Pros: Queen Latifah and Kevin Bacon. Entertaining movie. Cons: Predictable. Some characters are stereotypes.
I tend to like Queen Latifah, though I haven't seen all of her movies. I recently watched Beauty Shop, a 2005 movie, for the second time.Single mother Gina is working as a hairstylist in a high end salon in Atlanta that is ...
Pros: Good heart-warming storyline. Cons: Poor direction, and bad execution of storyline.
Beauty Shop is not the worst movie I have seen, but it is in no way the best. The movie, though pleasant, is plagued by improper pacing. The first 25 minutes are slow and laborious. The actors seem to be trying too hard to elicit laughter from the ...

Pros: Queen Latifah. Need I say more? Cons: Not enough Della Reese.
Beauty Shop has achieved the highest level of American artistic avant-garde. The core premise is as captivating as an old man returning soup at a deli. Despite the titular similarity to Barber Shop, I believe the lessons here run much deeper.
Bravo, Bille Woodruff. You have again outdone yourself.
Gina's quest for independence is synonymous with the American dream. She has broken out on her own and achieved....not a small feat for a woman of her social status.
Quen Latifah's performance was as riveting as her display in the U.N.I.T.Y. music video and as believable as her role of Khadijah in Living Single.
Overall, I would recommend buying this movie, but at the very least, rent it. It will not be regretted!
