Pros: Lightweight, sleek, simple, clean Cons: more ram needed, bass boost would be nice
The Diamond PMP 300 was the first, original MP3 player to come out on the market. Indeed it was met with great reservation, as the music industry scampered for lawsuits to stop MP3's from spreading from people's computer to a portable medium. But once...

Pros: Fun and portable Cons: Proved to be fragile, Broke when still barely used
The new, and I stress NEW Diamond Rio PMP300 has proven itself as no more than a typical prototype. About as refined as a barefoot bridegroom, this device packs loads of potential into a disappointingly problematic final form. I would recommend the...

Pros: Cheap, listen to mp3s anywhere Cons: Manufacturing problems
Having the need to listen to my mp3s while driving and running, I decided to purchase the Rio PMP300. Fortunately I was able to pay only $50 for the unit since Diamond offered a $50 manufacturer's rebate and Mercata.com had a first-time customer $50 off...

Pros: Portability, No skipping, Super Long Battery Life, Make your own tunes! Cons: Expensive, around $150, only enough memory for about 1/2 hour of music
Welcome to the Next thing in Music. First it was 8-tracks, then records, then tapes, after that CD's, then DVD. But now the next wave is upon us. It is called MP3. MP3 is a digital audio file that can be stored on a computer's hard drive and played...

Not the best, but still awesome!
by rdn98 ,Dec 06 '03
Pros: 1 aa battery, long battery life, clear sound Cons: No id3 tagging
I had this mp3 player as a gift from the summer of 2000. The player has 32mb of onboard memory, and that doesn't seem much, can only hold about 8 songs at 192kbs, or about 12 at 128kbs. Anyhow, still a great player.
I was a bit dissapointed though thinking that this player can hold more than 64mb of ram. I bought a 64mb smartmedia disk, and it turns out, its not even supported on the player! :( So I had to go out and buy a new 32mb smartmedia disk. With 64mb, I can easily fit a whole album and a half.
Battery life is excellent. I can get about 8-10 hrs on one aa battery, which is amazing. The rio software that comes with it is fairly simple to use, and it comes with an adapter to hook up to the computer. Transferring a song to the rio only takes about 5 minutes.
If you want to use it for winxp or windows 2000, the rio software provided won't work. Instead, use a program called RioSolitude. It works nicely, and does the job.
Overall, awesome product, just doesn't tell you id3 tags.

This was my first and...
by locdawg_dt3000 ,Mar 03 '03
This was my first and remains my only MP3 player ever purchased. I use it while jogging and it has never skipped a beat. It clips easily on the waistline of a pair of shorts and you don't even notice it there. The headphones even stay in your ears while jogging! Some time ago the parallel cable broke and now I can't upload any new music. Good thing I had some songs on there that I really like!
