What's the story, Wishbone?

by Denalisky , Nov 22 '00
Pros: Educational, entertaining, enjoyable story lines
Cons: May not be easy for very young kids to follow
Forgive me Epinions, for I have sinned. It's been many months since my last Epinion. Oh, and thanks to those that have stuck on my WOT (that sounds vaguely obscene)in spite of my recent lack of enthusiasm for this wonderful site. I'm hoping to jump back...

I want my Once Upon a Classic

by jenscookie , Jan 28 '01
Pros: entertaining, educational for younger viewers
Cons: dumbed down stories, sight gags
Once upon a time, there was a show called Once Upon a Classic. Hosted by Bill Bixby, who unfortunately didn't turn into the Incredible Hulk even once on the show, Once Upon a Classic dramatized great stories like Robin Hood, King Arthur and even Sir...

Best Thing Since Reading Rainbow

by bilbopooh Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 08 '00
Pros: Wishbone is adorable, exposes kids to great works of literature
Cons: limited time necessitates very simple adaptations
Finally! I've been wanting to review this show for a long time, and finally it's available. I fell in love with Wishbone back in high school, so much that I even received a plush Wishbone for Christmas one year. The walking library with a bottomless...

Wishbone - Education Through a Peppy Dog's Eyes!

by Anniemal , Jan 28 '01
Pros: Educational, Interesting, Clever
Cons: None
Surfing through the channels one day after school, I stumbled upon a little dog dressed like Cyrano from the play, Cyrano de Bergerac. I found it very interesting that this was a kids' show! I was immediately tuned into this show and the play...

This is a Children's Show? But I like it!

by naphtalia Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Nov 13 '00
Pros: wonderful show, great literature
Cons: they still say it's for kids
Wishbone is a dog with a wonderful point of view. He lives with a caring family in a small town. He also knows more about the classics of literature than most university professors I have had.

The show runs two parallel stories, the first in...

by lucie30 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Apr 17 '01
Pros: Enhance reading/writing skills for kids 7 and older. Follow on to the TV show.
Cons: May eat into physical activity time.
Eight million viewers can’t be wrong! Wishbone is not only the top dog in children’s TV but he is fast becoming top dog in the kid’s computer game arena. Quality will out and it is apparent throughout this release from Palladium Interactive. Wishbone...

what's the story wishbone

by tommy_lop Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 28 '01
Pros: helps kids get into classic novels and plays
Cons: they have to shred the storys in order to get them in
Reading Rainbow was one of my favorite shows has a kid. It stared Levar Burton of star trek fame. He took kids to carnivals, bee farms, and even on the set of star trek itself. Every episode Levar presented around 4 books in which he or other viewers...

One Cute Pup

by Dani257 , Jun 25 '04
Pros: Educational, interesting, fun, cute pup
Cons: Does this come on anymore, even in repeats?
I think my dogs are jealous of Wishbone. Who is Wishbone? He's the canine star of a cute, fun, and educational show on PBS. Wishbone is the dog of Joe, a pre-teen. Joe, along with his friends David and Sam have everyday kid adventures. They range ...

Wishbone Makes the Grade

by tutor1235 , Dec 04 '00
Pros: entertaining, educational, easy to watch
Cons: None!
When I sneak peaks into the living room, nothing makes me happier than hearing Wishbone's delightful voice. With many less desirable choices available, it is gratifying to see my 8 and 11 year old girls gravitating to this show. The star of the show is...

So excited it's back

by leidih , Feb 27 '08
Pros: Kids learn morals and about classic literature while not even realizing it.
Cons: I wish it was on later in the afternoon, closer to real work schedules.
I used to watch this everyday after school and I am so happy to see that it is back on again. It has been about 15 years since my sisters and I used to watch it, but we still recall episodes. It helped me out a few times when I was actually able to ...

Wishbone!
by kaymin ,Apr 13 '05
Pros: Cute dog, entertaining, fun to watch and educational. Teaches life lessons.
Cons: The endings to novels are revealed. No longer aired on PBS:(
Great series. This showed aired around my jhs and high school years and I watched it every day after school.
Good times! In fact, if it were still on now even with repeats, i'd tune in whenever i'd have the chance. I just recently bought Dog Days of the West, as well.

This is a great and educational show. Kids and adults will love it all the same. My one gripe is that they spoil the ending to the novels in the 30 mins that they're on, but i guess that's a necessary evil. But it would be awkward to leave out the ending, so it's a double edged sword. It does however familiarize kids and those who watch it to classic novels so that they're easily recognized.

The epitome of what should be showed to kids on PBS!
