Pros: Great performance, easy installation. Cons: Heat production, limited availability in prebuilt systems.

AMD Athlon XP 2800+

Pros: cheap, good performance Cons: none
This is a really good chip from amd, it is about 2.06 ghz but is the equivalent of the pentium 4 2.8 ghz, it runs farcry on medium perfectly, and doom 3 really smooth.
