Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior space and versatility, fuel economy, Honda rep for reliability
Cons: Falling behind in interior ambiance, handling, and performance.
The Bottom Line: Still a good vehicle, but growing long in tooth and no longer best-in-class.

Back in December 2001 I drove the newly introduced second-generation CR-V. I liked it a great deal, and posted a very positive review he re. Since then I have driven and reviewed many other compact SUVs, at times ...

Pros: Many safety features, excellent handling and braking, very attractive appearance.

The Bottom Line: I feel the CR-V is the best value one can get today in a small SUV.

2005 HONDA CR-V 4-WHEEL DRIVE SPECIAL EDITION Every year, I anxiously await the unveiling of the new Honda's. One of my past favorites has been the Honda CR-V. I have driven several in the past, and a few of my relatives and friends ...

Feb 08 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Dependable, solidly built, roomy, 5 star crash rating
Cons: Color selection, (no purple), cloth fabric feels cheap, rear seats don't fold down completely
The Bottom Line: There's a reason this is my 3rd Honda: Reliability, safety, price point, attention to detail, excellent resale stats and overall solid value.

With almost 80,000 miles on my dependable 1996 Honda Accord LX, my head was on a swivel each time a great looking Honda CR-V cruised by. On the lookout for dependability, versatility, passenger safety, creature comfort and gas-sipping ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: excellent safety rating; reputation for reliability; good clearance from ground
Cons: poorly designed interior; extremely sluggish automatic transmission
The Bottom Line: safe and reliable; rides nice and high; annoying design flaws; definitely avoid the sluggish automatic transmission

I recently bought a 2005 Honda CR-V EX automatic transmission, after having driven a 1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe manual transmission for many years. I wanted a mini-SUV because I commute into D.C. several times a week, and wanted to be able to see ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfort, quiet, ride, fit & finish, value
Cons: No deals on the price.
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend this car to anyone. Roomy, comfortable, quiet, great road tripper.

We needed to replace our 2002 Mazda Protege5. With 53000 miles on it, it was a good, reliable car, but we wanted something a little more suited to the weather and terrain in our area. That means something with AWD. Our short list was the Subaru ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: This small/mid SUV looks nice, rides well and is competitively priced
Cons: Somewhat underpowered engine
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone for its good looks and great value

I needed a small SUV for daily commuting and systematically narrowed the list to two choices: The Honda CR-V SE and Toyota RAV4. While both are great cars and will get the job done, the CR-V beat out the RAV4 for three reasons: Size, value, and ...

Best Mid Size SUV On The Market Hands Down

Jan 20 '05 - Updated Jan 25 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Its a Honda, Powerful, quiet, smooth, great looking, and an outstanding value.
Cons: Driver leg room for tall people. Getting one sold out from under you.
The Bottom Line: If you can do it get a Honda. Not just the CR-V, any model they offer that meets your needs. You cannot beat the value for your money.

I was driving a fully loaded 2000 Ford Ranger, until it nearly caught fire. I found myself having to make a decision, buy a new Honda, which I had been contemplating doing at the model year end anyway, or spend a bunch of money, and waste a lot of time ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: So many cool features, peppier engine than expected, cheaper insurance
Cons: Sometimes strains in high speed passing
The Bottom Line: Great small utility with great features. I've been really pleased with it so far. And with Honda quality, I plan to keep it for at least 10 years.

I purchased a new 2005 Honda CRV EX with automatic transmission about a month ago and am extremely pleased. At first, I thought it would be a difficult adjustment from driving a Lexus IS300, but it hasn't been. Not that the CRV is a luxury vehicle, ...

May 05 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful engine, classy exterior and interior design, exceptional utility, tight fit and finish
Cons: One too many cogs in transmission, cheap antenna, drivetrain drone at low RPM cruising speeds
The Bottom Line: The Honda CR-V should be the first choice among competitors in the low $20k price range due to its maker's impeccable reputation for quality and it's superior design.

Our CR-V, a Nighthawk Black Pearl LX with all-wheel-drive and automatic transmission, was purchased the last week of February from Crown Honda in Greensboro, North Carolina. The retail price of the vehicle including freight charges was $21,910; armed ...

Pros: the latest safety features, roominess & comfort.
Cons: none so far
The Bottom Line: A reliable safe car for any weather--a great alternative to a larger SUV or a minivan.

Briefly described, the CR-V EX is a small SUV that seats five has Honda's "Real time 4 wheel drive," ABS, a full array of airbags, vehicle stability control to reduce chances of loss of control, cruise control, moonroof, 6 cd in dash radio, ~22/29 mpg. ...

Practical small SUV, but not refined or problem free

by family_dude
Jan 09 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Roomy, practical, 25 MPG with "4WD"
Cons: Bad tires, noisy brakes, not really 4WD
The Bottom Line: The CR-V has a good price and MPG, but if you want real quality a Toyota RAV4 may be a better, but more expensive, choice.

We purchased this Honda CR-V 4WD LX in Dec. 2004 for my wife, to replace her 1999 Toyota RAV4. She loved the RAV, but I convinced her that Honda engineering was superior, even if Honda's quality wasn't quite that of Toyota. Late in the year, just before ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: A Simple Solution for Daily Needs, Very Practical, Good Ergonomics, Safety Features.
Cons: Few Available Convenience Options, Pricey considering that it's quite a plain ride.
The Bottom Line: A good car. Dependable, Reliable, Practical, and fun.

I previously had a 1997 Honda CR-V EX 4WD now I have a 2005 EX 4WD also. Aside from the obvious bodily changes, the new 2005 stays true to the theme that the first generation CR-V has set. I have my first CR-V from when I was a Sophomore in college, ...

Pros: Drive by wire, 5 spd auto trans, 5 star safety, great gas mileage, ROOM!
Cons: Strange foldable table between front seats.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for an affordable SUV, this is the one. Price, saftey rating, room, VTEC engine, 5 speed automatic, 4WD.

Well, we shopped like mad before buying our CRV (mostly online) and the day came when we decided to go for a test drive. We loved the dealership we chose - if such a thing can happen in the real world. None of the usual junk that goes on when a person ...

Mar 10 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: - Good gas mileage - Reliable
Cons: - Boring - No offroad ability - Rough ride
The Bottom Line: Don't go to Honda for an SUV.

I drive this truck(if you can really call it that) on the job. After 20k miles I can say that reliability might be the only things this vehicle has going for it. First off, you would never take this thing off road. Anything more then a dirt path and ...
