Pros: Stainless steel, 3 independent burners, even cooking heat with no flare-ups. Cons: Heavy, tough to move and transport
I cook out 12 months of the year... even if I have to clear off several feet of snow... and got every penny out of our 12 year old Sears dinosaur. This spring I decided to treat myself and pick out my own birthday gift, it was the Char-Broil ...
I preface this review with a caution-I am not only new to gas grilling, I have been, until now, a charcoal fan and considered gas grilling to be a joke. Granted, I have never been an active griller, so much of my viewpoint was based on stereotyping. ...
Initially I was very attracted to this grill based on appearance, price point and the previous good luck I have had with Char-Broil grills. However, the quality issues I will note shortly make this a very regrettable purchase. The brass burners are a ...
Pros: Solid construction. Cast iron grills. Side burner. Stainless steel parts. Cons: Heavy and hard for one person to move.
I've had many many grills over my 60 years of life. OK, there weren't any on the first 21 years of life, but I have had quite a few. The Charbroil Commercial Series was a Father's Day present this year and I immediately fell in love with it. It's got ...
Pros: It's not total carp. Cons: Too many to list in 15 words!!!
I liked the way the grill looked, and it evinces all the necessary features, but in operation it falls flat. There were to critical problems out of the box:First the middle burner knob failed out of the box. It turns out that it had a ...
Pros: I have not found it yet. Cons: Plastic knobs, Poor made Burners, Regulators, Construction. False Warranty. Crappy Customer Service.
We bought this thing in June 06. Second time using, all but 1 plastic knob stripped off while turning it off. Went to Lowe's, they only sell it, forget any type of actual service. Called Char-Broil, no help there either, said there was no problems with ...
Pros: Looks good Cons: It is a misrepresented product.
I purchased a Char-Broil grill (#463268706) with natural gas capability. I found Char-Broil Commercial series being sold as "Dual System", i.e., propane and natural gas with a "conversion kit". This feature was promoted by the sales people and advertised ...
Pros: gets the job done, day in and day out. Nice heat contol when new Cons: short life span of grate, rusty screws and other hardware.
I have the Char-Broil Commercial Series model 463240904 purchased exactly three years ago for Father's day at Lowes. Mine has three brass burners, 40,000 btu ratings, 10,000 side burner. Mine is all stainless steel on the exterior. (none of the black ...
For 30+ years I have had 3 different gas grills mounted in my three backyards. When my last one had to be replaced this spring, I decided on the part-stainless Charbroil grill. I was impressed with the $299 price from Lowe's, but am not impressed with the rust already accumulating all over the grill, even on the stainless top. I keep under my porch with a cover and the steel casters have already rusted. The other black painted steel components are rusting really badly between the joints; and I've only had it a few months. I have called Charbroil and they have been really good about sending replacement parts, but I'm not so sure that I won't return it to Lowe's and get a credit to my card, since I purchased it on their promotional credit (no interest or payment for 12 months).I want a grill that will last with very little or no rust.
Pros: The grill was great. I used it about 3 times a week. Cons: IT DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE. $500 TO GRILL OUT FOR 6 MONTHS !
I have had my new grill for several months. It worked great until recently. The last time I tried to switch out the empty tank for a full one I found that it will not work with the new tank. All of the tanks have been changed. There are several new grills for sale with a different connector on them that is compatible with the new tank. The store was not aware of the change and they are selling new grills, some with the new connector and many with the old style that will not work.I think Char-Broil should provide the replacement part at no charge.
Great grill with great features by twaltemade ,Apr 20 '04
Pros: Brass burners, stainless cooking surface, full stainless exterior Cons: Advertising stickers on the grill took over 1 hour to remove
I just replaced my Weber with this grill and I am very impressed. I bought the one at Lowes, which offered brass burners with a lifetime warranty, a brass side burner, and stainless cooking surface. Best of all, it only cost $399 ($250 less than a comparable Jenn Aire)
I've never considered Char Broil to be a quality product...I guess they are trying to change their image. This product really impressed me, from the quality of the components to the easy installation. A very well done grill that you should consider if you are looking to upgrade.
Pros: Brass burners -- nothing else really comes to mind! Cons: Poor construction and quality leads to major rusting problems.
Last spring it was finally time to replace my $100 Walmart special that we'd had for nearly 10 years. After much research we decided on this Char-Broil. Like other reviewers, the price at Lowe's was the deciding factor.
Brought it home in March -- by the 4th of July it was covered in rust and the stainless steel lid was covered in stains that couldn't be removed. This despite the fact that the BBQ was covered with a top-of-the-line Char-Broil cover (more on that in a moment)
It took a few calls to Char-Broil's customer service people, but they eventually shipped me replacement parts (almost a complete BBQ!) I replaced all the rusted parts, but it's now December, and the rust is back!
As for the cover, after the first cold night (not below freezing) the cover turned as hard as a rock, and split where it contacted the corners of the grill table.
Takes months to get warranty part by rickbateman ,Jul 01 '08
Pros: Worked great for 4 months. Cons: Stainless steel? Started rusting within a month!!
They offer great warranties, but fail to honor them. I've been waiting over a month for rusted out part. They say it may be several more months to get it because they have many warranty returns. Duh! It's a piece of junk. Char Broil has the worst warranty department I've ever seen!!
Pros: Even Heating, large grill area. Cons: None so far.
I bought the largest commercial Char-Broil that Lowe's carries. I've had great luck and absolutely no problems. I haven't used it as much as I'd like because of the weather, but I also purchased the largest and best cover they carry ($65). It was definitely a smart move. It's waterproof, and I have absolutely NO rust issues.
It gets hot quickly and evenly, and does a good job overall. It's huge, so you're not going to be moving it around much, which is fine for me. It'll stay where it's at on my back patio.
I've never owned a Char-Broil before. I wanted a Weber, but wasn't going to pay $1700 for a grill. I have a Weber kettle grill for charcoal, and a large steel smoker for slow cooking (I'm a serious cook). This one definitely works for me.
Poor Grill and Very Poor Customer Service by chgoetz2 ,May 15 '08
Pros: NONE- buyer beware lousy product with poor customer service. Cons: spend the extra money buy Fire Magic 100% lifetime warranty no hassle.
I purchased this Char-Broil model 463240904 for two reasons. It was inexpensive and made of stainless steel. I learned that all stainless steel is not alike. The grill has rust on the complete exterior. I contacted customer service and all I got was lip service. They stainless steel warranty in the product guide is for 99 years but doesn't state what the warranty covers. In dealing with the customer service department they stated surface rust is common and that I should use a stainless steel cleaner. The product guide says I should use water and a mild soap. I think they make up the rules as they go along. I thought that was why I bought stainless steel. It is obvious that Char-broil did nothing to satisfy my complaint.
