Pros: It reads my data with no noticeable latency problems. And its still alive! Cons: Rumored to die quickly. Rumored to be fragile. Sleeps a lot requiring slow wakeup.
I've had my drive since December 23rd, 2003. I use it mostly with Pro Tools audio production software. The drive has been extremely reliable for me to date with no problems... yet. After I purchased my drive and returned back to my school. I ...
Pros: Beautiful drive, fast transfers, durable and small enough to tote around. Cons: Haven't had any yet! It's been everything I hoped!

Pros: Sleek design, Cool blue light. Cons: Power cord location should be on the bottom.
My decision to purchase the LaCie d2 Firewire drive was purely emotional. I was visiting a dedicated Mac fan who was showing off his nifty office setup and his collection of Macintoshes when I was struck with a serious case of MacEnvy. As all PC ...
Pros: Quiet, fast, beautiful, reasonable price Cons: Hard to find in brick and mortar stores.
Great drive. I've had the Lacie D2 drive for almost five years and am very happy with it. Plain English Specs: This is an external Firewire Hard Drive that holds 120 GB of data. External means that its not inside your computer. Firewire ...
Pros: Lots of room on this drive. I only used a maximum of 40G data. Cons: Extremely unstable, and noisy machine.
I bought my drive in February, 2003. over the course of the one year warranty, I had it in for "repairs" 3 times for an excessive whirring noise and scary error messages on screen stating data may have been lost. Lacie tech looked at the drive the first two times and (surprise, surprise) found no issues with the drive. The third time in they replaced the hard drive or disk- whatever. Since replacing the 'disk' in January 2004, I hadn't had any problems until 2 weeks ago when the drive failed to mount after the very same whirring noise I had complained about the year before. Minimal data had been lost, but of course, now no longer under warranty. I managed to restore almost all of the data, but the drive still makes the noise.
In the past, I had used the drive daily as an extension to my Mac for data storage and extra scratch space.
I won't be using it as a main source of data storage any longer, and I am very doubtful that I would purchase a Lacie in the future. Truly disappointing.
