Pros: Not bad for the price. Good mileage from the ink tanks. Cons: Unreliable color saturation.
This printer seemed very good when I first got it. The setup was straight-forward and the included software was good for organizing and printing photos. As expected, no USB cable was included. It weighs about 13 pounds and it has a fairly large footprint ...
Pros: Inexpensive ink tanks, great quality images Cons: big footprint, kind of heavy
This is an absolutely GREAT printer. The Canon i860 features 5 ink tanks, black bci-3ebk, black bci-6bk, yellow bci-6y, red bci-6m and blue bci-6c. Unlike most other printers that feature a single color ink cartridge and a single black ink ...
Pros: Individual ink tanks
Ease of Set up
Pict-Bridge feature
USB/Parallel Connections
Speed
Low operating costs Cons: Big Footprint(compared to Epson c42ux)
No USB Cable
I was in dire need of a replacement printer for my Epson c42 which was starting to show its age a little(text was starting to blur), and I have been following the reviews on this site for some time in regards to the Canon i860, but the $199 Cdn was still ...
Pros: It prints what you want it to print. Cons: Limited paper sizes.
I needed a printer for printing digital camera photos as well as computer generated renderings/illustrations. From what I've used in the past, I've received great results on one end, but less than average results on the other. I've also received less ...
Pros: Excellent printer for the price, even without the rebate! Cons: None!
After several hours of research via the Internet on a suitable replacement for my Epson 82C printer, I decided on the Canon i860. I finally reached the breaking point with Epson's inane "droplet-counter chips" on their over-priced cartridges. I even ...
Pros: low cost printer and low cost ink with better than average printing Cons: may not have all bells n whistles, but more than enough for my needs
I am enjoying the speed and quality of the Canon I860 printer and I am able to get ALL 5 of the cartridges for less than the price of ONE hp cartridge for my old hp printer! The printer also lets you know when you are low on ink and which ink cartridge it is! I print web pages, photos, documents all without any hitches. I also like the Canon Easy-WebPrint toolbar for Internet Explorer. Nice feature.
2-yrs - Still GREAT Printer by bettyb4 ,Nov 06 '05
Pros: 2-yrs-Savings on ink, EXCELLENT PIC/TEXT print, easy to use, print on whatever I want...NO CONS! Cons: 2-yrs...Couldn't ask for better, especially for the price!
I have used many printers, and this is the best yet...I have use it for 2 years..photos, and text are continuing to be GREAT! I may have needed to buy 5-cartridges in the beginning (4 at $11 each, and 1 at $14.50), but it costs me less, when I need to replace a single black (text black at $11 or Photo Black at $14.50) or color cartridge (for $11 for each of 3 colors...depending on what you use most...Magenta, Yellow, or Cyan) rather than replace ALL when one goes out for $40. This printer prints Photos GREAT, and as good or better than the print shops...friends have been shocked that the pics I give them are from my printer, even after 2-years. And text, looks like it came straight from the image or pen. I would recommend this printer to anyone..and have NEVER had to call tech support for assistance! I work on computers, and repair them and printers for my home business...I will continue to recommend this one!
Pros: Fast, Quiet, Beautiful photos, Stingy ink usage, a great bargain at the $119.00 I paid! Cons: 4x6 photo paper feeder can be fussy, no CD print capability like overseas model(i865).
I replaced my HP 932c with the now discontinued i860. The upgrade is quite astonishing! I didn't know what I've been missing. I print a combination of many photos, graphics and text and the i860 breezes through it all with very high quality.
Pros: I haven't thrown it out the window yet. Cons: Locks up for no apparent reason.
Despite reviews here and elsewhere that encouraged me to buy the i860, I hate this printer. My work laptop does not have USB 2.0 (a year-old Dell), so I've tried it both on the parallel port (via the docking station) and the USB 1.0. If you just press "print," let alone "High Speed Print" (a joke) you can end up waiting forever, literally, for a page to come out. Sometimes closing the Info icon in the system tray gets it going, sometimes opening and closing the printer itself will get it running. All this, still, with the new Windows Service Pack 2 installed and the latest Canon drivers (which installed without error or intervention but are not Windows certified). Perhaps this is a good machine for USB 2.0, otherwise I'd avoid it, especially if one of the frequent uses is to make a quick MapQuest print as you're running out the door.
Great Printer, Fast , High Quality by is300m ,Jan 08 '05
Pros: Fast, High Quality, Quiet, Economical Cons: Sometimes I for get which button is which
I am a huge fan of canon bubble jet printers and have used them since we switched from a dot matrix printer. It is the most quietest printer I have ever owned, and it is combined with great performance running on USB 1.1(none of my computers have USB 2.0 installed currently). It is shared on my network with no issues to speak of. My mom makes all of her Greeting Cards on it, and my entire family is impressed with the quality of the cards. Also great are the Individual ink tanks are more economical, because you are not wasting a tank with three colors when only one color needs to be replaced. Overall I would recommend this printer to everyone.
