Pros: Lightweight, versatile, expandable. Cons: Placement of USB and SD Media Card slot; dull display.
Our inventory of laptop computers, though still functional, is getting old and a little road weary. We issue most of them to senior level executives to carry with them at all times; the remainder are in a pool of machines we loan out to those ...

Pros: Well built, Looooong battery life (7hrs), bright 15" screen Cons: Heavy, Touchpad acts up in humid weather
I have bought/received a new laptop every 12 months since the early 1990's (yes, I had a 286 Zenith Supersport mono laptop) -- and I can honestly say I think I might just hold on to the Hewlett-Packard NC6000. I finally have a machine that I don't feel ...

Pros: Supports 2 batteries, nice keyboard, robust, good performance Cons: Touchpad becomes erratic requiring a reset (not a reboot)
I purchased a used nc6000 on ebay and have been generally pleased with its performance, size, weight (5 lbs), and battery life. I was worried that a 1.4GHz model would be too slow, but it is more than adequate for most of my needs as a technical ...

Screen Problems
by rafaeldavila ,Apr 24 '05
Pros: none Cons: HP service
I just bought two compaq nc6000 notebooks and one showed problems with the screen as soon as a week after purchasing. For nine days was under repair but the machine was returned as hp service could not find the problem with the screen as it is random. Contacting HP service is difficult if not impossible out of office hours for those of us not willing to waste hours trying to get support at our jobs. It is not just hp quality is no longer the same it is service also the issue.
I believe I will end up with an out of factory refurbished computer at a high cost.

good computing experience
by zinkler ,Apr 10 '06
Pros: a good balance of price and performance. Cons: only two usb ports.
I have had the nc6000 for a little less than a year now and have found it to be essentially trouble free. I use it for mostly word processing, web browsing, some database management, image editing and movie watching when i travel. It is a very versatile machine that does most things well. I have relied upon it as a replacement for my desktop and travel with it frequently. It is sturdy and not too heavy. I had a previous hp that gave me some problems but hp was responsive to my complaints and made every effort to remedy my issues. From what I can see, some people have not been as lucky. Having used laptops since the 1980's I am beginning to feel that you can get a lemon from any of the makers. Customer support has progressed (?) to hit and miss, depending on who you get.
