Pros: pretty accurate, smaller size, good UI. Cons: no light, fewer features than some of competitors
This was one of the first altimeter watches on the market, and although it has been upgraded a bit over the years, it is essentially unchanged. It is a trusted companion to many mountaineers and skiers around the world. It offers most of the key features...
Pros: gadgets galore, very accurate, durable, simple to operate Cons: no light, reasoned excuse; temperature sensor in a bad location
How old do you think the Avocet watches are? take a guess... The first Avocet sold in 1992. Yeah, thats ten years these things have been around! Quite amazing when you take into account all of the engineering and technology that has gone into this little...
Pros: great toy for diehard skiers who are into logging their vertical feet Cons: useless for temperature information, battery replacement a headache
First, I have the ORIGINAL Avocet Vertech. The new one supposedly has longer battery life, which would address my only complaint about this thing. However, I have already spent a lot on two of these watches and am reluctant to buy yet a third. I ...
I’d like to comment on both the watch and the customer service of Vertech. When the watch first came out, it was really the first to offer a reasonably affordable instrument that could measure altitude, vertical skied and runs made. All of these ...
Pros: Surprisingly accurate, bullet-proof except for battery, really fun Cons: Buy a new band ASAP that lets you wear it over your jacket
I can no longer ski without it. It is so much fun to count your runs, total vertical feet and maximum speed (vertical speed, of course). I have never known it to make a mistake counting runs and the altimeter, speed and total vertical feet skied seem...
Avocet I OK, II is overpriced by johnbinford ,Mar 02 '05
Pros: adequate vertical feet counter and run counter Cons: only 299K feet. Sheesh...three weeks skiing.
I have the avocet I and have replaced the battery four times, the first time by mailing into the factory.
That was a nightmare, lost the use of the device for an entire season because Avocet was understaffed.
Now the device is stuck on -18F@70F and missing a case screw (hope they'll send me one without having to send it in for service...not going to happen this year since I just put in a new battery!!).
The battery can be changed easily for a couple bux.
