOT DRIVING THE TRUCK! Cons: Estimated delivery on other end was days off (early);Ramp availability questionable
ABF was the easiest part of my move from Minnesota back home to Oregon. The cost was just a little over U-HAUL and roughly the same as my Penske quote, and I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE! Customer service and drivers were a pleasure to work with and reliable, although the contract driver (not ABF) who brought the trailer from the ABF port to my final destination called at 4:30 a.m. to tell me he was on his way with my load.
Getting a ramp was sketchy on both ends and loading the truck would be impossible without one.
Overall, I would recommend ABF to anyone willing to do the packing, loading, and unloading themselves. The cost is fair and the company is reliable.

Smooth Move This Time
by ellenlapenna ,Sep 03 '08
Pros: Inexpensive Efficient Cons: Shipment could end up kind of dirty Insurance plan not suitable for valuables
I recently used U-Pack to move from San Francisco to Albuquerque. I had a two-bedroom house comprised of mainly furniture. I hired some local guys to wrap everything very carefully and the whole U-Pack move was under $700 -- a great deal! I had used U-Pack to move across the country once before (Asheville, NC to ABQ) and the barrier broke that holds things in place. It looked like a storm hit the inside of the truck, so I'd recommend having a rep. double check that barrier. Also things got pretty dirty on that trip, which is why I had the movers who loaded the CA truck wrap everything that I didn't want covered with black marks. Everything looked pretty clean this round and the move in general went really smoothly. One more tip: when you are ready to pick up your things from the trucking center, if you don't have the truck delivered to your location, call first so they can get the truck ready for unloading. I had to wait a bit with my hired guys in ABQ and they were on the clock. Would definitely use them again.

Awesome Move Experience
by dottieann ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: Ease of use, professional service, convenience, low price Cons: No same day drop off and pick up
I just wanted to tell everyone about my move with ABF.
I have moved 7 times in the last 8 years with 4 of
those moves being over 1000 miles. After trying
almost every type of move out there, I was frustrated
with the service and hassles all of them presented. I
decided to try the Relo-cube with ABF and I couldn't
have been more pleased!! It was really convenient and
easy and the service was unbelievable. My local
service center in San Jose, California went out of
their way to help me with some special needs I had and
the destination terminal in Maryland was just as
nice!! The drivers were friendly and knowledgeable
and the price couldn't be beat!! I will always use
ABF from now on and so will my family and friends!!
Take it from someone who knows, ABF relo-cubes are
definitely the way to go!! Just a note, make sure you have two heavy duty padlocks for each relo-cube to be extra safe.

Fabulous company to deal with
by mdla ,Aug 24 '05
Pros: Polite and helpful drivers, prompt service, ramp and bulkhead included. Cons: Bulkhead did not go up properly - and company fixed this for us.
We moved over 400 miles. The first company I contracted with sent me two wrong contracts, had NO clue what they were doing, and I canceled (Help-U-Move). I then found ABF. Their initial price was higher - but it included the ramp and bulkhead (items that the other company did NOT provide), so it actually ended up costing LESS than the other companies. My trailer was a couple of hours early, my loading ran longer than expected, I could not get the bulkhead up. Every phone call to the company was a positive experience with helpful employees - the only positive part of the move WAS this company and their employees. If I have ever to move long distance again, my first call will be to ABF!

Our good experience with ABF, but it could have been better!
by contented ,Nov 12 '03
Pros: Excellent having loading and pickup on schedule The delivery was perfect with everything as promised Cons: Old trailer used with water leaks roof-floor. Firewall weak didn't hold load in place
After almost being taken in by a couple other companies (we found out later that they were dishonest) we then found ABF. It was a relief to know that we could pack the truck putting the heavy boxes on the bottom and lighter things on top. It came out to be much better than U-haul type of rentals and a lot less responsibility and expense.

ABF U-PACK is a great choice!
by amirthful1 ,Nov 01 '07
Pros: Reliable, economical, great customer service. Cons: nothing negative to say....can't think of one thing.
No matter how you cut it, moving is AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! But if move you must, ABF U-Pack makes the job worry free. We investigated all the u-drive-its and all the we-pack-we-drive-its and the mobile storage room options and this is by far the best way to go.
We recently moved from Tucson, Az. to Richmond, Ky. and were pleasantly surprised that ABF U-Pack lived up to all their promises.
We hired a moving company to load it and ended up using every inch of that 28' trailer and the cost was just a bit over $3000. (Not including the two strong men who loaded it.) Cheap compared to some of the estimates by other movers. Would've cost $5000. for the mobile storage units. Plus you never know when your stuff will get there!
ABF U-pack had our trailer in our new driveway in just 5 days! They were patient will my myriad questions and always offered more info than asked.
If (God forbid!) I ever have to move again, I will: #1. Smack my husband #2. then call ABF U-Pack.

UPACK is the way to go!!!
by deyjavous ,Feb 02 '08
Pros: PRICE-CONVENIENCE-RELIABLITY-PEACE OF MIND-GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE- FLEXIBILITY-THEY DO THE DRIVING- Cons: well, you do have to pack it yourself!!!
I recently moved from Trenton, MI to Trenton MO. After checking out other companies, I decided to go with ABF
U-Pack for price, and convenience, both of which fit my needs perfectly.
The customer service I received was above anything I had ever experienced in any business encounter.
Everyone was personable and helpful.I received advice from many different aspects of my mood, which made it much easier.
My items were delivered to my destination on time, and the company was flexible at the origin and destination sights as well/ the contract was easy to read and comprehend.
When my items arrived, everything was intact, right down to my solid glass curio cabinets.
I especially want to thank Carla, at my destination terminal, in St. Joseph, MO...she was extremely helpful in my transition, and delivered exceptional customer service and care. Moving 800 miles from home is tough enough, and U-Pack employees made it much easier.

