Pros: Believable & Complex Characters, great story and environments, Movie coming soon! Cons: er... hmmm... left wanting more is about all I can think of.
Intro I opened a surprise Christmas gift from my wife to find it was Firefly, the complete season. Oh yeah I remember that, me wife works for Fox and had brought my attention to it as she knows I am a scifi nut. I watched the first show and ...

Pros: The show itself. Cons: That it was canceled and this is "the COMPLETE" series.
Growing with Battlestar Galactica and reruns of the original Star Trek series and the Transformers cartoon and Star Trek: TNG and Robotech and a host of others, I came to cull an acute understanding of what makes good science fiction. Reading Asimov and ...

Pros: Imaginative Western archetype ensemble cast, skillfully acted. Fully realized western/sci-fi setting. Intelligent screenplay. Cons: Somewhat simple hackneyed Western plotlines, though spun with clever wit and irony.
I lost track of Buffy: the Vampire Slayer after the second season but I always respected its creator, Joss Whedon's, talent. His first comic book foray, Frey, was quite a disappointment, but his work re-launching the Astonishing X-men was exceptional. ...

Pros: The boxset is inexspensive, you can also get a feature length movie called Serenity
Cons: Fox cancelled it, so unless someone commissions more, this is it .
Firefly: The Series itself I came upon this series quite by accident. I was looking through listings one night, and nothing else decent was on at the time, so I flicked to the Sci Fi channel's reshowing of the original Star Trek series (no jokes ...

Pros: Great Writing, good acting, superbly shot, Movie on its way. Cons: Cancelled after the first season; kinda feel "left hanging".
Before I begin, let me say that I am going to be intentionally general - I wouldn't want to spoil anything for anybody by giving away any plot lines. I saw a few of the Firefly shows on Fox a couple of years ago, and thought that it was an interesting ...

Pros: Enthralling Sci-Fi, not all about lasers and holodecks. Superb cast of characters. Cons: It got cancelled after one season. I only wonder what might have been...
Firefly was a science fiction series that came from the imagination of Joss Whedon. Unfortunately it only lasted one season before being cancelled. Since then it's gathered a lot of cult status with fans. People have firefly parties! Not since the ...

Pros: An innovative sci-fi series with insightful and frank commentaries. Cons: Missing some polish and nice-to-have DVD features.
Joss Whedon's television series, notable for their lengthy story arcs, unexpected plot turns, and engaging, yet subtly complex characters, constitute perfect material for DVD season box sets. But unlike his earlier creations, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and ...

Pros: Great extras, superb drama and first class writing, as well as a perfect cast. Cons: Erm, there were only 14 episodes. Goram Fox Executives!
When Buffy the Vampire Slayer reached Season Seven, there were concerns that the quality would wane, because of a new love in Joss Whedon's life. The mysterious 'space project' as Firefly was originally known, was like a younger mistress to the rapidly ...

Pros: Vibrant, alive characters, fascinating world, classic Whedon dialogue. Cons: Far too short.
I didn't watch Firefly when it first aired on FOX in 2002. In 2002 I was thirteen years old, barely even watching primetime TV. I did hear of it, as I was at the time a budding Buffy fan, and I recognized Joss Whedon's name on the half dozen ads I saw in ...

Pros: Great ensemble cast, intelligent and witty dialogue, repeat viewings are rewarded. Cons: There's too little of it.
I cannot think of any two genres I enjoy less than westerns and science-fiction, so I wasn't nearly as open-minded as I should have been when a friend of mine sent my wife and me the complete Firefly as a wedding gift. Frankly, I actively intended ...

Pros: Wonderfully written, lively universe and a magnificent ensemble cast. Cons: There are only 14 episodes (thanks a lot, Fox!).
Seriously, I keep finding these excellent TV shows either a couple seasons into their run, or after they've been pulled off the air. It's really annoying. At least in the case of Firefly, I can chalk that up to simply not having heard about the ...

Pros: One of the best TV series ever, that nobody saw Cons: Cut down in its prime
After Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel became huge successes on The WB, 20th Century Fox Television realized the guy behind those shows was on their payroll (the original BtVS movie was a 20th Century Fox film, so they owned the show, too, even though ...

Pros: original, brilliant, outstanding, talent everywhere, a revolutionary series. Cons: it was canceled
You may or may not have noticed the trend in television of canceling good shows before there time. One of the best examples in recent times is Firefly. An outstanding and original show that was canceled after only eleven episodes (fourteen were made, but ...

Pros: Well made. Consistent. Excellent characters. Cons: No resolution: the series was cancelled. Movie, please, Universal?
Maybe you don't care for westerns. Maybe you don't like science fiction. I can't blame ya. After trying to stomach the latest Star Trek, I'm about ready to swear off any series that needs techno-babble to drive the plot. And I'm a card-carrying nerd. ...

Pros: Excellent characters, storyline, writing, main plots, sub-plots, EVERYTHING! Cons: The Series didn't last. Should be brought back.
Well I had never heard of FIREFLY until I saw the movie SERENITY. Even then I sort of didn't think too much of that 'verse until this past month. Serenity has been playing on HBO and Cinemax for the last several weeks and I thought, what the heck and ...
