Pros: Decent picture when it is working, nice looking on the wall Cons: BAD SERVICE, SAMSUNG DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT
Bought this plasma in august of this year. Only have ten hours of play time and the power supply went on it. Technician told me it is a KNOWN problem from SAMSUNG but two weeks later the part is still back ordered. Bought it from Best Buy and their ...

So Far So Good
by violet863 ,Nov 26 '06
Pros: Great picture, very clean. Cons: Chunky when screen is black, not often, between commercials or a few seconds between scenes.
We have had this TV for about a month now. I will be sure to come back with any changes in this review. I enjoy the TV, and have had no problems with it. We have it mounted on the wall in our living room. The picture is great. If you sit too close it can get a little fuzzy. By too close I mean right on top of it. If I am sitting off to the side a bit, I can see the picture perfectly. We mounted it ourselves, although the salesperson tried to get us to pay someone to come in. My other half is pretty good with this stuff and did it with ease. No TV technician, just common sense. (sometimes... : P )
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It looks great and has a great picture. We do not have HDTV yet, so I imagine that will make this pretty darn close to perfect.
I wanted to come back and say we have now been using this television for well over a month and I stand by what I have written in this review. If anything changes I will update as necessary.

Not A Happy Camper
by bsamson60638 ,Aug 30 '05
Pros: None I can think of Cons: TV doesn't work. Bad service.
I purchased this TV about a month ago from Best Buy and I'm sorry to say that I have regretted it ever since. After a few hours of viewing it wouldn't work anymore. I called Samsung support and after what seemed like hours navigating the voice menus I was able to talk to a technician. We spent a lot of time trying this and checking that and he finally diagnosed the problem as a power supply. They are supposedly sending me a new power supply for free with instructions on how to replace it. It's been a month and I haven't received it yet and I haven't been able to find out anything more about it. I am not a happy camper.

Awesome set and service
by roguez33 ,Jun 28 '04
Pros: HD and DVD picture! Value! Cons: No pre-outs for audio. Analog upconversion.
I have had the HPN5039 now for 2 weeks and I am very happy. The review stating Samsung service is bad, is VERY Wrong! I had a problem with the DVI connection out of the box. After checking everything I could, I called Samsung and they were great. They sent someone to my house within three days with all the parts imaginable. The service man replaced the board and all is well.
Now, on to the set. The colors are crisp and vibrant. This set works best with HDTV signal or DVD. I have Comcast HDTV, progressive scan DVD, and my HTPC hooked up. Everything works as advertised. Its not so great with standard tv (analog) signals. The Samsung is not to blame for this. As they say garbage in, garbage out.
I picked up this 50" for about the price of most 42" sets. If you are looking for a great picture and reasonable price this is it.

Fine set and excellent service
by dtam ,Jan 13 '04
Pros: Picture (with good signal), number/type of input jacks, light weight, design/appearance, 2-year warrantee Cons: Fan noise (toggle on/off), using burn-in prevention
causes thin grey bar on side of screen.
The above bad review is just wrong. This dude must have trouble speaking. I had a problem with my set, there was a section with no picture. I called Samsung and they shipped me a new set. Set it up and took the old one. The entire process took 2 weeks. Also, the problem with the cell having no picture went away on the second day and never
reappeared. I felt guilty returning the set, but there was a problem so it was best.
The set has a 2 year warrantee. I got a 4 year extension for short money. So, the set is fully covered, in home, for 6 years.
Picture with good to HD signal is great. Bad signal FX, SciFi channels look bad.
