Love it -- after two years
by mattleide ,Mar 11 '05
Pros: Picture quality, cost, features, durability.
Cons: Weak flash.
I purchased this camera on the recommendation of a friend. I've taken it to Europe, Hawaii, Florida, Denver and I haven't treated it well, yet I've had no problems with it. I upgraded to a 256 mb card and I reduced the picture size and quality. I can store 734 pictures on the card and the quality at this resolution is still better that most of my friends cameras. I’ve used the video mode and filled the card creating a 15 minute movie file. I looked for a camera that took AA batteries so I could replace them whenever and quickly. The battery life is not stellar, but is satisfactory. The menu system is easy enough to use once you play with it a little. I love the black and white feature. You need a tripod when using the night mode (I can't hold the camera still enough to not blur the photo, because the shutter stays open for a long time in this mode). My only complaint would probably be solved with a more powerful camera, I find myself wanting more zoom. Even so, I'm not ready to replace it even after more than 6,000 photos.

Wow! Great camera.
by cavitappa ,Mar 24 '05
Pros: Leica lens. Panasonic value and reliability.
Cons: buy your AA batteries in the big pack at Terget.
My other camera is a vintage Nikkormat (35mm Nikon). This little Panasonic, with the awesome Leica lens (I can't afford a Real Leica) takes photos just as good quality. Don't let the 3 MP turn you off - Leica lens more than compensates for it.

amazing
by jewbies ,Mar 29 '04
Pros: amazing ease of use and high quality pictures, great camera
Cons: just the price is high for first time buyers
This is my first digital camera, and i am loving it to death. Besides doing all the basic digital camera features, it think that its size and easy of use make it above and beyond most of it competitors. As i have been told the Leica lens, is supposed to be a very good addition to this camera, and it is retractiable which come in handy when trying to save space. other great features are the ability to quickly review the pictures that you have just taken, without switching the camera around too much, just hit one down stroke on the arrow pad and there you have it.

Amazing little camera that doesn't disappoint
by fletchandme ,Nov 11 '04
Pros: ease of use, lightweight, picture quality, price
Cons: battery life, hard to view in the dark
I absolutely love this camera. I was afraid of going digital, because it's all new. But this camera couldn't be simpler. So simple in fact, that I bought my 80 yr old parents one, too. They can't even work a VCR, so when they find this easy, it is! The layout of the menu to the design of the body is basic and effortless. Ease is the first great thing about this camera, but far and away not the only. The picture quality is fantastic. The software is simple to install and to follow. The manuals are great. The camera is tiny, but not so tiny that an old person can't find the buttons (like the coolpix 3200.) The 3.75 X 2.75 X 1.5 camera is lightweight and again, simple. Battery life is short, so recommend rechargeables. The only quip I have, is difficulty seeing the LCD or through the viewfinder in very dark places. I haven't tried the video yet, but so far, this camera doesn't disappoint.

Little gem!
by zpuskas ,Jan 27 '04
Pros: Leica lens. SD card. Easy to use. Small but durable. Nice LCD viewer.
Cons: Battery life (but I think they're all that way). No separate flash shoe.
I ordered this via B&H (great store and service) without seeing it in person. I am impressed. Leica lens. Easy to use. Learned the basics in a few minutes. Looks durable, no flimsy doors. Uses SD cards which I already have. Great pictures. For the price...great deal.

Well worth the money - but
by jb-groundzero ,Aug 16 '04
Pros: Excellent pictures Easy to use
Cons: excessive electrical draw may require use of AA NI-MH batteries
This is a teriffic camera just the right size, price and quality for the average consumer. The system produces sharp photos and the download software is much better than others I have used. My main complaint relates to the use of batteries. If you let regular AA Alkaline batteries completely drain out the camera may not start again with regular AA Alkaline batteries and will require higher voltage AA NI-MH which are expensive and require a charger. This was confirmed with Panasonic tech support.

Great camera, excellent picture quality, easy to use.
Only con to it is battery life, and if you use an external reader it takes care of that

great camera
by debaech ,Oct 14 '03
Pros: Easy to use for those w/o a lot of experience while also offering advanced features.
Cons: None. A minor gripe is the wimpy 16mg chip that it comes with.
The body is solid and feels good in the hand. The controls are easy and the intuitive display dialog makes controlling the features a breeze.
