Thanks for this review. It brought tears, but that's OK. I have this CD, and every one John Denver ever made. And duplicates of most on tape, to play while driving. Like you, when I just plain need to feel good, more than any other music...

John Denver's transparency is apparent in this recording. His speech after "Farewell Andromeda" is well rehearsed, "We are we came into Los Angeles on Saturday and drove down to the beach and when I saw the ocean..., he goes onto about when he was working for a civil engineer in Long Beach.
This is perhaps one of the most testimonial type albums I have heard. His transition from the melancholic "Rhymes & Reasons, to more humorous songs, like "Forest Lawn", demonstrate the hallmarks of a charasmatic and versatile performer.
The 5000 people at the Universal Ampitheatre on Mon 26 Aug 74'(the first of 7), would have witnessed a wonderful event.
