Pros: Most of DK's best songs are on this album. Cons: Tell me when you find one and I'll put it here.
When I walked out a Music World in my local mall, proudly displaying my new purchase, Plastic Surgery Disasters by the Dead Kennedys, my mom took one look at it and gave me this unforgettable look. You know, THE LOOK. From that moment on, I knew I would...
Pros: a lot of quality good songs, Jello Biafra is a punk God Cons: almost none
Dead Kennedys is THE band for my generation. In the 80s they defied every law and rule just to make an album. Actually, I shouldnt say DK. I should correct myself and say Jello Biafra; since he is was brains behind the band. Sure, the rest of...
Pros: Jello Biafra is an intelligent mind and uses his abilities to his potential. Cons: Some of the songs are very offensive but state good points along the whole way.
Jello Biafra, the lead singer of one of the most offensive and the best 1980s punk band knows how to bash everything from the United States Government to the local college kid seeking a good fortune. This CD is a must own if you love loud obnoxious...
This record belongs in that proverbial abandoned subway tunnel I fictionally posited some weeks ago, a metaphorical garret where the self-flagellating "perfect punk" resides in lieu of the more pedestrian "desert island".
Pros: music and the message of "Plastic Surgery Disasters" are tuneful and timeless. Cons: It's been stolen! "In God We Trust, Inc" EP just doesn't belong.
Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables is often considered the biggest highlight in the Dead Kennedy's career, but I beg to differ. I like that album a lot, and it deserves it's classic status, but I think that their first full-length follow-up,...
Pros: One of the better hardcore punk albums out there Cons: The In God We Trust EP is included
This one is my favorite Dead Kennedys album. Maybe because it's the first one I bought, or maybe it came out before that durn Tipper Gore and the blasted PMRC sought to destroy the band in the Frankenchrist trial in California. For those that are...
Pros: LP and EP combined, some of DK's best songs Cons: In God We Trust cover may offend
Plastic Surgery Disaster/In God We Trust is my second Dead Kennedys album I bought, and in my opinion falls short of Fresh Fruit. Also, In God We Trust can be offensive several ways. First, Jesus is crucified on dollar bills on the back cover. Second, ...
The Dead Kennedys' Plastic Surgery Disasters came in the midst of the band's career, before legal difficulties caused a final break. This album comes as the group was beginning to tone their skills a little better, and this is evident in the length of ...
Pros: 21 Songs
Over 50 Minutes
A lot of Variety Cons: Long songs
This is the Dead Kennedys second LP along with an EP. The first 13 songs are from their 1982 Plastic Surgery Disasters. The next 8 are from 1981's In God We Trust Inc.
You must buy this album because it has a lot of variety. It has scary ballads...
Pros: A better sound Cons: Songs a bit weaker than on its predecessor
The Dead Kennedys were certainly the most committed American band of the 1980's. Their politics were extremely left wing and certainly at odds with the tenor of the times. From our vantage point of 20 years later they might seem even more out of place...
Pros: Great Guitar Work. Album Flows Well. Cons: Ugly Cover.
The following pertains to Plastic Surgery Disasters only:
East Bay Ray's guitar work on this album is phenomenal. This is one of the most overlooked rock albums. Hey, just because it's Jello Biafra and the Dead Kennedys doesn't mean it can't be good rock music.
In a way, this is almost a concept album. Each song flows nicely into the next, and once you get to know this album well enough, you have to listen the songs in order. And the beginning of the first track and the end of the last track loop and sync together, for those nights of endless repeat.
