Pros: sub-$100 price, multiple format playback, progressive scan, wealth of outputs, JPEG, MP3 Cons: Remote not illuminated, not as spiffy looking as other brands in similar price range
For the most part, I've used my XBox, PS2, or computer to play most of my DVDs. Seeing that I'm usi ...
Pros: Progressive Scan, proven platform, new lower price, JPG, MP3 Cons: No coaxial digital output, trendy silver color.
The Panasonic DVD-S35S is this years successor to the their wildly popular DVD-RV32. The key differences are that the newer model has progressive scan and the retail price is much lower. Advances in DVD technology have brought prices down...
Pros: too many for 15 words Cons: the remote isn't beautiful
I have to admit that often when I’m in the market for some new gadget – it is not with features in mind, but rather with aesthetics – I can’t help it, I’m a market researcher’s dream. I like things that are sleek, shiny and pretty to look at – and more i ...
Pros: -JPEG Support
-MP3 Playlist and Shuffle Support
-Consistent, solid MP3 Playback Cons: -Lacks "Sage/Faroudja chipset" which apparently provides a better picture
-Manual could be perhaps more informative
I'm no expert when it comes to what to look for in DVD players with regards to playing DVDs. By nature, I don't like watching movies; I just don't typically like devoting 1+ hours to watching a TV screen. So this review won't concentrate so much on...
Pros: DVDs can play faster/slower to watch in 60% of the time! Plays DVD-RAM,DVD+Rs. Cons: RAM speed only normal. Slow display of hi-res jpeg pics. Can't go left/right on zoom.
Nobody else has talked about the greatest feature in this DVD Player. You can play a DVD faster or slower than real time. The settings are: Play it 20% slower (.80% mode) Play it 10% slower (.90% mode) Play it at normal speed (1.00% mode) Play it 20 ...
Pros: Rich feature set including DVD+/-R and MP3 compatibility and stylish design at budget price. Cons: Poor remote and only optical digital out (no coax digital out).
I own many DVD players ranging from the high end at $1000, to the very low end at $49. In my DVD experience you get what you pay for. But, there also isn't much since in buying more DVD player than your TV can handle either, which is why I have such a...
I bought my Panasonic S35K model from Amazon for about $60 after a rebate. This is my second Panasonic DVD player. I bought another Panasonic because I liked the quality of my last one and the price and features made it hard to pass up. My old one ...
Pros: Excellent picture + sound quality, good remote, cheap Cons: Only lasted 13 months before dying with the dreaded Panasonic HO2 error
I got this DVD player for $85 about a year ago (7/1/03) and was thrilled with it for the thirteen months that I had it. The progressive-scan picture quality using component video outs was absolutely excellent with a crisp picture and saturated colors, ...
Pros: Offers great compatibility and features at a reasonable price. Cons: No divx/xvid,mpeg4, or SVCD playback. Can be picky with recordable media.
I just purchased one of these recently and I am quite satisfied with what I got for the amount of money spent. Unlike the cheaper S-25 model this one actually has an S-Video output which is crucial. This player supports the playback of DVD, VCD, ...
Pros: Great picture overall on progressive scan. Reads many video supports.
MP3 decoding very good. Cons: H02 error - does not read disk.
Remote control unreadable in dim lighting.
I've got my Panasonic DVD-S35 player brand new and used it with satisfaction - until now. It could play just about everything I could throw at it. It was fine with MP3 playback too. Picture quality (progressive scan) was great-looking and the digital ...
Pros: Plays almost any disc format, complete info on OSD, great sound and picture. Cons: It lacks manual controls on the unit if the remote control is lost or malfunctions.
After reading all the reviews posted here, I'm compelled to write mine based on my experience with the S35. I got mine for more than 3 years now and I've had no problem with it until now. As I see it from the reviews, the existence of the HO2 and finally ...
Panasonic DVD-S35 and H02 Error by woletall ,Apr 10 '07
Pros: Excellent player for the money. The sleek design looks good amongst my other set-top boxes. Cons: Cover sits too close to internal disk spindle impinging spinning, producing H02error over time.
I've read a lot about this player and the infamous H02 error and just wanted to share my experience.
I got the player about three years back and it has worked well everytime (although very lightly used). Recently it started giving the H02 error or NoDisk error when indeed there was a disk.
On the advise of some reviewers here, I took off the cover, and basically dismantled it and put it back together again. It worked but I was getting a humming sound which is what it was doing originally before giving the error.
It would appear that when the cover is on, it sits very close to the white plastic circular bit that helps to clamp the DVD in place. So after a few years, and especially if you have another set-top box sitting on it, the cover sags and stops the spindle from spinning freely.
After I bent the cover slightly to put more space between it and the white spindle clamp, the hum disappeared and everything works well again.
Was great and now is on its way to the grave !! by dmtech ,Apr 08 '06
Pros: Great features, great video & sound. Easy to use. Cons: Error codes were frequent. Horrible customer service from Panasonic
I bought this unit around November of 2001. I bought it because of the price and the Panasonic name. I also liked the features it had. It has worked great for years. About 1 year ago, I first got the H02 message. Followed the instructions and it started working again. Now (4/8/06), it came back. It now recognizes the DVD, but it skips a lot. After a few minutes, it will then open the door. I tried using the cleaning disk, but it has not gotten any better. I was originally going to say this is a great unit, but seeing how many people have had this problem, I would have to say that it is not a good unit. I paid more than $100 for this unit when it came out. It was only out for a few months. Sound & video quality is great. Great options, but mechanically it is no good. I will never buy another Panasonic product again. I wrote an email to Panasonic with the problem and have yet to receive a response.
