George Foreman GRP99 Sandwich Maker

Pros: Fast, easy to clean, large grill size, never overcooks food, preheats, variable heat temps.
Cons: I honestly can't think of any!

My husband originally purchased a regular George Foreman grill and I said I wanted nothing to do with it because it's a pain to clean. The next day, I saw a TV commercial for "The Next Grilleration" of George Foreman grills and I was thrilled to hear that the grill plates were removable and dishwasher safe! I immediately returned the other grill and purchased the GRP99 and have been thrilled with it. It is so easy to use and foolproof in cooking. We used to eat take-out 4 or more (!) times a week and now we cook almost daily! It makes everything. We've done: salmon, vegetables, tuna steak, turkey burgers, chicken, steak...you name it! They all cooked perfectly! The instruction manual tells you how many minutes to cook it at. Clean up is a breeze! The non-stick surface is fantastic and there's never the crud I used to have on my pans! I haven't even used a pan to cook for months!!!

Pros: exceptionally healthy food
Cons: DANGEROUS and wife refuses to eat the food because of its texture

WARNING ...Monstrous, heavy, burning hot metal plates fall off when opening lid. EXTREME DANGER. Love the food, but it scares my entire family to death. I'm not burned, but incredibly steamed. Only purchase this if it comes with free burn cream and a complimentary ER room visit. Pity, since I like the food and the easy cleanup.

Pros: Easy to clean, plates go in dishwasher. Temp.& time controls. Includes a great cookbook.
Cons: I really can't think of anything I don't like about this grill.

I bought the GRP99 grill in December 2004 and loved it from the first time I used it. I previously owned the older model that did not have removeable plates and it was a pain to clean up. This grill is a dream and I love it so much I bought two more as Christmas gifts for my grown children. If you follow the time and temps. listed in the cookbook, from burgers to chicken breasts, everything grilled on this comes out nice and juicy not dry. I would highly reccommend this grill to anyone who wants to cook low fat.

Pros: Cooks evenly, taste great, large size holds 6 burgers.
Cons: Oxidizing in dishwasher. Very large takes up too much storage space.

I got this based on the fact that you can put the grill plates in the dishwasher, HOWEVER, beware, they oxidize in the dishwasher. Meaning the back of the cooking plates, turn black and wipe off on your towels, hands, ect. I called the manufactor and said this is normal, and i shouldn't wash them in the dishwasher very often. So much for easier washing!

Other than that problem, it cooks awesome! I loved the temp control and timer. Great Features!! Plus it held 6 burgers! They tasted great to my family.

I would buy this again, but would never put it my dishwasher. I will always wash by hand.

Pros: Easier to wash than previous units.
Cons: Melts, blisters, quits working. What more need I say?

I'm actually surprised there is no Class Action Suit going on for this product. I've had mine for not quite 3 months and the grilling was okay, nothing special. The problem that I have with this product is that the sixth time I used it, the top lid bulged and blistered right before there was the smell of burning plastic and then the unit died. No display, no heat, no nothing. I wish that we could post pictures, because this is something to see. The top lid ballooned up almost 3/4 of an inch. There is definitely not enough heat shielding on the top of the unit. Apparently, the only thing that keeps it from burning completely up is a little ONE-TIME overheating protection circuit. I say one-time, because it cannot be replaced. At least not by the consumer. This was a problem that showed up in earlier units. One would think that they would have fixed the fault.
