Pros: Cuisinart quality with retro chic styling Cons: Cord Storage was not readily apparent.
The one small kitchen appliance that withstood the test of time in my house was my Cuisinart Toaster I received as a wedding present 12 years ago. However, when the remodeling was done on my kitchen last spring I decided it must go as it simply didn't go ...
Pros: Two-inch wide slot; cord storage; slide out crumb tray Cons: Crumbs burn onto interior surfaces; possible fire hazard
Avoid The Cuisinart® Heat SurroundTM Toaster
Choosing a toaster, or anything else, is no “run in the store and grab” experience for me. The research I put into each purchase decision should result in owning only the best of products...
Pros: great dual features, easy to clean and it works! Cons: no cons
Before I begin my review, I need to share with you a conversation that took place in my kitchen a few mornings ago and another that took place one day later. Day One: The scenario: a conversation between my husband and me. Husband: ...
Pros: Nice design, love the extra wide slots Cons: It doesn't work
I'm not sure anyone can build a toaster any more. I had a two slot cheap Wal-Mart toaster which actually did a good job, but I have a large family and we decided to save a little time in our busy morning and invest, yes, invest in a four slot toaster. ...
Pros: W I D E slot, looks nice Cons: Extremely flaky performance
Dear hubby rolls out of bed in the morning, and wanders into the kitchen to toast a bagel and make some coffee. Seconds later, the house is filled with the aroma of... huh? Burning bread?
Our toaster was just too narrow. It was a Proctor Silex...
Pros: wide slot perfect for bagels and thick bread Cons: doesn't produce consistent results
We've had this toaster for about 4 years and it has been reliable, but it is not as great as I'd hoped it would be. We'd registered for this model and received it as a wedding gift, so it did not cost us any money.
My mother picked out this toaster for us to give her a few XMAS's ago. I decided it would also be a perfect gift for my wife. I remember paying $50 or $60 for the toaster. (A far sight more than I usually paid for a toaster.) The toaster is a stylish...
Pros: Will hold almost any slice of bread, No push button controls Cons: Toast is not always toasted evenly, Results are not consistent, Fairly expensive
The day my roaster died I decided I would not buy another $14.99 model. I had gone through 3 of those in 6 years. So I went to the store looking for a quality toaster. I was also looking for a wide slot because I like to make bagels.
When I...
Pros: An attractive appliance Cons: This toaster's motto is: Burn, baby, burn
Our 19 year old Hamilton Beach toaster finally gave up the ghost, and we had a gift card to an appliance store which featured Cuisinart toasters, so we plunked down 79 bucks and took the plunge. I assumed the Cuisinart reputation would be upheld; after ...
Pros: Looks good, powerful, makes good toast when new, 3 year warranty Cons: Not durable.
We bought this toaster because of its 3 year warranty, high power for a 4 slice, dual controls and previous good experience with Cuisinart products. Also we were tired of buying toasters every year or so. We have been through the gamut of dirt cheap to ...
I bought this toaster mostly because of a name that I used to associate with high quality. Now everytime I see one I think crapinart. We had this toaster for barely 2 years and use it for about three toastings a week. By the time this junk broke, I...
Pros: Easy to clean
Reliable so far Cons: A bit inconsistent from side to side, but only minor
Toasters are not considered exciting kitchen appliances although a few songs have been written about toast. Our $5 two-slice toaster served us well for many years, but energetic kids finally broke the handle off making it useless. So I went on a hunt at ...
Pros: Nice look if you like the stainless steel stuff. Cons: Lots - basically, don't waste your money.
My husband and I got this toaster for a wedding gift 3 and half years ago. Maybe I'm naive to think that a toaster should last more than 3 and a half years since we didn't even use it every day, but then again, why am I surprised since almost everything ...
Pros: Great toast every time Cons: Shame we had to try twice
Cuisinart makes a very good product that worked fairly well the first time, but absolutely great the second time. The first unit we had was better than others' toasters that we have had, but not always uniform in toasting quality. Then it decided to...
Pros: Wide mouth, slender design for skinny spaces Cons: crumb tray, hot spots esp. w/ bagels
My husband and I were so impressed 4 years ago with this toaster at first sight that we immediately put it on our wedding registry. But as time has passed we have found some imperfections with our perfect little everything toaster.
Pros: Looks nice, does 4 peaces at a time! Cons: Does not stay clean.
My roommate had this toaster when i first moved into the house! Her family gave it to her for her senior graduation! All of us girls where just so amazed that she had a 4 in one toaster! We where just so excited! I really think that this toaster is ...
