Pros: Quick, no nasty taste, easy to use, simple. Cons: Lid needs improving, hard to completely drain.
Since living in the constant cold of dreary Southern New England, I've taken to drinking more hot beverages like tea and coffee especially. After a few cups of tea, I decided that the gas stove is not gonna cut it for a quick cup of anything so I went in ...
Pros: It boils water. Cons: It keeps boiling water. Lid design is unsafe.
I am fond of electric kettles. They offer the convenience of having hot water in much shorter time than a conventional range top water kettle. And for those of you who like brewing your coffee the manual way, or who just want hot water available for ...
Pros: Boils water FAST. Well balanced, so less chance of scalding when pouring. Cons: Faulty on/off switch. Kept boiling in off position then didn't work at all.
We purchased one in brushed stainless steel with a black handle. Great looking kettle. Sleek design, well balanced and very modern looking. The on/off button lights up in an electric blue color which adds to the entire look as well. Boils the water ...
Bought the black version in about 10/08. It worked until Xmas day 08, when it stopped turning on. I had noticed a slight leak just before it stopped working. Sent it to the service center 12/26, finally heard from them (well no, they NEVER contacted me, ...
Pros: Works great, works fast, looks clean in the kitchen, easy to use. Cons: Our first one broke, but was easily replaced.
We are going on our second Krups Electric Kettle. The first one we bought broke after about a month (of every morning use). It just suddenly and completely stopped working. You'd push the button, and nothing would happen - no blue light, no sounds, no ...
Switch Broke On Mine Too. Faulty Switch Is No Coincidence. by fredrix ,Feb 25 '07
Pros: Nice looking when it works, which won't be for long. Cons: This hugely overpriced electric kettle WILL break in a few months. Heed the warnings here.
It worked fine for 4 months and then one day the switch just up and died. This is outrageous considering I paid over seventy dollars for it at Linens & Things! And then I come here and find this seems to be a standard thing for these overpriced kettles! Ouch.I hope I have saved you from making the same very expensive mistake. As Felix Unger, on the Odd Couple used to say, now it's garbage!" Seventy Dollars (plus tax) worth of garbage!
Worked great for a year by woodswoman6 ,Sep 27 '06
Pros: Exterior is cool to the touch. Cons: Switch malfunctioned after a year.
We used this kettle every day. It was fast and easy to use. We also liked the plastic exterior because it did not get very hot to the touch, so no risk of burning yourself. After about 14 months of use, the on/off switch started to go bad. We have to push the switch numerous times to get it to stay on. Needless to say, we are in the market for a new kettle!
Great kettle, but did not last by jtinnh ,Apr 07 '09
Pros: Quick hot water. Small footprint. Cons: Durability - Under 2 years is too short.
We have loved our Krups Kettle. It heats quickly, even a full pot in less than 2 minutes. The extra boiling never bothered me. I figured it was the pot assuring that ALL the water had reached boiling temp. The noise is not a big problem, either.
We have had our Krups kettle for about 1 3/4 years, and so, it is out of warranty. Our switch did not fail, as others have experienced, but we began to notice it acting a bit funky and realized that the soft touch switch, though attractive and trendy, was not a good design choice for durability.
Our problem came in the form of a leak from the lower end of the handle. I contacted Krups and they, of course, would do nothing out of warranty. They did offer us a mail in rebate coupon. Unfortunately, it required a minimum purchase of $60. The price of the kettle at Bed Bath and Beyond is $59.99. Close, but no rebate. We could use it for a different Krups product, but I don't think so.
Another faulty on/off switch by bearperson ,Jan 26 '09
Pros: Worked great for 6 months Cons: Faulty on/off switch
After 6 months, the on/off switch started causing problems - now we have to press it a dozen times to make it stay "on." We too are in the market for a new kettle.
All 3 kettles I bought were faulty by jmcomment ,Jan 15 '09
Pros: Attractive design Heats up quick Cons: Faulty on/off switch
With the 1st kettle, the on/off switch didn't work. I returned it and got the same model. After 3 months, the filter crumbled apart. I went and returned it last week and AGAIN, the on/off switch won't work on our new kettle. The only reason we kept purchasing this model was that it was attractive in our kitchen. Although I am a big fan of Krups appliances, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS KETTLE.
