A Little-Known, Little-Used Park Just 40 Minutes From Omaha

Pros: Close to Omaha. Not ever crowded. High away from humidity and bugs.
Cons: Not the place to be if you boat or fish. 8 miles from the river.
Waubonsie sits about 8 miles due east of Nebraska City, NE-about 6 miles east of exit 10 on I-29. There are great hiking trails throughout the park. I speak only of the main park and not the horse trails/horse camp area to its north since I neither ...

Pros: great scenery and unique terrain
Cons: trails can be slick after heavy rain
Located in the Loess Hills of western Iowa, Waubonsie State Park is less than an hour south of the Omaha metro area. The park is about 5 miles off Interstate 29 and is between Sidney and Hamburg, Iowa and not far from the Arbor Day Lodge in Nebraska...
