Pros: Beautiful piano instrumentals, highly literate lyrics... music that takes you to another place. Cons: Occasional uninspired percussion and slight pacing problems. No biggie.

Pros: Brilliant pianist, angelic voice Cons: Could use maybe a bit more variety

Pros: Picturesque lyrics, stunningly gorgeous music and beautifully smooth vocals. Cons: That you don't get the full effect of seeing her play live.
I was introduced to Vienna's music by a friend who attends the same high school as Vienna did. I figured she was just another high school performer until I saw her CD in a local CD store and decided to buy it. I was hooked right away and started finding o ...
Pros: BEAUTIFUL voice and BEAUTIFUL lyrics Cons: I'll tell you when I find some.
Vienna Teng is talented. Period. Her songs are strong without being overpowering. The lyrics are deep and effecting, without being melodramatic.
A graduate of Stanford University, she quit her Silicon Valley job to pursue a career in music. She plays the piano expertly and uses it to accompany most of her songs. Though, as always, her voice is always the centerpiece to the beautiful melody.
In Waking Hour, the whole mood is very contemplative and well...warm. Her voice just seems to draw you in and make you feel really good. An example is "Lullaby for a Stormy Night", one of my favorite songs ever, and the song that introduced me to Vienna Teng in the first place. It's a very beautiful and soft song, very simple and comforting.
From this album, my suggestions are(though I suggest getting the entire thing, since they're all amazing) "The Tower", "Gravity", "Say Uncle", and "Lullaby for a Stormy Night". Those songs, I felt, were amazing, lyrically speaking, and very passionate.
All in all, Vienna Teng is worth a try. I guarantee you will be hooked.