ABF U-Pack was GREAT
by carolannejulie ,Aug 07 '09
Pros: Low cost, delivery on time. Atlanta (Conley) ABF staff were helpful, friendly. Good security. Cons: We would have preferred a Cube/Pod rather than sharing a trailer. Reserve early.
We did a terminal to terminal move of goods from the south to the north--studio-sized apartment. The low cost was perfect. Our expectations were not high, as we knew it would be hard labor on our part, and our responsibility for packing breakables. The dollar savings was so worth it. We chose ABF because we had 2 dogs and a car to transport, and wanted to ride together, rather than driving separately in a car and U-Haul or other truck. All of the other rental trucks will not accommodate big dogs...only 2 people. We used a partial trailer (PODS/Cubes were all gone), and backed up a small rental truck to the trailer. Easy to load and unload without the use of ramps.

U-Pack Rocks
by loebotomy ,Jun 14 '05
Pros: Great people/service, pay-as-you-go (space), they drive. Cons: NONE, but I wish they could tow my car as well so I could fly.
My wife and I just moved from San Francisco to Tacoma and we used U-Pack. They ROCK! Not only was everything exactly as advertised, but all of the ABF representatives that I spoke with from sales to dispatch to drivers were all very friendly and very helpful. Our stuff arrived in 3-1/2 days in good shape. The trailer, bulkhead, and ramp were all in good shape. Perhaps the BIGGEST ADVANTAGE is the flexibility in space that one uses. If we had rented a truck, the truck would have been too small. Instead, we paid for what we used, no more, no less. We will definitely recommend U-Pack. Price is comparable to rental trucks, even if you figure in gas, but trucks only come in 15' or 24', not 16, 17, 18...23', so unless you fill up the truck exactly, you're paying for unused space.

I wanna be the poster girl
by redpress ,Mar 02 '06
Pros: Super cheap prompt courteous service and wide availability Cons: Only trip of 500 miles+ costs extra for ramp
I just wanted to say to everyone how wonderful it was using ABF..(in the middle of a RAGING Hurricane season I might add). My Fiance and I moved from Western NY to WPB Florida in August of 2004 and ABF still picked up and delivered our trailer in the exact time promises with no delay or damage. Mind you our trailer was in transit driving through Florida in the midst of Hurricane Charlie!! With this great experience we had, when my little sister moved from Buffalo NY to Atlanta GA this past Thanksgiving they called on ABF and had the same great service. From the you Customer service reps to your delivery drivers I tell everyone ABF IS THE BEST!! Best service best price best experience I ever had will something so stressful as moving 1800 miles in the middle of a hurricane.

The only way to move
by notw2005 ,Aug 10 '05
Pros: On time pickup and drop off.Good website size calculator. Cons: Some of their trailers are a bit old.
This company offers a professional, cost effective way to ship your belongings from one state to the next. Their website is great for estimating how much space you need and the staff is attentive and good with follow up. You can call and check status on your delivery and they call you with ample time to prepare to receive your goods.
All you need to do is pack with common sense. Heavy stuff on the bottom, light on top. Tie down your stuff every few feet.Cover stuff with blankets and tarps. I moved my stuff 2000 miles and it came out better than when I had pros do move me across the city.

Moved from New England to Western WA
by kathy_wa ,Oct 05 '05
Pros: Inexpensive and didn't have to drive cross-country. Cons: Be prepared to do heavy lifting. Pack items tightly so there is no shifting.
Had a very good experience with U-Pack Moving Services. The people involved, including the sales personnel and drivers, are very professional. I enjoyed tracking my furniture each day as it came closer to Western WA. There is no comparison to other rental services in price.

Very pleased
by ddclaxto ,Mar 17 '06
Pros: on-time
economical
friendly Cons: don't find out delivery time until after your things are taken.
trailer is very large
So, I had read some opinions about experiences using ABF Upack, but I must say, my experience was very good. They dropped off the trailer when they said they would. They charged me for exactly the amount of space that I used. My things arrived, un-harmed, when they said they would. They even came back on the same day and picked up the trailer so that it wouldn't sit in the driveway overnight. Initially I was a little uneasy, but, I would definitely use ABF Upack again!

No delivery time estimate, unhelpful dispatch unit in Brooklyn, NY
by e7a7b7 ,Oct 22 '07
Pros: nice website, good prices Cons: poor time estimates, inconsistent and uncaring local service (Brooklyn)
This experience could be limited to Brooklyn or the NY area, but we reserved with u-Pack about 4 weeks in advance of our planned move, and also called the local cube dispatch to see what time to expect the cubes. We were told they would arrive at 11AM and stay for 4 hours (NYC doesn't allow stuff to stay on the street). We consequently reserved loading help for those times. A week prior to move, we called the uPack dispatch to confirm again, and a different person said "we don't work that way" and said the cube "should" arrive between 1:30 and 3:30. When told of our situation having already spoken to somebody about this and reserved loading help, the person didn't care and offered no suggestions. When asked if we could get his new time estimate in writing, so we could be sure of it when re-reserving loading help, he refused. THANKS ALOT, PAL! How am I supposed to load my crates in 4 hours, if I have no idea when they will be arriving?
