Pros: Light weight, uses only one wall jack. Cons: If any loud background noise the phone seems to give the impression of cutting out.
We purchased this telephone for our new home in 2002. A home with a finished basement where my husband and children spend most of their time, the yelling from the basement can be annoying, Mom can you bring me this, Honey can you bring me that. So ...

No static here
by tholden1 ,Feb 10 '04
Pros: Paging, individual ringtones, AA NiMH batteries, Global settings, speakerphone on each phone, good sound Cons: caller-id doesn't set time, no answering machine battery back-up, no global phone book
I don't receive any static. The sound is very clear. I am using three units spread throughout a 3000 sq ft house with no issue. I even have a wifi network and it doesn't interfere.

DCT 5280, nice features but too noisy
by mikejackie ,Sep 21 '03
Pros: cell-phone styling on the handset. expandable. Cons: static. noisy...pshhhh, pshhhhhh, chhhaaahhh
With all the offerings of cordless phone/answering machines staring back at me from the shelf, the sales clerk offered to point me in the right direction. He was very enthusiastic about this model, saying that he owns it(and 3 extra handsets @$50 apiece) himself. That was all the endorsement i needed and bought it straight away. The features are great and it really has everything i want in an answering machine, but when i tried the phone for the first time, i could not believe how much more noise(static) there was versus our other cordless(900MHz) phones. I spent an hour unplugging every possible source of interference(EMI, etc), including the refrigerator, throughout the house and retrying the phone, but it was way too noisy for me. just to keep things scientific, i plugged in the two incumbent phones and they were quiet as can be. Today i am returning this phone to the store and will keep searching for a suitable replacement.
