Pros: Fast, good resolution, duplex, scan to PDF, extremely compact Cons: not good for photos, need a separate scanner for odd-shaped pieces of paper
I like to scan important documents like pay slips, invoices (for warranty, insurance and customs purposes), tax returns and the like. I keep a backup of them at my office in case of a fire at home, and some on a keychain USB flash drive. I bought a HP...
Pros: Duplex, auto-page-size, ability to remove background color Cons: No auto page size when used from Acrobat, but scanner **does* work from Acrobat!
I just purchased my DR 2080C this week after having read reviews on this site, which were very helpful. The more recent reviews here pointed out that the scanner has been updated to allow the choice of either SCSI or USB 2.0. One complaint that did not ...
Pros: Small, Fast, Easy to Use, Excellent Document Feeder Cons: No USB/1394 - Only SCSI (Although it comes with an Interface Card)
I bought this scanner because I wanted a good, on the desktop scanner for my paperwork that I get at home. My goal is to eliminate 95% of my files, keeping only the hardcopies for items that are absolutely necessary (like my car's Pink Slip).

Pros: Simple to use and very fast
USB 2.0 device Cons: Confusing handling of scanning options
The DR-2080C scanner I bought has a USB 2.0 interface in addition to the SCSI interface. It is fast, scanning several pages a minute, even in duplex mode. The scans are good, completely usable as electronic copies of paper documents.
Pros: small footprint, easy install, only problem free personal scanner Cons: none
We have sold personal feed through scanners with our voter registration database software for three years. The Canon is the first and only trouble free personal feed through scanner we have found. Besides that the footprint is the smallest of the...
Great small office scanner, particularly for working professionals. by ernielaw ,Apr 27 '05
Pros: Good compatibility with software. Nice to have high capacity Cons: Doesn't scan photos or bound paper (like books).
This scanner works great if you're trying to create a paperless office. The high volume is useful for scanning several documents at a time and it is fully compatible with FileCenter and other paperless office applications.
Canon DR-2080C ---Excellent Buy!--- by rharpe ,Apr 02 '04
Pros: Easy installation, scans fast, various sized pages can be scanned at one time, small unit. Cons: scanner must be on before computer, (SCSI.) paper sometimes fed two sheets, software needs more.
I read some reviews on this site and found it to be the most popular/reviewed sheet-fed scanner. So I wanted to try it out and see how it performed. The installation was simple and the software was straight forward. Being that I'm an IT professional, I do have an advantage. When experimenting with the scans, they worked very well, (maximum of 8 pages at various sizes.) I did have some paper feeding issues, but nothing that would stump my scanning. This is a great buy!

Pros: Small size, carrying case, speed, quality, reliability, and features. Cons: I have the older none USB SCSI version. The current model is USB.
We use this thing daily to scan about 600 pages duplex. I bought it in 2002 amd it has only had the feed roller replaced and that is it. I have two larger Fujitsu Scanpartner 15C's and both of them have had to have major repairs. The Cannon is the best scanner on the market for the small size and price.
Pros: Very well built. Produces nice scans, and is relatively fast. Cons: It's almost unbelievable that this product cannot scan from within Adobe Acrobat 6.0.
Great little scanner but BUYER BEWARE! This scanner is incompatible with Adobe Acrobat 6.0! You WILL NOT be able to scan documents directly from Adobe Acrobat 6.0 like you could in Acrobat 5.05. This has been a known issue discussed on Adobe's website since at least June of 2003, yet NOTHING has been done about it! I'll admit that this is a problem that has its origins in the Adobe software, but since this is a product that Canon continues to sell, they have a RESPONSIBILITY to remedy compatibility issues with the most popular and useful document format software! If you do a search on the internet for this scanner, half of the places that sell it also list Adobe Acrobat 6.0 as a companion product! From what I've read Canon had similar issues with Acrobat 6.0 and their ImageRUNNER product line, but with a wildly popular and expensive product like that, you guessed it, compatibility problems have long been fixed, and by CANNON! Avoid this product if you intend to use the latest version of Acrobat.
