Pros: Josh Lucas, Derek Luke, John Voight, film and accounts of real game Cons: Not in-depth or entirely accurate
In a scene from Glory Road, the head coach puts one of his players through an exhausting drill as punishment for violating team rules. During the drill, the player stops to ask the coach when the team will start to use some more of the strengths ...

Pros: The best performance of Josh Lucas' career. Cons: Unrealistic basketball sequences, thin plot, Jon Voight
Glory Road are two love stories, racial injustice, basketball action, and just about anything related to a feel good sports movie. I suppose you are expected to come out of the theater loving Bruckheimer films but the reality sets in and you are ...

Pros: great basketball footage pieced together well, focused on the whole team not just Haskins Cons: Haskins' family is superfluous and feels artificially placed into the story
I've visited several hundred college campuses over my lifetime. Some of them I lived or worked on. Some of them my parents worked on. Some of them held seminars or workshops I attended. Some of them I toured before I decided where to attend school. Some ...

Pros: Josh Lucas, a story that was worth revisiting Cons: A little too slick, like most of Bruckheimer
I was fortunate, during my viewing of "Glory Road" to be sharing an almost empty movie theater one afternoon with a famous pro football coach and his family of young boys. I say that because I might have made light of the film that I saw, contrasting it ...

Pros: A powerful story; some solid acting performances. Cons: Poorly produced; poorly scripted.
When I realized that Jerry Bruckheimer was putting together this film on such a powerful moment in sports history, I was concerned. These concerns were not unfounded. Bruckheimer--as per his usual modus operandi--puts style over substance, and in the ...

Pros: Keeps your attention throughout the entire film. Cons: none
I played basketball for four years during high school. I enjoyed it. I knew the thrill of winning by a major margin and by losing by a small margin. Of losing to a rival or beating a rival. I knew what it was like to go to practice or to tryouts and have ...

Pros: Basketball sequences, great acting, wonderful cast, watching the most important moment in basketball history Cons: Pacing slow at times, Jon Voight as Adolph Rupp, not enough "coaching"
Every sports fan should see this movie, especially if you are a fan of basketball as I am. If you are, you already know the folklore behind the 1966 NCAA Championship game between the national powerhouse #1 Kentucky Wildcats (coached by Hall of Famer ...

Pros: Josh Lucas turns in a great performance, the basketball is great Cons: The realistically portrayed racism is hard to watch, pacing is uneven
Glory Road tells the true story of famed college basketball coach, Don Haskins, and his scrappy team of African American players who had to overcome pervasive racism - ranging from nasty remarks to physical attacks - in order to win the 1966 NCAA ...

Pros: Good game sequences. Cons: Numerous cliches and very by the numbers.
Sports films have long been a popular genre in Hollywood as classics such as “Pride of the Yankees”, “The Natural”, and “Raging Bull” are all examples of some of the finest examples of sports films which encapsulate the very essence of the sport they ...

Pros: Entertaining
Inspiring story Cons: Wished they focused more on the basketball.
Film's missing Haskin's black childhood friend Herman Carr
There's a reason this movie was the #1 grossing movie the first week it was out. The people marketing the movie must have underestimated it's word of mouth appeal -- if you look closely Glory Road showed in fewer theaters than any other movie in the top ...

Pros: inspiring, keeps your attention all the way through, shows you a different perspective of life Cons: not completely accurate
Glory Road is a great movie! There are so many lessons to be learned from this movie. I think the main lesson that can be found is that if you keep trying and don’t give up you can do anything you want to do. The Texas Western basketball team was not ...

Must See Basketball Movie
by kjscrafts ,Dec 22 '06
Pros: Very realistic acting and scenes Cons: None
This is a touching movie about challenging the ideas of coloreds being allowed to play basketball. The movie shows the journey of a team made up of both white and blacks learning to deal with racial hatred to become the unexpected champions. The action on the court really seems real and not just acting plays out. The actors, especially the coach, do a outstanding job of showing the emotions most often frustration. This movie can be enjoyed by most basketball fans.

Great, heartfelt movie
by bcastle ,May 05 '06
Pros: Very interesting, uplifting Cons: None
I loved this movie from the first frame. It held my attention and I'm not an athlete by nature. I've got 2 kids that I took with me and they loved it as well. There were some kind of intense moments, considering I had an 8 year old and a 7 year old. The acting was terrific. There were no false moments and even the no-name actors that played the basketball players were outstanding. I didn't expect that. The basketball seemed very authentic and not "staged" like a lot of sports scenes in movies do. The ending was uplifting. It was nice that it was based on a true story.

A very good movie
by erkcuf ,Jan 24 '06
Pros: plot, the acting. Cons: storyline is not new
I thought this movie was well portrayed. The acting and the overall story line is not exactly original. Despite that it was a pretty clean movie. You also learn a piece of American history through out the movie. Disney did a good job here.
