I bought a Nakamichi CD35z in-dash CD player/tuner because my first car (last year) did not have a stereo in it, as the previous owners stuck the 100disc changer in their Lexus and left me with a stock Subaru radio with a whole bunch of chopped up wires...

Pros: Excellent sound quality. No flap. Rotary volume control. Very simple to operate.
Cons: Not much except the price can be "steep". The carry case is very "cheap".

I have an affection for certain brands, e.g Nikon. And I've always owned a Nak of some description, so naturally I looked at a Nak for my car.

I did look at other brands. For the price of the 35z I could get some serious "starship"...

The cd-z series is very comparable to Naki's CD-700. I own the 35Z and the sound is VERY impressive. Its controls are very basic, and simple, a nice attribute when driving any speed. The body of the stereo is attractive, but not a 'steal me' when seen...
