Pros: Cooks food; doesn't burst into flames Cons: Instructions are wrong; heat timer is unreliable
This isn't a good rice cooker.
First, a disclaimer: Salton has some fine products. I see that some of their other rice cookers got good reviews, and I love my little George Foreman grill. But if this rice cooker was all I knew of Salton, I'd...

I'll second that
by jcasa ,Apr 17 '06
Pros: Hard to think of any... It will make about 75 to 80 percent good rice. Cons: Burns rice on bottom, Makes a mess of your counter top....
We have been struggling with the Salton RA7A for the past year or so and completely agree with everything the previous reviewer wrote... Burns rice consistently... bubbles and makes a mess.... ect. I cannot believe they still sell this thing. We are out shopping for a new one... anyone want the one we have?

Salton RA7A Continues to be Disappointing
by hodgesdk1 ,Oct 18 '08
Pros: Cooks rice pretty well. Cons: See review
A review was written in '02 and in '06; now I'll add one for '08. I bought this rice cooker at Macys about a year ago. It just stopped working tonight. I have to agree with everthing the other reviewers wrote - I do not recommend this rice cooker. It does burn the rice, however, it is pretty easy to clean. As it cooks, water sputters out from under the lid, consistently making a mess that's 1 to 1.5 feet in diameter. I'll be rice cooker shopping again soon and will completely avoid Salton products.
