Cons: red eye issues, minor image softness, rechargeable batteries and charger not included

Pros: manual settings, many shooting modes, optical zoom, picture quality Cons: 2MP, fuziness of edges, particularly in landscapes, many modes and buttons can get confusing

Pros: Durable durable durable, inexpensive, solid performer Cons: Last minute notice on the low battery warning

Pros: Similar to the A70 but with less resolution Cons: Bad (very bad) Experience with Canon Warranty Service
I pasted the text of this review from my review of the Canon A70, since the camera is very similar. About the only difference is the color of the grip and the maximum resolution available, as the A60 does not have the same capability in that area. ...
Pros: - inexpensive
- AA batteries

- small zoom
My 3rd (of 4) Canon. My first camera was a Canon TX, a basic SLR film camera. I had a lot of fun with it in school (25 years ago!) and it took great pictures. Many years later, I replaced it with a Canon Rebel SLR film camera. Again, I had a lot of ...
Pros: Price, Features, Picture Quality, Movie Mode w/ sound, Ease of use Cons: Shutter Speed, 2.0 Mega Pixels, 4 AA Batteries (get rechargies)

Pros: Features, price/value, battery life, takes excellent pictures. Cons: Some have experienced jammed lens assemblies.
I'll admit it. I'm a feature junkie. A button pusher. I like to be able to tweak things to do what I want them to, and I strongly dislike being forced to accept the default settings. Many digital cameras (and the companies that produce them, ...
Those of us who do what we think of as "serious" photography often find ourselves caught up in the quest for more and more megapixels. Is 4 enough? 5? 12? Certainly if you're trying to produce exhibition-quality 8x10s and 11x14s you need as many pixels ...

Needing to retire my personal Nikon 2000 coolpix after 2 years of service and 60,000 pictures, I went shopping. I wanted a 2.0 megapixel camera as it is best suited for the types of pictures that I want. I could not find anything less than a 3.2 ...
Pros: image quality, ease of use, canon, AAs Cons: apparently is not built to last, not USB 2.0, shutter lag

Pros: Good product Cons: until it breaks prematurely, then you get sodomized.

Pros: Clear photos. Decent optical zoom. Price. Retractable lens. Compact size. Cons: Required warranty repair with very little use. Poor red eye reduction. Poor reliability. Plastic casing.
I purchased the Canon Powershot A60 through Dell's online purchase because they had a sale that made the camera less to purchase online then in any store. The 2.0 megapixel A60 has a 3X optical and 2.5X digital zoom giving a combined zoom of 7.5X. ...
Pros: Price, Quality of Pictures, Ease of Use Cons: Battery Power

Pros: All the features of the more expensive cameras, without the price Cons: 2 MP
***update*** I've had the S45 for almost two years and the A60 for almost a year. They are both great. They work almost identically, but the standout now is that the A60 lasts forever on it's rechargable AA batteries. It seems like our S45 always has a ...
Pros: Great pics in good lighting, decent low light pics, manual mode, great price Cons: Kept breaking on me, build quality not very good, pics a little soft

Pros: Easy to use, good pictures for 2MP, AA batteries. Cons: Too many features for a 2MP, 4xAA's makes it pretty heavy.
I bought mine online on sale for $200 Canadian over 2 years ago. In the time I've owned it, I've taken thousands of pictures in all climates on one pair of 2100 mih NiMd rechargeable batteries that I got at Radio Shack for about $50 with a Quick Charger. ...
Pros: Dependable, comfortable to hold, links to some Canon printers. Cons: Larger than others, requires protection when carrying.

Pros: Nice pictures
Good Optics Cons: Menu use

Love the new "Scene Modes"
Well constructed and built

Pros: Battery life is outstanding. Body is metal and solid. Cons: Camera lens cover wimpy, and the on/off button is slow to act.

Pros: Low Price, fantastic quality of image, easy to use, lots of options Cons: None so far, really !
This is a fantastic camera. I just bought this one a few weeks ago and already I can master most of its option. This camera has 12 scene assist, a great video mode, a 3X optical focus and a 7.5 digital focus (combined with the 3X).
Pros: Not bad picture quality. Easy to use. Cons: Has too slow a shutter drag. A debilitating 'error' e18, renders your camera useless.
This camera was a gift to me for my birthday in March 2004. At that time it was considered to be one of the smartest purchases you could make for a digital camera. It cost us $400.00 cdn. I was more or less happy with it. It took okay pictures, ...
Pros: Design.Ease of use. Cons: The zoom ring is not well-fit - has a certain play. Some red-eye problems.
The selling price here in Greece is 388 Euro(including VAT). Guess what, I have already bought it, then I discovered how much it costs elsewhere. But, for me, it is worth even this amount of money. The 1600x1200 maximum analysis seems inadequate for big...

