Pros: Think "Ghostbusters" meets "Men in Black" via "Independence Day" Cons: "Ghostbusters," "Men in Black," and "Independence Day" were all better.
"Let's shampoo some aliens," shouts David Duchovny to the Glen Canyon Fire Department as they set off to save the world from total destruction by phantasmagorical creatures from another planet.
Absurd? Totally - and that's the key...

Pros: David Duchovny, science for the scientifically challenged Cons: Not many
Yes. One just ate a guy on the golf course, there's one in this ladies house that bit her, one is flying through the mall carrying a woman, and let's not forget the one that attacked the honorable Governor of Arizona (Dan Aykroyd).
With all...

Pros: Has some funny jokes, great special effects, actually smart at times Cons: Brings up my deja vu issues, really stupid most of the time, immaturity reigns supreme
This isn't a bad movie. It's not as terrible as the previews and trailers made it look, it's just horribly lackluster and mediocre. Sure, the special effects are quite impressive, but that doesn't make up for how simple and predictable this movie is....

Pros: It is really funny in some parts Cons: It is totally unoriginal
I wish outer space guys would conquer the Earth and make people their pets, because I'd like to have one of those little beds with my name on it.

Pros: Funny, entertaining, great special effects Cons: Bad language, sexual innuendo. Not for small children.
Throughout movie history, we have seen legions of hostile aliens destroyed in hundreds of ways, from Slim Whitman tunes ("Mars Attacks") to human diseases ("War of the Worlds.") In "Evolution", the heroes take on the alien scourge using a firetruck...

Pros: some decent comedic acting and very funny spots Cons: an over-reliance on toilet humor and it does drag in spots
When I first saw a preview for Evolution about this time last year, I thought I would be going to see it in the theater without a doubt. I didn't, only because something changed in me over the summer, and I resigned myself to renting it when it...

Pros: Some good chuckles, Orlando Jones Cons: Eh... It's only okay.
Maybe I’m just spoiled by all of the fantastic independent and foreign films that I see, but Evolution is just kind of lacking something. That’s not to say I hated it or that it was awful, but it just wasn’t a great comedy.
The...

Pros: Some funny bits and good effects. Cons: Surprisingly bland given its premise-with-potential.
On June 8, 1984, director Ivan Reitman unleashed his moderately anticipated Ghostbusters onto the world, only to see that world make it so popular that it went on to top none other than Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom as the year’s box...

Pros: Performances and Special Effects are Spot-On. Very Funny. Cons: Falters in the third act. Doesn't quite follow-through on its premise.
It’s been 17 years since Ghostbusters took the box office by storm in the summer of ’84. Now, in the aftermath of Columbia Pictures refusing to greenlight $100 million for a third installment in the franchise, who ya gonna call but director Ivan Reitman...

Pros: David Duchovny and Orlando Jones work well together. Cons: Not as funny as you might hope. Becomes disgusting towards the end.
Picture this. A British guy comes up to me and says, "Angela, your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to go see Evolution"
"Hey, with David Duchovny? You bet!"
"Wait, Angela. There's more to the mission. You have to...

Pros: Surprisingly good; Great effects, decent script, chock full of some genuinely funny moments.
Cons: Some gratuitous toilet humor, a couple of jokes landed flat, but that's to be expected.
"The government? No, I know those guys, no way." - Ira Kane, "Evolution"
There have been a few movies in recent times which have attempted, though rarely successfully, to combine the polar opposites Action and Comedy. It may be...

Pros: Amazing special effects Cons: The screenplay is sloppy and generally without laughs
Ivan Reitman is the master of broad comedies in the same way that Danielle Steele is the master of romance novels. While they are both the best in their respective genres, few would consider either a distinction to be proud of. Ivan Reitman's work in...

Pros: Orlando Jones's performance, or at least most of it. Cons: Just about everything else.
It would appear that a strange and terrible virus is afflicting many of Hollywood's most reliable directors, inducing them to produce grotesquely bad films. Last year it caused a seemingly delirious Darren Aronofsky to make the excreable Requiem For A...

Pros: Predictable, too far-fetched Cons: Graphics well done
A few years ago came the blockbusters Independence Day. Next came Armageddon and then Deep Impact. One sure thing movie makers learned from these hits was that the threat of total annihilation draws big crowds.
However,...

Pros: Very funny, great cast, good special effects! Cons: To many things make you jump out of your seat
Every time I think of this movie I laugh. It's exactly what comes to mind when you think of a good comedy.
Evolution compares a lot to an Austin Powers or Ace Ventura type of movie. Where it's relatively low cost, with funny...
