Pros: Great show before they changed it! Cons: They moved, lost 2 kids, and it wasn't the same.
This original Disney show first aired in 1991 and began it's run in syndication in 1993. The Torkelsons was pure Disney with emphasis on family values and kids just being nice. It was light and had fun plots without much emphasis on heavy...

Pros: Issues and themes are portrayed with respect. Cons: Too many repeats of the same episodes. The show is no longer being produced and they tend to run the same episodes over and over again.
If you want to enjoy some quality family television, break out the popcorn, snuggle up with your kids, and watch The Torkelsons.
Not everyone feels the same way about this show (my husband absolutely HATES it!), but everyone's entitled to...

Pros: Kid Tested, Mother Approved Cons: Only on Cable, Not on Network TV
99 channels and nothing worth watching, I don't know how often I have heard this comment regarding cable television. Well at long last, there is something worth watching: The Torkelsons.
The basic plot behind this show is a blue-collar hard...

Pros: Good setting, real life problems. Cons: Most problems can't be solved in half an hour.
I have watched this show since I lived in my parents house. When my friends come over sometimes we all just sit down and admire the way Dorothy Jane can be so naive and romantic at heart. I always felt like Dorothy Jane, not a whole lot of confidence...

Pros: Wonderful, moral show! Cons: None
"The Torkelsons" is a show that has something for everyone. It's about how horrible and wonderful it is to be fourteen years old. It's about a wonderful, loving single mom who tries to teach her children the right way to live. It's about a...

Pros: wonderful, warm family show Cons: cancelled too soon! Not enough episodes
From the very first time I watched The Torklesons' on NBC, I was hooked! I just love The Judds' and the theme song got me to watch, but the cute kids and warm, loving, caring mother hooked me.
My favorite character is Mary Sue (the youngest...

Pros: good acting by Connie Ray and Olivia Burnette Cons: didn't last long
When "The Torklesons" was on NBC- I made a point of watching the show because I loved it! Alas, the Powers That Be kept on moving it to one cruddy time slot to another-then finally pulled the plug.
But I do get to see the reruns on Disney...

Pros: Wholesome, fun, touches on issues relevant to society today. Cons: None
I am so glad to see Disney keeping up the good work by playing shows good for whole family viewing.

Pros: Good Childrens program Cons: Not for adults
As I turned on the television and stumbled across this show i could believe it. This show was for the most part clean and simple. I was not drawn into the plot, or captured by the beauty of the stars. But I realized that this was a show that was suitable...

Pros: Dorothy Jane Cons: Too Short
The primary reason to watch the Torkelsons, I think, is the actress who plays the oldest Torkelson, Dorothy Jane (Olivia Burnett). Dorothy Jane is a precocious teenager who helps her mother raise her two younger siblings in a lower income environment....

Pros: A very heartfelt, mindful show Cons: They stopped making it.
I am a mother of 2 young children, 22month and 8 month olds. I don't get too much time to myself as you are all aware of! But I do make time everyday at 4 pm to tune in to the Disney channel to watch the Torkelsons.
My children aren't at the age of...