You're Gonna Miss the Good Shots... by sweetbsmom ,Jan 04 '07
Pros: Price, ease of use Cons: Slow and a bit heavy
All in all, this is a good little camera for the money. It makes clear pics and is easy to use - fully automatic for the beginner. It feels a bit heavy with 4 AA's. My only gripe with this camera has been that I've missed sooo many great photo opps of my baby and toddler. This camera is just too slow to catch a moving child. If the subject is still though, the pics come out nice and clear with good color.
Pros: Easy to use and takes great pictures! Cons: Easily damaged when dropped
I originally had the A20 and loved it so I picked out the A60 last year and I am so glad I did! Very easy to use and takes great pictures (for a 2MP camera). I plan on buying a newer version when I out grow this camera.
My only complaint was that when dropped and the zoom is out the camera no longer worked. it would not retract and could no longer take photos. I had a friend fix it luckily. He also said it was a good camera from the looks of it when he pulled it apart. As far as it no longer working, I don't expect a camera to do too well after a fall.
Pros: easy to use, great zoom, video option Cons: if you don't hold it steady enough the images may be blurry (unless on speed)
I got this digital camera in July 2003 and I have used it So much. I'm surprised how good this camera is (considering it's only 2 megapixels). It has many different settings such as nighttime, speed (great for athletic events), and panoramic view. You can also take videos with the camera which I have used a lot during concerts I go it. The digital zoom is also excellent. I was surprised at how much this camera can zoom. I would definitely recommend this camera to my friends.
The Little Camera that could by liz1944 ,Nov 12 '03
Pros: Lots of lighting settings. easy figure out controls. allows for short movies with sound. Cons: Takes lots of batteries. 4 AA used quick when viewing LCD
Looking for a mid priced digital camera with more bells and whistles than most on the market. This camera is great. One of the few that can go to a Manual that lets you choose your own F-stops and can light meter based on one small area of the picture. SO you can shoot a sunset and not have the foreground totally black. beautiful
Good size camera. Not so big that you feel like you're lugging around the old full size camcorders but not so small that there's no where to put your fingers. nice balance.
Pros: GOOD:Absolutely customizable interface for advanced users and totally automatic for beginners. Cons: BAD:16 mb Compact Flash Card
I've buyed this camera months ago, this " little toy " is better than i thought, principally in fast scenes using ISO 400 and night shots.
This camera has the most quality sensor, lens, color, speed and price of category
At your own risk buy Canon by lowdown100 ,Dec 17 '04
Pros: As far as Canon is concerned your good will counts for nothing Cons: The product doesn't last very long, If you have money to burn go ahead
Never buy Canon, They could care less if you have a problem, Amazing with all the money they spend on advertising how little they care if you have any problem
Buyer beware,,,A lot of money for a camera which may last more than a year
Pros: -Great pictures for less price.
-Easy to use but still has advanced features Cons: -Same old problems with any digital camera, slow shutter speed and average night pictures.
This camera is worth its value. Its easy to use and still has loads of features to play around. I bought it for my parents and they love it. Takes great photos.
It can also record few seconds of MPEG video(with audio).
It uses Compact Flash memory and comes with USB transfer cable.
For batteries I would highly recommend Monster or Kodak NiMh models.
I have tried Sony and Nikon cameras in this price range, this camera is surely the best.
Pros: easy
good images Cons: pricy reparations
you cant use it as a webcam
It's easy to use.
Good picture quality, images could be a litle sharper, but you can fix that a bit with pc-software.
What i didn't like was that it just stoped working from one moment till the other while i was taking pictures. I went back to the store and they say it costs 130 euros to send it back to the factory. and it wil take at least 6 weeks before i 'll get it back.
Some how it looks to me as if it was made to breake down just after the garantee period expires. I think it's a crime that they can give a 1jear garantee on a product that should last at least 5 jears.
OK camera--until it broke, a real loser by dauerbach ,Nov 01 '03
Pros: Price, power source Cons: Totally unreliable, junk, not a lemon.
I bought this camera for my son who was taking a semester abroad. It was purchased based on the reputation of Canon as an film camera company, a reasonable price, and the fact it is powered by AA batteries. It worked reasonably well for the two months it did work, although lag time from shutter depression to image capture was a little long. Then this essentially new camera stopped working, displaying what research has shown is probably an error brought on by a camera defect, e18. Customer support was polite, but worthless, they will not allow him to trade this two month old camera for a new one, and service can only be performed in the US. Given the pervasiveness of the e18 error, this is very narrow minded on Canon's part. I for one, will never purchase another product from this company.