Our Cuisinart CPt30 toaster lasted 18 months. One side of the unit burned out. The company offered to replace the unit for shipping the old unit back to them and sending them a check for $7 for them to send us a new unit.
Pros: Sleek Design, when turned on it's side it reheats your pizza slices perfectly! Cons: Cannot leave your toast in it unattended. It will come out warm or near black.
Undercooks or burns toast!! Good looking but brainless... it reminds me of my ex wife. If you start a piece of toast on 4 it pops up just a bit hot but not at all browned. Then if you push it down again it turnes the toast to ashes. If you choose...
Pros: Very attractive countertop appliance. Cons: Doesn't work very well.
I really wanted a good-looking stainless steel toaster that worked properly. Our old one was very fickle; set too low it wouldn't brown; set too high and you'd have homemade charcoal. After some online research, I started homing in on this Cuisinart. ...
I have not been happy with this toaster for toasting bread (I haven't tried bagels yet). It has two long, 1/4 inch diameter cylinder shaped, horizontal positioned, heating elements - one on each side. Each element has "hot spots" at each end. The...
Pros: Nice design. Looks great Cons: Design and Looks can't overcome the fact that it doesn't work.
We bought this toaster after we returned another Cuisinart toaster that was toasting unevenly. Well this more expensive model did exactly the same thing - toasted on one side and slightly warm on the other. Seems to be a common theme with Cuisinart toasters. Steer clear - unless of course you like unevenly toasted bread.
Pros: It toasted okay for the first few years. Nothing to write home about. Cons: It is in no way built to last. Consider it a disposable.
Ok, I've had this toaster for years - I'd say at least 5 years - and it is on its last legs. It barely heats anymore, but even in its heyday, it was nothing more than a cheap toaster. I thought the Cuisinart name might mean something even on the lower end, but all it means is you get what you pay for. For the price, it was an okay toaster, but it is what it is - a cheap, disposable toaster.
Please note that I had to guess at the price - I have no idea what I paid for this, but epinions requires you put in a dollar amount.
Toasts as nicely as it looks! by artistamy ,Feb 24 '06
Pros: Very stylish, toasts great! Cons: None
I have never had to buy a toaster, so when my gift toaster finally started to burn anything within reach, I knew it was time! After looking around, I decided on the Cuisinart CPT-180. Okay, I admit, I am a sucker for a pretty appliance, but this toaster really toasts everything well! I have been using it daily for a couple of weeks with everything from English muffins to bagels, and it toasts them all to perfection--when it is adjusted right. I have burned something, but it was because I had it at too high of a setting.
This beautiful toaster packs a lot of features--4 extra-wide slots, bagel, reheat, defrost and cancel buttons with LED indicators, and knobs for adjusting toasting levels. All wrapped in a lovely, brushed stainless body.
So, I have experienced great toasting while having a counter-worthy appliance to boot. Definately worth the purchase price of $80.
Looks nice - but does it work? by mcclelj ,Dec 26 '07
Pros: Nice Looks, Toasted Quickly Cons: Toasted Unevenly, Awful smell out of the box.
I got this for Christmas after expressing my desire for a four slice toaster. I quickly checked the reviews on epinions and then decided to try it out myself because they seems somewhat contradictory. I agree with one reviewer that some of the reviews seem like they were written by the manufacturer.
The first thing I noticed once out of the box was that it looks nicer than it does on the box picture. The second thing was the smell, which got almost unbearable when I turned it on. Unlike one of the other reviews, I noted that the elements do NOT all turn on evenly. The inside ones are noticeably less bright than the outside ones.
The results were confirmed the observations - one side of the toast was darker than the otherside, one of my pet peeves about toasters. And, even though it was set on 2.5 (out of six) I had to pop the toast to avoid it burning black.
I think we will try a different toaster, one will better reviews.
Toasting Has Never Been So Much Fun by ewamom ,Jun 03 '07
Pros: Fast and it works. Cons: Spring seems weak so the toast dose not pop up high
We bought this toaster about four months ago and love it. The toaster replaced one that was just a two slicer and just was not keeping up with the family toasting needs so it had to go. The toast seem to come out alright by are standards but comparing this to what we had in the past is night and day. The only draw back I can find it the spring that pushes the toast up when down does not seem strong enough so you need to keep an eye on the toaster to tell when it is down. That was one thing about our old toaster you good hear it click and the toast would fly out of the thing. I would buy this product again.
Pros: Makes nice toast Cons: Light duty construction
We liked this toaster it did a nice job but at the end of two weeks it went pop and it was over. Otherwise nice toaster, we got ours at Sams Club for $50.00.
