Does the Job.

by RMax304823 , Jun 06 '05
Pros: Sounds great and does what it's supposed to.
Cons: Manual is poorly written and installation is complicated.
I've owned this receiver/amplifier for about four months now. It does what it proposes to do and does it well, for a reasonable price. Still, I'm not sure I would recommend this to a friend. There is no S-video jack for some reason, but that's not ...

Kenwood VR-806 A/V Dolby 6.1 Receiver
by bessee ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: Size, appearance, ease of use, capabilities, features & benefits, clarity, volume, variety of connectors
Cons: remote is too small, speaker selection menu too broad based and complicated.
I spent quite a while looking over specifications and features on a myriad of comparable receivers, many costing hundreds of dollars more. Dollar for dollar this receiver offers more features than anything I could find for the price. There are plenty of various modes of inputs and outputs to satisfy all but the most anal videophiles and audiophiles. There is so much adjustment available for fine tuning your surround sound system that you'll probably never tap its entire potential unless your already retired and have no other responsibilities other than playing with the home theater. Spatial separation and audio object placement are supreme. The variety of aural modes is sufficient for most any surround sound video theater experience. This is just plain the "best buy" I could find in a full feature A/V control center,.....save yourself some serious $$$ and check this out. You won't be disappointed!

Worth every penny!

Pros: Very inexpensive, loads of features, easy to operate
Cons: Buttons on remote are small, could use more digital optical inputs
I bought this receiver to replace an older Kenwood receiver that I had in my basement and I am really glad that I did. The controls are very well laid out and the owner's manual is easy to understand. It has many different sound modes to satisfy every type of listener. As far as how it sounds, this unit sounds awesome. It is also very inexpensive considering how many features it has. The only thing I didn't like is the remote. The buttons on it are quite small and it is not a learning remote. However that is not all that important. If you want an inexpensive home theater receiver, look no further.
