Pros: Everything. Cons: There isn't such thing as cons for this album.
Whenever I really dug into the heavy metal roots, I found many talented bands, that are now legends. I learned a little about bands such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath. However, I still had much to learn. There ...
Pros: Excellent songwriting, beautiful acoustic passages, very meaningful lyrics. Cons: Like all Iced Earth albums, this takes a couple listens to really get into.
This was the second Iced Earth album I bought, the first being 2001's Horror Show. After enjoying that particular album I was very interested in listening to the rest of Iced Earth's discography. I heard Something Wicked This Way Comes was among the...
Pros: Spot-on classic heavy metal with crisp production and epic songwriting Cons: Fast-slow-fast song order hurts the flow slightly
Iced Earth is a classic-sounding heavy metal band, standing firmly on their ground of producing non-commercial heavy metal, inflexible to pressure from record companies to be radio-friendly. They are a power metal/thrash band. As Terrorizer ...
Pros: Excellent production, masterful songwriting, unparalelled performance. Cons: You don't own it yet. (Ignore this if you do.)
If you don't own Iced Earth's 1998 release, Something Wicked This Way Comes, you're horribly out of date. I'm sorry to say it, I know it sounds mean, but from a friend, a buddy, an amigo, a pal: stop standing there and get this now! I first recieved ...
Pros: Great music, great band, very complete CD that never gets old. A masterpiece. Cons: None to speak of.
First of all, I just have to say that Iced Earth is, in my opinion, one of the best bands of all time in the general Heavy Metal / Hard Rock genre and that this album is a prime example of the quality of the band's music. The sound and feel of this music...
Pros: Barlows strongest vocal performance so far, heavy as hell Cons: underrated
I've always been a great fan of Iced Earth, and I consider Something Wicked This Way Comes to be the reason I started to enjoy this band so much. I've had Stormrider in my possession for a while, when a friend of mine lended me his newly bought Something...
Pros: vocals, song structures, instruments, lyrics Cons: great bands such as these often fall on deaf ears
I was really surprised to hear modern European Metal influences in an American band. 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' was my first glimpse into Iced Earth (and by no means my last). Strong song writing, great vocals, and expert instrument playing made...
Iced Earth's absolute greatest. by justice_ ,May 16 '06
Pros: Everything - an epic. Cons: You don't own it. (Ignore this if you do.)
If you're a fan of heavy metal, you're going to want to buy this album, if you don't already have it. The only 'real' problem with this album is the lack of consistency... (since almost every other song is slow/heavy). But the end... is incredible. The final three songs make up a concept about the Antichrist, and is put together so impeccably well, that it's hard to overlook. The infamous two-step gallop that Jon Schaffer is known for having adapted is all too obvious on this album, and is in my eyes, their absolute greatest album. Ever.
