Pros: High mileage, low emissions, roomy interior, endless high-tech novelty, respectable road manners. Cons: Computer-controlled driving experience is part R2-D2, part HAL 9000--usually friendly, but sometimes frustrating. The Bottom Line: The Prius integrates efficiency, practicality, and technology into one exceedingly appealing package. On its own terms, it's even fun to drive.
My Experience After owning a series of Volvos--whose reliability ranged from "poor" to "can we just tape over the check-engine light?"--my girlfriend decided it was time to invest in a brand-new car. And, having become quite the car enthusiast ...

Pros: Great gas saver, roomy Cons: no electric seats
I love this car. I get a honest 43-45 miles per gallon. There is so much space in it. I know it is comfortable due to the fact I stayed in it quite a bit after the hurricane for relief from the heat and noise from the generator since we had no electricity. The best feature is the key-less entry. You just get in and press and button and go! Awesome. The steering is great. I zoom through traffic like a cat chasing a mouse. It has more get up and go then you would think being a just 4 cylinder. Of course the electric motor helps. Speaking of, the motor is so quite. I have be careful in parking lots because you can't hear it and some people get a little surprised. I got the leather seats but no navigation system that I would have liked to have, but that was due to the consumer demand. One other option that isn't offered would be electric seats.

Pros: comfort, room, pickup, increased MPG, lower emissions, nav system and just plain fun. Cons: humm, I truly haven't found a con yet.
If it's a Prius, yes you can and I do. I'm not a car buff so I can't explain the ins and outs of what makes it great from a mechanical point of view. What I can tell you is: it is comfortable (and I'm picky because of a bad back), my MPG has steadily increased - I've driven over 22,000 miles in 1.33 years, there is far more room than I ever expected, pickup is very good (I drive back and forth to CA quite a bitand have no problems), the navigation system is wonderful, and, my style conscious friends say it looks very European (that's good).
Aside from the decreased emissions, increased MPG, the "ripple effect" is profound. 3 of my friends who had been on the fence about buying one, now have one and many, many others have come up to me asking about it. Who knows how many of them have gone on to pollute the earth less with their own Prius?

It's a Matter of Personal Opinion

Pros: looks nice, cozy, roomy Cons: costly, not 100% reliable, not always gas saver
My husband and I invested in this car as gas prices were climbing, and as the distance he had to travel from home to work was getting farther and farther. We thought that it would save on money and would be a reliable car. Indeed, we were wrong on both accounts. It would stop running - completely shutting off - at stoplights, stop signs, yields, and the like. And, as far as saving on money, we had to pay so much for the car that we didn't save anything at all in the long run. My husband was having to fill up every day, and he drives about 100 miles per day, or a little more. It was, in our opinion, getting expensive. Depending on your driving conditions, and your personal opinion - it may or may not be the car for you. We ended up and sold the car to someone else who was very interested in having one - at any expense. He knew the problems we were having with it and said he wanted it anyway.

A Great Car!

Author's Product Rating:

Pros: 50 MPG fuel consumption, nice creature comforts and a roomy interior Cons: low profile makes it difficult to see beyond large vehicles
This car is roomier and zippier than you might imagine. Even the back seats are quite roomy in the 2005 model. It has all of the creature comforts of a standard to luxury automobile and you can't beat the fuel consumption (47 mpg when I first bought it, 51 mpg now -- after 20,000 miles). There are very few dash panel controls. They are on the steering wheel and/or the touch screen computer display panel. Cup racks and many storage compartments are conveniently located throughout the passenger compartment. Trunk room is ample and the back seats fold down for additional space if needed for transporting larger items. The sound system is very good.
On the negative side, the low to ground body is easier to dent (curbs, gas station islands, etc.) and the low profile makes it more difficult to see street signs and distinguish between toll booth lanes beyond trucks and other larger vehicles.
I have driven Honda Accord EXs and a 2001 Toyota Prius before this car. I prefer this car to any of those cars.

Pros: Very good gas millage, Very nice features, Awesome audio system Cons: Key Remote thing costs a lot to replace
The Toyota Prius is the best car I have ever drove. The gas millage is untouchable and the features are like those of a concept car. I found the audio system is quite good. This makes a good car for everyday driving and it has the sports car look. The oil filter is easy to get to and adding fluids is easy. The backseats don't have a lot of headroom but legroom is good. I don't like how the interior didn't come in grey or black because the inside of the hatchback is black and the dash is black. The tan doesn't look so great to me. I think it is a nice car to get and it will save you a lot on gas.