Great budget digital camera by solistide ,Jun 16 '05
Pros: Uses AA batteries, relatively sturdy, long-lasting, can withstand high temperatures in car. Cons: Heavy, puzzling snapshot delays (shots cannot be taken instantaneously, even in Fast mode)
An all-around great entry-level digital camera. I've had it for several years and still use it fairly often; it still works great. I have dropped it once, but to no ill-effect. What a great camera!
Excellent upgrade from the Canon A40; great digital camera for the beginner. by rinalarabie ,Sep 06 '03
Pros: Reliable, versatile & lots of additional features. Great camera for the beginner. Cons: Takes a while to get familiar with all the functions: keep the manual handy.
We own an A40 and a friend wanted one but chose the A60 instead. We had the opportunity to test it and found it surpasses the A40 in many ways. It has a very good lens for a 35 mm camera and the interface was actually improved over the A40. We took some night shots that were amazing and the special effects aren't limited to just time exposure. This is an easy "point and shoot" camera and after being dropped (on grass) twice, it was still functioning fine. We did notice that the viewing lens can scratch easily but that doesn't affect the photos. Short movies with sound are an added bonus and we use the macro a lot for very sharp closeups. A reliable auto control or use manual settings for greater flexiblity. Very good placement of the hand grip and a centered tripod hole. This is an all round excellent camera once you get used to all the features.
This is my first digital camera, and so far I'm pleased. by traceyg ,Apr 22 '04
Pros: Easy to use; price; nice variety of special features Cons: Shutter delay
I didn't want to spend more than $200 dollars for my first digital camera and a friend of mine mentioned that he had purchased the A60 for $200 so my research on this camera began. Although my friend didn't learn of epinions before making his purchase, he told me about this site and I'm so glad that he did. I was able to read several reviews both good and bad and make an informed decision. I was also able to get this camera for an excellent price. I'm not that familiar as of yet with the camera because I just got it yesterday, but so far, it has been very easy to use and I am looking forward to learning how to use more of the special features that it offers. I think this camera is going to suit my family just fine and I am extremely pleased with the ease of understanding the manual that it came with. This is a great entry level camera and I am so glad that I purchased it.
Pros: Easy to use. Lightweight. Self explanatory. Easy battery installation and uncomplicated accesseries. Cons: I would say its impossible to learn everything in one day.
Excellent design, small hand held camera who'se main weight are the 4 AA batteries. Comfortable to hold, secure with wrist strap.
Waterproof casing for those splashes near water. Note: do not submerge in water just because the casing is waterproofed.
i have had the A60 for 13 months. wouldnt you know it, just after the warranty the camera came up with the e18 error. apparently this is very common. customer service unhelpful. i should have went with the nikon products.
Pros: very good optics and picture quality Cons: Terrible construction and quality of body casing.
WARNING this camera will break very easily. I droped it only 1.5 feet to the carpeted ground and now it will not focus or retract all the way. I dropped it while it was on and the lens open, so I'm fairly sure the zoom lens came off track. I've sent it to cannon's repair center and thier estimated cost to repair is $114. Obviously I have no interest in fixing it at that price considering I only paid 65$ more new.
Admitedly the camera did take excellent pictures while it was working, I would recomend it if you plan to be very carefull with it.
All I can say is AWESOME by acraftychic ,Nov 19 '04
Pros: Durable, loads of features, clear pictures, assisted focus, battery life Cons: A little heavy, feature doesn't remove red-eye like it says
I couldn't have picked a better camera for our needs. We are a family of 4 with a new baby, so lots of pictures are needed to send to the grandparents out of state. Their favorites are the little videos, sometimes up to 30 sec or more if you have enough room on the memory stick. Pictures print out clear as day and this camera is so durable (my daughter has dropped it a few times, not even a ding). It's a little on the heavy side, but it fits in your hand so well when taking that snapshot. Lots of features including a panoramic shot!!! I highly suggest this camera for families and people who love pictures, but don't need 8x10's. Great battery life! We take TONS of pictures and videos and I change my batteries once a month. Suggestions, get Energizer rechargeable, it will save you a lot of money and they last forever!
Pros: Battery Life is great. Cons: Error E18 renders camera useless.
Due to the E18 error that renders the camera useless (I had a Canon Powershot A70) it is hard to understand that a brand like Canon does nothing (and allows it). Bye Canon.
