Pros: Powerful, cleans deeply. Beautiful finish and color. Well-made. Cons: Exhaust air sometimes blows into your face.
We recently moved, and left behind a central vacuum system. The new house doesn't have one, so my wife began talking about retro-fitting a central vacuum system. She missed the powerful cleaning and filtering (waste air goes outside) of a central ...
Pros: Excellent suction, bags hold anything, literally whisper quiet, can have a second life. Cons: Poorly made extension wands, some supplies are expensive. $450-$500.
When our Dirt Devil Swivel Glide decided to try and run without its handle, we said,"That is it! Forget this, we are going to Lowe's!!!" at Lowe's we were getting tired of buying cheap pieces of plastic that only lasted anywhere from 3 weeks to 10 ...
Pros: Nice styling. Snappy red color and sleek body design. Cons: Extremely cheap materials and shoddy engineering!
I bought this vac when they first hit the market because of my allergies to dust. I paid over $500 for it at a Sears store. My mother had had an Electrolux canister vac since her wedding day which we used while growing up. The thing had sled ...
Pros: The rug attachment works well until the power through the handle and hose fails. Cons: Very poor suction with the regular floor attachment on.
I'll bet you'll find mention about this product on SCAM.com. This is NOT the reliable product your mom used. Everything about it sucks except how well it sucks. It's made by Eureka. The bags are small so they must be replaced much more often ...
Pros: Great suction Excellent for pet hair Quiet Pretty easy to carry around Cons: Attachments dont all clip to the machine Some attachments are somewhat hard to attach
I did as much research as possible before buying this. I have not been disappointed. My basement is carpeted - and I have long haired cats. After vacuuming with my old machine I would go over the carpet with a sticky roller (like a lint ...
Pros: AERUS salesman took it as trade-in and gave $300 off towards our new LUX Guardian. Cons: It was an expensive lesson to learn, Aerus LLC is still making the LUX products.
My Mom also owned the same Electrolux canister for 22 years before she replaced it. My sister is still using that vacuum. My dad tells me it was 12 years old before it needed some minor work done to it. However, this Red Electrolux we bought at Lowe's ...
Pros: It's lightweight Cons: It doesn't do what it is suppose to do--It can't Clean carpets.
We purchased an Electrolux EL6988A at Costco since we had our last Electrolux for 20 years and it only quit a year ago. When we used the vacuum cleaner it did not clean the rugs so we returned it, figuring we had purchased a lemon. So we bought another ...
Pros: lightweight and Powerful picking up crumbs and dust. Cons: Not built to hold up. Too expensive for what you get.
I have had the Electrolux "Oxygen" vacuum for a few years now, and am very disspointed in it. I love canister vacuums, and heard that these were the best, and the price also reflected that it was probably a better vacuum. So we invested the money into ...
Electrolux failed to fix; repeated burnt connections by pflan ,Nov 03 '06
Pros: Has excellent suction and good accessories. Cons: Defective electrical design is a fire hazard. Electrolux refused to fix .
Bought because Electrolux was equivalent with "quality" for decades. Twice during warranty period the wands burnt out at connections, producing smoke, during use. The wands were replaced by Electrolux customer service but there was no suggestion to examine the cannister for electrical problems. It happened again just after the warranty expired; they replaced the wands again. It has burnt our at all connections for the 2nd time in the 3rd yr. of use and the "home office" has refused service despite the repeated nature of the problem with this vacuum. The customer service rep pretended this had never happened before but I see that another user's opinion cites the same problem. I now have a worthless machine I spent $450 on which I thought should last at least 20 years! And the fact that there could have been a fire didn't concern Electrolux!
Pros: It has good suction and is light weight. Cons: Needs constant maintenance. Belts have to be special ordered (takes 3 weeks).
When it works.. it does a nice job. This machine likes to eat belts (which are difficult to find, so far I have had to order every one). I have been through four belts in less than four months. Owned a Sears model for almost 8 years and I don't think I went through four belts in that whole time. The rug attachment needs to be cleaned often. By often I mean at least twice if I vacuum the whole house at one time. Even my daughter's hair will mung up the brush so it will not spin. This is a very frustrating machine if you plan on doing carpets with it. When I vacuum the wood floors in my house I use an attachment from an old machine. The floor brush that came with this machine is not great. Not sure I would give Electrolux another chance even though my Mother-in Law loves her machine.
The Electrolux Oxygen EL6988A canister vacuum is NOT the genuine Electrolux vacuum Mom had for decades. This product of Eureka which purchased the Electrolux name and then renamed itself Electrolux Home Care Products North America is not well built. The model I purchased failed within weeks, requiring a trip to the repair shop. Subsequently, the power brush stopped working after coughing up parts which apparently came loose. If you are looking for a reliable canister vacuum, this is not it.
I do not know why everybody else has such a problem with this vacuum, it is the very best vacuum my family has ever used (we say this after using the original (Aerus) Electrolux vacuums for OVER 50 YEARS!!) This thing can pick up anything you throw at it. After using it DAILY for almost a year with a dog and two cats who shed constantly I can say that it leaves the carpets lookong like new.
There are only two cons with this vacuum, the length of the cord and the size of the bag.
Pros: Can't think of one. Cons: I was a sucker and purchased this piece of crap.
Same problem as all the others. The connectors are fried and this prevents getting power to the head. This vacuum was $500 plus and didn't live for much longer than 2 years. Do not purchase an Electrolux because it appears it is not the same thing it used to be. I too think someone should start a class action suit. What a scam.
wouldn't waste my money by tuckers89gw ,Mar 25 '08
Pros: styling and looks Cons: everything else
My wife bought this machine to replace an old Kenmore that finally died. All we use it for is vacuuming the main floor hardwood and rugs. I have a great vac upstairs (Dyson). This thing is NOT a machine I would ever buy again. The power head is very difficult to maneuver with the plastic hard pipe. The suction is good for hardwood floors as that is what we bought it for. I still bring the Dyson down for the rugs. The bag full indicator does NOT work. I keep telling my wife I'm going to wait until it says change, but When I check the bag, there isn't any room for more dirt. The machine is cheaply made, and isn't made by the same company that made my mother-in-laws. The little foot operated button for lack of a better word, that allows you to unhook the power unit from the wand is probably the worst design I've seen.
Electrolux Oxygen has a defect by claret55 ,Mar 17 '08
Pros: Good looks and good suction (until it broke) Cons: It is not durable and its design causes electrical shorts.
When I first received my electrolux oxygen, I was pleased with its appearance and its performance. The carpet brushes were probably too soft, but with my short pile rugs, it did not matter so much. After a year of light use, the brushes would turn infrequently and on rugs, the wand was difficult to push. Now the brush does not turn at all. Given the price of this product its durability is really bad. Reading these reviews, I see that other people have had the same problem. I am very disappointed in its performance.
