Pros: Great looks, comfort, safety features, dealer is very friendly. Cons: Not a dependable or enjoyable vehicle to drive. (My first year and 13,000 mile experience) The Bottom Line: If you need dependable reliable primary transportation, I would look elsewhere.
I will start by saying that I really wanted to like this vehicle. I loved the appearance, design, and features but after a year of driving, the vehicle has been a let down. The most recent event involves the vehicle losing power on hills and will not ...

Pros: Genuine multi-purpose SUV, safe, green (ULEV-rated), most comfortable seating of any class. Cons: None. The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for any car enthusiast looking for utility, reliability & safety.
And for good reason. This is a premium, off-road car recognized by every auto journal (including Top Gear for two consecutive years) and AAA. The XC90 has won over 50 international awards, including those for being the safest SUV. I purchased this ...

Pros: Ride quality and power, when it runs. Cons: No reliability, poor interior ergonometrics The Bottom Line: Stay away unless you like waiting for tow trucks
The Volvo dealer would not even buy our fully loaded 2005 XC90 T6, that is what a piece of junk the XC90s are and Volvo knows it! We have 6 cars including Ferraris, Hondas, Jeeps, Pontiacs. Volvo buyer beware, the only thing good about the XC90 is ...

A Great SUV and a Great Buy

Pros: Safety, Comfort, Drive Cons: Mileage (17.8 mpg)
The Volvo XC90 trumps all SUV's for simple reasons. First, it is the safest SUV around. Second, it holds its value better than any other SUV on the market. Next, it has a great drive (even in the base model, the acceleration is great). In addition, it is an extremely comfortable car. Passengers have commented to me on how comfortable it is as opposed to other SUv's. When properly pimped out, this car looks extremely nice (wood interior and the proper colors).
Also, The car I bought had a MSRP of $41,820 and I was able to find it for $39,750 (this is in Northern New Jersey). When you look enough, you will be able to find some discount, but some dealers will not give you more than $500 off.

Love it. What is there not to love? Safety that is why we bought this car. It has a lot of balls.... you will enjoy the ride whether it be a quick trip to the market or a long trip to FL from ME... if you can afford it... get it!

Disappointed in Volvo XC90

Pros: Nice styling, very comfortable. We have the 7-seater, nice for loads of kids. Cons: Worry about safety with excessive tire wear problem. Not enough leg-room in back.
The Volvo XC90 is a nice comfortable car but after 20,000 miles we had major problems with the brakes and excessive tire wear. Volvo dealership in Sacramento said they couldn't explain it as tire pressure and alignment were okay. However, do a search on XC90 and tire wear and you'll see it's a common problem. We've also had issues with the rotors and brakes. The time between servicing is longer than most cars, which I thought was a good thing. However, while the engine may not need servicing as often, things like the brakes do. I would recommend going in more often just for safety and less problems down the road, even if you have to pay for them. I love the comfort of the car and I had thought it was safe for our family, which was my main reason for buying it. Now I think I'll look elsewhere. Just putting on new tires now so before the next 15-20,000 miles I think we'll be in the market for something safer and more reliable.

Pros: Good space, decent ride Cons: Poor fuel economy
Only owned the vehicle for a year, replaced with Volvo S40.
Big and roomy with a decent ride.
A12: Playful banter
Interior materials are ok.
Fuel mileage is terrible. Fuel gage was always on E!
B12: At the park bridge, we had some remorse
Like the dash and layout.
Could use more legroom in the front.
Not a bad vehicle except for the fuel economy
