Pros: It’s the comeback it intended to be Cons: Just a bit more musical diversity would be nice
Many reviewers have mentioned the albums sleeve. It is touching indeed, a kids painting with what supposedly has to be Robert Smith in the center, surrounded by a girl, a monster, and a heart. Yesterday I made an attempt to look at the ...

Pros: .. Cons: ..
The first song I ever heard by The Cure was Burn. It tingled slightly. First one friend played it to me. Then another. Then I bought the soundtrack it was housed on, The Crow. And so a love story unfolded. I wont pretend ...

Pros: Some really good and catchy tracks. Cons: Quite a few poor tracks and has a silly feel at times
Now, it's going to be tough for me to identify songs and individual characteristics since I've been listening to the album several times on MTV's previews page but unfortunately they took it down now (considering the album is now out) so I can't exactly ...

Pros: A harder edge than we ever remember from The Cure. Cons: I. Don't. Think. So.
Over the years, The Cure have had their ups and downs. Not just in sales or releases, but in the mood of album as well. A good example of "up" would be 1979's Three Imaginary Boys (released in '80 under the American title of Boys Don't Cry), where ...

Pros: . Cons: .
Much has been made of Ross Robinson -- mostly known for his production work with Korn and Slipknot -- helming the Cure's first effort in four years. Among certain contingents of fans, much hand-wringing and navel-gazing was evident. "What if they ...

Pros: Good, Robert's voice is still strong and emotive Cons: A live recording and new producer take away the layered beauty that Cure fans crave
The Cure The Cure The Cure have released their first record in four years. I am not sure if the album is self-titled because they have run out of ideas or if they are trying to reach a new audience in the guise of a debut album. ...

Pros: fresh sound, a re-commitment to the young and new audience Cons: repetitive, overwrought, perhaps a bit calculated in spots
The Cure: The Cure Robert Smith and Co. have made an interesting choice with this unexpected new album, bringing in a producer more known for metal grunge (Ross Robinson, frequent collaborator of Korn, Slipknot and Limp Biskit) than Goth flourishes. ...

Pros: -Everything we could ever hope from a Cure record. Cons: -May be hard to get into for some...
The Cure have been quiet for four long years since one of their most experimental albums ever, titled Bloodflowers. Beautiful as it may have been, it was an awful representation of the band, therefore turning off many newcomers. Now, after a long ...

Pros: Going Nowhere and Labyrinth Cons: Everything else
It's official. Robert Smith has succumbed to Ozzy Syndrome. A burnt out, self-righteous, pompous, long burnt out has-been. Well, maybe not entirely, but this album is definitely a sign of it. It's customary now for every Cure album to be the last one, ...

Pros: Much more rock oriented than Bloodflowers. Some "classic cure" sound. Cons: Robert Smith appealing to a younger generation makes for a few weak songs.
being an uninformed Cure fan I first got an inkling of a new album when I saw them performing "End of the World" on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. As soon as possible, I went out and bought this album. This is one of those albums that you have to ...

Pros: Robert's signature vocal Cons: Dark sounding could have chosen a better song order or even left out a few.
Not at all what I imaged it would be. Perhaps I was looking for something that would bring me back to the 80's style of song writing and sound that made The Cure so compelling. The album is much darker and heavier sounding than any prior works ...

Cure-iffic !!!
by cureperry ,Jul 30 '04
Pros: it's got awesome tracks on it, and great CD xtra stuff for the comp Cons: um....i like it all.
This has got to be one of the best cure albums. "Wish" was an awesome CD, and so was Galore, but i think this one is better. It's better then Blood Flowers as well. And allthough "The End of the World" was proclaimed to be like, "The best hit" on the album, allthough it is a great song, there are other songs on it that I feel are better. I really like "Labyrinth" and "Before Three" better then "End of the World". The CD extra is awesome too, there's a great interview of Robert Smith talking about the album...Good work Boys! ;)

One of my favorites
by eightiesfeen ,Aug 04 '04
Pros: . Cons: none
This was my favorite Cure album in at least the past 10 years. Not since Pornography have I enjoyed a Cure album this much. The first single, while good, is no where near my favorite track off the album. "Never" and "Us or Them" are both amazing songs. The CD definitely has a good mix of the various sounds that the Cure has had over the years. If this ends up being their final album it would be a fitting exit for one of the best bands around.

1 of their best
by cureperry ,Jul 21 '04
Pros: luv all the songs Cons: doesn't go on for hours like i wish it did
Of course I didnt hesitate to buy the new, self-titled album by The Cure. I got it not really knowing what to expect, but the first track, Lost, totally blew me away and suddenly I was hooked. The CD has left my stereo since I bought it. Its amazing from start to finish. I totally addicted to End of the World and Anniversary. The Cure is definitely back from their four year absence with an unbelievable album.
P.S. If you buy the album you get all sorts of bonus stuff as well as some cool artwork.
