best coax I've used
by audiphilenut ,Oct 23 '03
Pros: adjustable tweet
very smooth tweeter Cons: weak on midbass
require abit of power
I managed to scrounge a pair of vr525-cx's from a dealer that was replacing them with a newer version, the cxi's at 50 dollars for the pair I had nothing to loose, I replaced my eclipse sp8952 with these pair in the factory location of a dodge shadow, I had a dedicated 50rms to each speaker, and an in-dash 6 band eq to help with imaging, Let just say out of all the component and coaxial's I have heard these speakers were nothing short of jaw dropping, The clarity, tonality, and imaging adjustments capable of this speaker makes it an excellent setup for someone who does not wish to have to run component sets, The adjustable tweeter positioning is wonderful item for imaging, These coaxial's really perform well, the only drawback is I felt the need to run more power, they are not the most effecient speakers out there but even at lower power the could still perform decent, If you plan on running an dedicated ampflier these speakers will work well, for as off a head unit I would suggest a more efficient speaker that requires less power.