Pros: Looks like a capable toaster. Cons: Doesn't work. Won't brown on one side out of 4.
We're just about to return our second Cuisinart toaster, and we're sorry that that brand is losing our business. I'm so saddened that our GE 25-year-old toaster finally bit the dust; that worked perfectly for all this time. We gave up on a recent Black and Decker toaster, and my in-laws had a kitchen aid toaster that died after just a year or so. The quality of all recent toasters is bad, prompting "we can put a man on the moon, but we can't build a decent toaster?" Maybe since the last time we put a man on the moon was back in the sixties and early 70s, our toaster design was best then, too? Seems like it.
This was supposed to be the toaster to end all toasters.
We had it for about 2.5 years, and now the toast brown on only one side. The outer heating elements still work. The inner elements work at about 1/3 capacity of the outer ones. We now turn our toast around after a couple minutes to cook the other side. Until we find the next toaster to end all toasters. This one was not it!!
Good Looking Art Deco Design But.... by bostonfirelt ,Dec 21 '09
Pros: Good looking, art deco design, pop up feature to retrieve smaller toasting items. Cons: Inconsistent toasting levels. No difference with the bagel toasting setting.
We've had this toaster for 4+ years. I bought it mainly for the looks, not having any prior experience with Cuisinart. It does a decent job but it doesn't toast consistently from one use to the next. The bagel button offers no apparent difference in toasting levels from the regular 'bread' settings. The toast level knobs rotate too easily, adding to the toast level differences.
Don't be like me and buy this product thinking it can't be that bad.....it is! It toasts one side of the bread while not toasting the other side at all. I'm about to waste more expensive gas by returning this pricey piece of junk to the store and once again get out my 25 year GE toaster (thank god I didn't throw it away) which does a better job of toasting than this one does.
Tired of this thing making lousy toast by spengo ,Nov 29 '06
Pros: Attractive Cons: Makes lousy toast
I'm fairly certain that some of the reviews posted for products are written by marketing people for the company that makes the subject of the review. I'm not.
About the only thing this toaster does well is sit on the counter and look attractive.
It makes unevenly toasted bread. So, I guess it's not much use as a toaster.
Not any better than a $10 toaster....... by c1263 ,Aug 11 '09
Pros: Nice looks fast easy to use Cons: stinks of burning oil
Uneven toasting
Build something correctly and help save earth !!!!
For the price and the cuisinart name I was expecting a quick evenly toasted toast. Well it was fairly quick but, each side of the 4 bread where differently toasted. One thing about the design I noticed is the elements they use are straight , my old one had /\/\/\/\/\/\/\ type elements which give a greater heating area and evenly toasted bread. Also the straight wires are too close to the "backboard" so they don't get red hot all along the wire. Welp when I really want A GREAT piece of toast I grab my trusty seasoned black iron frying pan and heat er up then place a pre buttered slice of bread in there and flip it over and do the other side.....in other words ...Heaven !
Pros: The chrome is nice. The slots hold a bagel. Cons: It doesn't work.
I received this toaster as a Christmas gift from my sweet husband because I asked for a nice toaster. He couldn't believe the price, but he knew Cuisinart usually has reliable products. This isn't one of them. It always burns bread on one side and barely warms the other. We've tried bread, english muffins, bagels, Pop Tarts - everything turns out the same way.
After reading another review of this toaster, it seems that Cuisinart has some serious problems with this product.
That review sounded quite familiar. Stay away from this toaster.
Cuisinart CPT-180 metal 4 slice toaster is a lemon. by smapsucello69 ,Dec 06 '08
Pros: The brushed stainless steel metal exterior is attractive and medium size. Cons: Toasting is extremely uneven....dark on one side, very light on the other.
We were excited to have this attractive, somewhat retro, brushed stainless steel toaster, at last ! It wasn t oversized and promised wide slots for bagels, which are there, easy cleaning etc. It did NOT promise evenly toasted sides of the bread and indeed, it is greatly deficient in that area. We get one side dark and the other side "bread". No matter how we try to set the "darkness" it never works out. This toaster will be returned to the store ASAP. My Proctor Silex, now 15 years old STILL does a better job at evenly toasting bread. I would not recommend purchasing this toaster for any reason, other than for it's ease of cleaning. The cord storage was basically non existant . One expects high quality products from Cusinart but this one fell through the cracks and needs to be redesigned to toast bread properly, each side evenly browned. The buttons are handy and reheat is a good feature but it didn t work properly.
I don't have this toaster, but bought a cuisnart toaster a few years back, and had the Phenolic handle break, and the internal mechanism jam. It was thin with 2 by 2 slots, not 4 in a row
