Pros: Well built, good quality, and inexpensive. Cons: Loud, big, clock doesn't auto-set, and a few other minor annoyances.
UPDATE! - Significant problem found Several weeks ago, I now have a cable channel on 3 (which before was scrambled HBO). I have found that the built-in tuner shows SEVERE ingress on channel three, despite absolutely no interference ...

Pros: Two in one! Not expensive, either. Cons: Tiny buttons on remote, loud on the VCR side.
This DVD/VCR combo is a dream come true for me, I needed both in my living room and this unit takes up the same amount of space the VCR I used to have took up, give or take half an inch. The wiring part was a little tricky. I still can't manage to record ...

A piece of junk!!!
by campber ,Mar 02 '05
Pros: Small, light weight and very inexpensive. Picture quality was good while it lasted. Cons: Poor service life. You get what you pay for.
I bought this piece of equipment to replace a separate VCR recorder and DVD player that had quit working. After using the DVD player to watch 3 movies it quit working. The VCR however, continued to work. It had just passed the warranty period for parts and labor by approximately 1 month. The store where I purchased it did take it back, but they didn't have any others in stock and I don't know if I would have accepted another one.

Overall Quality is Great, Can't Complain
by gwhitaker6 ,Dec 14 '05
Pros: Stylish, easy to use, hasn't given me any major problems! Cons: DVD audio quality's slightly poor, some of remote control's buttons smaller/difficult to use.
Very inexpensive purchase from ebay.com, no major problems other than the DVD audio being a little lower than the VCR audio. Size is nice, functionable, stylish. Remote control is nice, some of the buttons are small, the middle round control is kind of hard to maneuver. Overall, a great buy, I would purchase again!

Doesn't Last, I wouldn't buy this again
by tootsiepop ,Nov 14 '05
Pros: Plays most formats of DVD, CD, and VHS that I would like Cons: annoying beeping, and the fact that it didn't last
I bought this DVD player over a year ago, and it was ok. A few quarks here and there, but what piece of electronics doesn't have quarks. One of the major quarks was it would randomly beep loudly. It wouldn't beep while viewing all DVDs, nor would it ever beep at the same spot, but occasionally it would beep loudly. Then just the other day, I couldn't get the DVD player to eject the DVD. Then it turned into scratching the DVD I had in it. And now, I can't even get the DVD part to turn on, and the VCR works perfectly ... can you explain that one to me? Well no one can. And just my luck, it was past all of the warranties so I'm going to have to just go buy a new one.

Doesn't work, DO NOT BUY!!!
by niketparikh ,Dec 29 '05
Pros: Space saver, easy for wiring and easy to use, works good only initially Cons: DVD stopped working suddenly - only VCR works now, but very dissatisfied.
DVD-VCR combo as such a good price sounded really a great deal and the Circuit City sales person got me into buying this product. It worked great initially, but then suddenly the DVD stopped working!!! VCR works fine, but the DVD doesn't work at all... Now, it's just a piece of junk because I just passed the warranty period!

Better than Sony
by hotgambler ,Aug 04 '04
Pros: Price, ability to play multiple formats, handles DVD-R pretty well. Cons: Machine is not perfect. Encountered minor problems with bonus features sections on burned DVDs.
I've tried Sansui, JVC, and Sony, and this machine played more types of media, at better quality, than any of them. I also have an old Apex 1500 that plays everything--best machine I've ever encountered. I think because Sony is a content provider, they make their machines unresponsive to any media that may be copied, even their booklet says the machine won't play DVDs or CDs with stickers, etc. on them.

Apex AD3800 Combo
by rgun38 ,Dec 14 '03
Pros: Plays SVCD and VCD formats Cons: A lot of VHS aligning for most tapes. It is not a simple adjustment.
For the price this is a pretty good VCR-DVD Combo player that also plays the other formats like SVCD and VCD.

totally dissatisfied, the feature-loaded DVD/VCR combo is unreliable and hard to use
by cherrimon ,Sep 07 '04
Pros: it reads a number of cd formats including video CD and supports progressive scan. Cons: All the nice features are nothing when it only lasts for a month.
I bought this product because it plays VHS, DVD, and video CD and it was recommended as a good buy by the sales guy. The price was good and it has all the features I looked for. After I bought it, I began to realize it's not such a good buy. It required quite a few adjustments to view an average video cassette properly. At least, it was playing DVD right. But it was only just past the time frame in which I could return the product to store that it completely quit playing DVD or video CD. I searched the manufacturer's site for support info and it was not very helpful. I emailed the manufacturer's support and received no reply. Then when I carefully read the warranty info and wanted to have it repaired, I found the warranty for labor had expired and they would only cover the parts. It would probably be cheaper and save me a lot of hassle to get another DVD player. I only used this product no more than ten times before it failed. It has the poorest reliability I have seen.

Hard to beat at the price,
by tom-az ,Sep 09 '04
Pros: Inexpensive, excellent VCR, very quiet. Cons: Low volume DVD Audio.
Paid $90 Office Max, VCR excellent; DVD very good BUT audio is low-just crank up the TV audio.
My first unit was defective, no video output.
Overall I'd say a fine unit, I've had mine for about a month. $15 gives you a 2 year exchange warrenty, they do not try to repair units.

Good Buy for your money
by faithsmome ,Nov 27 '04
Pros: Great price for what you are getting. Easy installation. Cons: No problems with it.
Very easy installation and I have had no problems with it's functions. Very pleased for it's price and convenience of having either media choice.
