I was looking for a "pocket drive" for my laptop. If you look at the picture on the box, the drive is portrayed with only a USB connection to the laptop. This is not how the drive works. You must use external power. Beware of drives that are not specifically marketed as "USB Bus Powered". I learned my lesson and will return this drive. I transferred about 9 GB of MP3s to it from my HD using USB 1.0 and it took over 2 hours!! Best bet would be to purchase a high speed (i.e 5200 rpm, with 16MB buffer) 2.5 inch drive and an external USB powered case.
