Pros: Size and weight, apparent build quality, built-in 802.11g, good feature set, performance/value ratio Cons: Lackluster battery life, questionable optical-drive quality, average-quality screen, sketchy customer service
Second update, 2.11.04: I feel I have to drop my rating on the Averatec because of a service nightmare. Averatec's success seems to have meant some serious growing pains. My first update states that they were very quick to answer the phone. ...
Pros: Great value, perfect size Cons: Spotty quality control, makes noises
Update 5/24/05: My Averatec is still going strong, no problems to report other than the paint on the left track-pad button wearing down, but it doesn't bother me since it is just a cosmetic issue. I keep hearing people say that their keyboard leaves ...
Pros: Size, features, price
Cons: Audio level to low, touchpad left mark on screen, battery life can't watch whole DVD
I bought an Averatec 3225 small laptop from Sams Club (6-Months satisfaction guarantee with no restocking fee) on Friday. Over the weekend I used it to log onto my local WIFI LAN. Configuration was no problem and the range was satisfactory as my house ...
Pros: ultra-light, built in wi-fi, ability to turn wi-fi off when not in use under $1200.00 Cons: gets hot after awhile of using, small screen, small keyboard
I will make this a short review covering only the basics that matter. First this pc has a 1.55ghz that overclocks (according to AMD) roughly at 2.2ghz. Quite frankly this PC is ultra fast in its computations. Considering that my other laptop is a ...
Pros: Price, light weight, portability, good wireless, decent processor speed, large hard drive. Cons: Keyboard clicking, heat, fan, speakers, expandability.
I purchased this notebook in April 2004 because I wanted a small, light and inexpensive notebook. It has lived up to it's expectations. I use this as a portable desktop for email, paying the bills and browsing the Internet from anywhere in my house. ...
Pros: Quality, Price, Features, Easy to use, Great Keyboard Cons: No major cons, but if i got to put something then it'd be sound volume
I bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago and im very happy with it so far. I got it in samsclub for $899 and it came with 60gb hard drive, 512 mb RAM and dvd burner... I've read many reviews on this website and some people complain about real small things ...

Pros: lightweight, cheap (but that comes back to haunt you) Cons: Poor cd/dvd performance, poor power cord performance
I have had my Averatec 3200 Series laptop for two years. During the first year of use, the power cord got so hot that it melted into the body of the computer. I called support and they had me send it in (having to follow their shipping instructions set ...
Pros: super lightweight, manageable, price is competitive (look out for mail in rebates) Cons: Functions on keyboard are annoying, but bareable considering the price/weight/size.
I went back to grad school so mobility was essential for me. Size and weight were the biggest factors in my purchase. I had an HP pavilion weighing 8 lbs. and after a few weeks, my back was killing me. This laptop is the best alternative, lightweight. ...
Pros: price, size/weight, DVD/CDRW, built-in wireless/hardwired networking and modem, 40GB HD Cons: heat, moderately noisy fan, no floppy drive
I bought this computer at Sam's Club for $950 about a week ago and am pretty satisfied with it. The computer is very small and light, which is nice, and its performance is decent. The combo DVD/CDRW drive is a plus, as is the internal wireless network ...
The Averatec 3225HS I purchased from Circit City has 80 GB HD instead of the 40GB that many reviewers own. Again, for a laptop under $1000 it IS a great quality, even for an underdog company. I am a rookie at buying computers and did lots of research ...
Pros: Great deal for the price. Everything works fine. Fast, high capacity. Cons: The speakers are bad. The keyboard is not good, but fine anyway.
I bought this computer about 1 month ago. Before buying it, I read some reviews about the quality of the keyboard and some fan issues; however, I wanted a lightweight PC for less than 1000. So I bought it.
It is a great computer. Very nice screen, nice hard disk, big memory, nice battery, good looking, etc. It is faster than what I expected. This is my first Athlon-based PC, and I'm really impressed.
It is true that the first contact with the keyboard is not very promising; however, you get used to it in just a week. Now I can type really fast on it. The fan issue doesn't seem to be an issue in the 3225hs model; however, the speakers aren't the best quality.
There is not a lot of annoying bundle software included; just what you need. That is better than having lots of things that you will never use and that will slow down the startup.
Screen problem due to bad design 3225HS by oosan ,Feb 08 '05
Pros: low initial purchasing price Cons: problem prone plus bad warranty service lead to very high maintenance cost
Same bad experience with Averatec as other reviewers. Notebook is less than 5 months old and the screen went bad. Funny thing is there were 3 of us bought the same model at the same time. All three suffer the same problem: the protruding keyboard causes a permanent white imprint on the screen. (Averatec people are fully aware of this and refer to it as "keys resting on the screen.") Later, the screen develops a crack mark.
Returned to Averatec only to have them claim the unit was not covered by the warranty because the unit was damaged. Averatec even wants to charge $90 for diagnosis (for the problem they are aware of but choose not to recall.)
